Horrible! Waste of my time. Never got back with the bid after promising it many times. No stars!

Spent about a half hour speaking with Giuliano J Prieto, the Vice President and project Manager of Prieto Engineering at my my home on 9-26-2015. We spoke about my home need, he took down notes,did measurements, took photos and explained to me that he will get back to me with estimates and an explanation of what he believes my home needed. It's been over three (3) weeks now and I have not been contacted in any way. I've called his cell, voice mail full, his office, only to speak to a 12 year old who was being told what to say, come on now, it's not like your trying to avoid an ex. Show some professionalism and try being an adult. I'm sure glad money wasn't exchanged or I'd have to sue this idiot. Your better off hiring some guys from The Home Depot. read more

Inefficient, very poor communicators, and significant cost overruns. Entirely disappointing.

This company was my first experience dealing with a contractor and it honestly could have gone better. Their sales tactics were uncomfortably aggressive, and my family felt a little too pressured. What was really annoying was that after we signed, they were suddenly impossible to get a hold of. They did a decent job on the driveway, but this company really lacked communication and took forever to get the job done. read more

We had a MAJOR septic emergency that pumping it twice would not solve, I sent an email on a Saturday and Mike called me that same day. He came out as soon as possible to our house and assessed our whole system, explained all our options and got a restoration system put in which is going to be a long term solution. Prieto Engineering is an amazing construction company. They are a family run business with great talent for what they do. I hired Mr. Prieto to replace a 60' concrete driveway, rebuild a concrete porch, and rip out a large amount of concrete from my backyard. The price he quoted me was one of the lowest I received, but most amazingly, he did the entire job in just 2 DAYS. And it was a beautiful job. The concrete work looks amazing. The driveway and porch are just beautiful. His crew is fantastically nice and incredibly skilled. They come on time and are very considerate while working. He was patient and accommodating with the changes we wanted in the middle of the job. Overall, The Prietos are incredibly nice people and an incredibly professional construction company. I look forward to using them again on our next project! read more

Mike and his crew from Prieto Engineering were able to restore my Pirana/septic system to excellent working order. After years of neglect, a broken air pump, and a septic system full of tree roots, I was aftraid my Pirana system was kaput. But Mike was able to come out to my location, explain what he was going to do, and give me a fair estimate of the work that needed to be performed. My old "80" Pirana was removed from the tank, disassembled, cleaned, inspected to make sure the filter and diaphram were in good working condition, reassemble, attach the air line, insert a new bacteria tablet, and replace back into the tank. The air pump was toast and was replaced with a new pump. The old PVC air line was so fragile it had broken. Mike replaced the old line with a new flex line. Tree roots had overgrown the system and were in every crevice imaginable. Mike's crew cut and removed all the roots until the both stages of the tank were clean again. A dirty, time consuming job indeed! I would definitetly recommend Prieto/Mike to fix and maintain your Pirana/septic for all needs as they are experts with this type of system. read more

I am not easy person to impress, but Prieto Engineering is outstanding company. They took problematic project with demolition of three unpermitted retaining walls and build a new with permits with steps leading to the house. All foremen are great, very professional with excellent communication. Carlos for demolition, David masonry work, Jesus for laying blocks. Jaime (the owner) is awesome, always here when you need him and always-on time, very professional and experienced. The teams are very efficient and very well equipped. The process went through smooth and easy. The price is very reasonable. Beautiful job. Cannot be happier. read more

They did a job for me which was just awesome.The owner came right out, gave me a quote and you could tell he knew what he was talking about. Put in a driveway, put in some footings and they got it all done in one day including taking out the old driveway and out with the rubble and the rest. I got 3 price quotes and they were the best. The owner was very friendly and what I liked is they were A to B. Highly recommended. read more

Arranged for a meeting for a bid through their online chat. Meeting was scheduled for Fri. 2/3/12 at 2 pm in Los Angeles. Get a call from Tom at 2:15 saying he's stuck in Sylmar and won't be able to make it. We agree that he would call me monday 2/6 between 9am and 10am to arrange another meeting. He never called, I called him back several times and got a message that voicemail has not been set up on his phone. Also tried their chat again with no luck. Also left a message with their office never got a response. I would not recommend this company. read more

What a great company! Jaime Prieto is quite knowledgeable and personable. He is honest and reliable and an expert. From concept to completion, a top notch professional job. We recently had a water supply line leak under our aging asphalt driveway. In addition, riverlets of water would cascade on top of our driveway from rain runoff from our neighbors and our roof. We also had some old planters in the way of a 3rd parking space and adquate turn around space. Jaime came out and made recommendations to solve all of the these problems. His company is a complete engineering firm and they handled everything from demolition to decorative stamping of colored concrete including plumbing, electrical, and drainage. They promised 3 weeks, and were done on schedule. The estimate was the final price and was the most reasonable compared with other bids. The crew was professional and consciencious. Jaime was on site to supervise and consult for all the important phases of the project. They want to make sure they get things done the way you want it. Great attention to detail, such as grading and compacting and rebar placement, aspects so important to the final outcome. All the work was high quality and we are extremely pleased with the final result. read more

When we were suddenly faced with having to replace our driveway, we called Mr. Prieto because his company had done excellent concrete work for us before. This time they really went above and beyond the call. They returned my call on the weekend and arrived for the estimate on Monday. We needed this job done almost immediately and the new driveway had to be blended with existing stone trim. We also wanted to keep the cost down. The estimate arrived promptly and was very fair and so we arranged for the work to begin within the week. I cannot speak more positively about Mr. Prieto and his team. They worked professionally, cheerfully, and quickly to finish a complex job with lots of machinery in just three days. They left the work site--including our street--immaculately clean. My neighbors continue to offer compliments to me about their work and their work ethic. Mr. Prieto answered all questions I had during the process and kept me well informed through each step. In addition, he gently steered me away from choosing a concrete color that would have been way too dark for the location. I so appreciate that advice in retrospect. After the job was completed and paid for, I had two very minor concerns and Mr. Prieto came over himself and took care of them. This company and its staff gets an A+++ from me and several neighbors have used them successfully as well. read more

Working with this company was the worse experience I have ever had with sewage contractors. We engaged this company to pump our septic tanks, and they quoted us a price. Upon arriving, they discovered further problems with our tanks which ballooned the price by over 10 times. The HOA board agreed that we needed to have this problem solved, so we agreed to pay this amount and cut a check for that amount. However, the project lead, Giulliano, stopped responding to our emails until he actually received and cashed that check. His team continued to perform work, and both myself and our HOA management company asked Giulliano multiple times if this work was all covered under the amount that was previously approved. He did not respond. The next time we heard from him, he sent us a bill for an additional $12,000 above what the HOA approved! We were in shock. We never approved that work, but he claimed that we must pay since his guys already performed the work. He did not send us an estimate of the additional work and wait for our approval before doing the work. Needless to say, this put our HOA in a precarious situation given that we had specifically budgeted a set amount for this work. When we confronted Giulliano about this discrepancy and asked him why he did all of this work that was not approved, he got his lawyer involved and threatened that if we did not pay, he would put a lien on every single property in the building. This was on a Thursday or Friday, and he bullied us by saying if we did not pay, he would put the liens on the property by Monday. We responded that we needed more time to figure out the accounting and that he needed to send us the estimate to show when he got the extra work approved, and who he got approval from. No response... Because he was threatening a lawsuit and putting liens on our property, the HOA paid him in order to protect ourselves from his bullying and unprofessional tactics. This has left our HOA reserves much lower than we wanted and we have had to put other necessary projects on hold because of this company. Needless to say, this was a horrible experience and if you are thinking about using them to pump septic tanks, or otherwise have to deal with Giulliano, save yourself from being taken advantage of and do not do it. read more

An elderly member of our family recently experienced a major septic tank failure at his home of 50 years. He is the original owner and on a fixed income as he is in his 80's. Our experience with Prieto Engineering is the best we have had in dealing with septic tank issues. This is a family run business with over 30 years experience and their attention to detail and professional ethics are beyond reproach. When they called to make the initial estimate, they came on time and were very courteous. Their written estimate was easy to understand, and after checking them out, they had no complaints on file with the Department of Consumer Affairs. They finished the job on schedule and we highly recommend them to anyone who may need septic tank work done now or in the future. We do not personally know anyone associated with this company as this was our first experience with them. Bravo for a job well done!!!!! read more

This is a superior engineering organization with extensive experience in numerous disciplines, septic system diagnosis and remediation being one of them. They recently completed a septic remediation project for a relative on schedule and with overall excellent customer and technical service. Their bid was competitive, their contract comprehensive and fair plus they showed up on the job on time when they said and cleaned up after themselves when they left. This particular job was in a confined area with rough terrain and they provided extra service of removing fencing for job access and replacing same at job completion. Prieto Engineering stands out amongst the competition as true professional engineers. Whereas other businesses provided excessively high quotes, Prieto provided a precise estimate of the work and technical substantiation to back it up. This review is based on actual experience with Prieto and my elderly relative and with no other connection to the company. Highly recommended!! read more
