The staff were very friendly, both over the phone and in person and accommodated my requested substitutions with no problem. I ordered the seafood pasta with alfredo sauce and the spaghetti with meatballs. The food was delicious and fresh with hearty portions. The staff at the counter also gave us a complementary lemonade and made sure everything was right with the order, even though we ordered very close to closing time. The interior of the restaurant was cozy and warm, with tasteful decor. The space was neat and well utilized, with an intimate layout that allowed for privacy and cohesiveness at the same time. The gratuity was an automatic 20% and they asked for more like in wasn't included. You would do better skipping this one. I ordered the Baked Ziti with Meat Sauce, lighter on the cheese last night before leg night at the gym. The order was really delicious, meaty, cheesy and contained well. The ground meat was well-seasoned and the cheese was definitely abundant, but not over the top thankfully to where you see nothing else. I removed some excess cheese on my own. The red sauce is a bit oniony and kind of sweet. I always really liked it and is unique in a way. Most places don't make baked ziti to my preference when I tried them in the past, but this one at Prima Pasta and also the one from Angelo's in Webster nail it for me, despite being very different recipes. The pasta was decent. The soup was absolute trash and the salad was a salad the reason I gave this restaurant Customer Service a three star was because there was a mixup with my DoorDash order and I was double charged and never received my first order and when I called to have the situation rectified the young man that answered the phone was very kind and patient and helped me get my issue resolved. Had an early family dinner after our son's graduation. Food was great. Servers attentive. I wish I had photos to share. Between the 8 of us, we all had something different. The restaurant was cozy, not crowded. The only negative was the driveway. It was difficult and dangerous getting out. The shrubs should be trimmed significantly as it blocked speeding on coming traffic when exiting. Park on the side street if you can. read more

I. Love. This. Restaurant. I've ordered from them on door dash many times over the years, but I finally went in person this past Sunday when I got off of work. We door dash them because the portions are generous, the ingredients are fresh fresh and the flavors are multi-tiered and robust. When we use door dash the order is always sealed and HOT. They offer a garlic butter that I've tasted again in my dreams. In person or online I have never been disappointed. The restaurant has adorable murals and there are quirky knickknacks around the bar. We have driven past Prima Pasta too many times to count, but had not tried it until friends suggested going there for a group lunch. What a great recommendation! Our large party was warmly greeted by the owner and staff upon arrival and escorted to a long table for lunch. Questions were ably and courteously answered by waitstaff. As a warning, the portions are very generous. My husband and I ordered a grande Caesar Salad to start, and it was huge. We ended up taking half of it home to eat for dinner. Hubby ordered Spaghetti and Meatballs, and the Marinara Sauce was one of the best we have found in Houston. The pasta was perfectly Al Dente, and the meatballs were savory and herbaceous. We ended up taking most of it home. I couldn't decide what to order, so I opted for the Antipasti appetizer which offered Sampler, which featured meatballs, Italian Sausage, Marinara Sauce, Chicken Parmagiana, Sauteed Vegetables and Shrimp Scampi. We split the Antipasti and had no room to eat the pasta dish, so it made 2 lovely dinners the next evening. We will definitely come back and try some of the other menu options. read more

I had this Italian restaurant bookmarked for a while and finally visited for dinner last week after attending a nearby meeting. When I walked in I immediately liked the interior which had a homey neighborhood and cute feel to it. There is a small bar inside along with an L shaped dining room along with some covered outside seating too. I ordered the La Bravura entree for $18. It arrived less than 15 minutes later with some complimentary french bread toasted and buttered. It was a large plate of meat sauce and meat balls with sautéed mushrooms, onions and bell peppers on a bed of spaghetti. I enjoyed every bite. The marinara had good flavor, the meat balls were soft and tender with no knife needed to cut them and the vegetables were cooked properly. Very simply it was a delicious and filling meal that I would be happy to order again. Table service was prompt and professional. Prima Pasta is a very good restaurant and while I don't frequent this part of town often, I will return. read more

I thought I would get lasagna since I don't make it at home. After half an hour in a not-busy restaurant, my plate finally came after all the other persons in my party had been served. Lukewarm, it was not a standing square of layered lasagna, but a smallish heap of something covered in runny marinara and some cheese, so you couldn't see that it was not really lasagna. It did not taste of lasagna, there was a layer of meat crumble with no spice or sauce, or any cheese inside. The marinara had little flavor like watered down cheap jar sauce. My dining companion had fettuccine with a soupy white sauce, had to use a spoon. I doubt the cook has any real knowledge of Italian cuisine. Not recommended. read more

We ordered mozzarella sticks and calamari. The mozzarella sticks were decent, the marinara sauce tastes like it was from a jar and was not good. We had to send the calamari back - the presentation was not appealing, it tasted freezer burnt - absolutely disappointing. I ordered the beef lasagna and also sent it back - quite possibly the worst lasagna I've ever had. My son ordered the chicken parm and only ate about 1/4 of it. Prima Pasta was an absolutely enjoyable experience. Our hotel recommended the restaurant because it was a locally family-owned restaurant. I felt like we got a little taste of Italy! We ordered Italian prosecco, the greens salad and got their Italian dressing (homemade!), bolognese pizza, and the prima peperone. Everything was so fresh and tasty. There was a precious lady playing the harp, which was a fun experience within itself. The owner of the restaurant came by and checked on us and our food, asked us about ourselves and where we were from, and even went so far as to personally walk us out of the restaurant. I've dined at Prima Pasta a number of times, and my favorite item to order is their Italian seafood cocktail, Carpaccio Texana. The flavor is awesome and it is light and refreshing! However, I recently ordered the Carpaccio Texana for takeout and was very disappointed that I only received about 70% of the amount of food that I get when eating there in person. I guesstimate that the container of food I received would have been nearly full if filled with the amount of Carpaccio Texana that I am served when dining in person. I have included photos of my takeout order and you can see that it comes nowhere close to filling the container. Bottom line, the food there is great, but I have to wonder if the other items on their menu are also reduced in portion when ordering for takeout. Our son told us we needed to try this place so we did. He recommended the Prima Pasta, their most popular dish, so I did. It was very tasty. Angel hair pasta tossed in olive oil with sauteed garlic, basil, pine nuts, parmesan cheese, fresh tomatoes along with sundried ones, I asked for chicken instead of shrimp.....it was really good. They brought some freshly baked garlic bread. My wife enjoyed a side of meatballs and a cup of shrimp and vegetable soup, both dishes were a hit with both of us. Great service by Marissa. Prima Pasta has been around for over 30 years and I have driven by it a countless amount of times. I always told myself I would try it since it has stood strong all these years. A friend was tasked to pick a dinner spot and she chose this place. Parking is tight since it shares a strip with another business, but street parking is available as well. This place has so much character with the dim lighting, wine boxes everywhere, a beautiful patio and live music. Definitely a great date night spot. Customer service was great from start to finish. Karina was our waitress and she killed it with our large party. None of us had the intention of drinking, but once inside, it only felt right to have some wine with out dinner. I went with the Riesling on the menu and it came out perfectly chilled and refreshing. The complimentary garlic bread for the table was a great touch as I am a garlic bread fiend. We also got Julian's Mozzarella Fritti, Calamari Fritti, and Trionfo di Cozze (Mussels). All of it was generously portioned and tasty. No complaints there. For my entree I went with my tried and true choice at Italian restaurants, Chicken Parmesan. The food here reminds me of real, authentic Italian food. The chicken was thin and lightly breaded and the sauce ladled over it was so good. It had the perfect balance of tang with a hint of sweetness. The fettucine alfredo that accompanied it was cooked al dente and this sauce was delicious as well. The portion was huge so I had enough to take home too. I need to get out and start visiting some of these old school places that have been around for a long time. I've definitely been sleeping on his hidden gem and will be back! read more

This is my default go to for Italian with the delivery services. The food is consistently good and the prices are reasonable. I usually order the eggplant parmesan and vegetable lasagna. The vegetable lasagna is a really good deal and has a good variety of texture from the vegetables. The portion of the eggplant parmesan and its accompanying noodles are just right and won't leave you feeling too heavy afterwards. I have also eaten here in person, but made the mistake of sitting at the bar. The bar can be hounded by delivery people waiting to pick up the orders especially on a holiday. Even if you're a single diner, I recommend sitting at a table. The ambiance is dark with a mix of families and couples dining. Service is friendly. It doesn't seem like a mom&pop place but it is definitely the better neighbourhood Italian spot in the area compared to say... Olive Garden. read more
