I was so impressed with the work they did on my windows that I hired them to do my roof as well. First of all, Avi, the owner of the company met with me on Zoom to explain everything in detail. Then he put together the contract which was very specific about what would be done, how it would be done, and when it would be done so that everything I wanted was included and there was no ambiguity. Next, the quality of the work was impeccable. The craftsman, Eric, did amazing finishing work. My neighbors have told me how much they like the windows facing their house. During the time the windows were being done, there was rain and I had leaks. I have solar panels on my roof. Once again Avi met with me on Zoom to explain the process. They have specialists for everything. The panels were taken down by the solar team and the layers of old roof were removed by the roofing team. Wood rot was then discovered and so that was repaired before the new roof was laid down and the solar specialists came bace to replace the panels. All along the process of both jobs, Ori, the project manager, was there daily to make sure that everything was moving along and that I was happy. Tom, in the office, Avi, or Ori responded immediately to any questions I had along the way. This is not a company that takes on jobs and then does a few days here and there. Once they started the only things that kept them from being there 6 days a week was waiting for permits or inspectors and a few days of rain. They are not inexpensive, but they are worth every penny. I tend to get anxious when I have to have jobs this big being done, but they made me feel comfortable throughout and I cannot be more pleased with the results. read more

Had this work done during Covid It is now 2026. The work is completely falling apart. Should've had a termite company come out and do the work for a third of the price. Broken roof tiles during construction, rain gutters falling off after two years and and I found after that much of the work wasn't necessary. Very expensive. read more

We've battled rats in the attic for 30 years, removing and disturbing insulation in an effort to trap and harass them. I saw the KRN ad for attic insulation and rat proofing in a weekly flyer and gave them a call. Someone came to inspect the attic and take pictures, then Avi arranged a Zoom meeting to provide an estimate. He gave a number of options for materials with varying prices and allowed me to select the best option for our needs. The work included completely removing all existing material, applying a coating of activated carbon to absorb odors, then covering the base and walls with Owens-Corning insulation, plus a foil layer for under the roof. Openings to the outside were sealed with screen, though it's all but impossible to make a space truly rat-proof in Southern California. A high power motion activated light is a good deterrent, as well as the manually operated siren on the stick-up Ring camera. I was glad to see the crew who arrived for the attic work wearing high quality respirators and other protective gear. That doesn't always happen if you're just looking the for cheapest bid. Lowest cost often means less protection for workers and less concern for their safety. Once the work was finished someone came to take pictures of the finished work and Avi actually sent the crew back to reinforce some of the screened areas- he's a self-proclaimed perfectionist! It was a pleasure to do business with this company and I have no doubt that they will stick with you until you are 100% satisfied with the job. read more

I called KRN during a rainy storm and they were able to come right when the rain ceased. They were very accommodating with my schedule and respectful of my time. Avi came and assessed my roof and assured me that our roof did not need to be replaced as some other companies have said (phew!). Instead he suggested the area that needed attention due to cracking to be repaired. We scheduled a repair for the following day however the weather did not permit and further damaged our existing damaged. Avi squeezed us into his schedule and returned to fix the damaged with the initial quote given although my roof was now further damaged. I had some wood damage and needed some work on the patio and large beams on the front porch. I also wanted to replace the 1980's lights in the kitchen something I wanted to do for years. I saw the KRN ad in the home magazine and held on to it because they specialized in wood rot and other remodeling work as well. So I thought one contractor for all of it. I had some estimates from the past and people who didn't show. I called KRN and Avi came out the next day. We discussed fixing vs replacement. He was willing to do either. I opted to replace as the wood was 38 years old. This was apparent when it was torn down. Avi is easy to work with and really listened to all my concerns. I gave me a detail list of what was to be done and we agreed on the price and design. The city of Thousand Oaks threw in more requirements and KRN paid for an engineering study at no extra cost ($2,200) to me because the slab was not thick enough. He also had to dig a 2 foot foundation for the posts and add a large beam which gives a great view from the door. Avi also put up two porch lights and replaced the faucet outside when it gave out no charge. Just paid him and mention I need a third coat of paint on an attic door in the ceiling. He is sending a man to do that. Avi takes care of details and doesn't argue The crew was great and hard working. The finished job is very well built. The little things really count when you are doing construction especially in Thousand Oaks you are sometimes at the whim of the building department. I wish I could give a review on the actual work this company does, but I cannot. I had one of their people arrive at my home on time on a Thursday for a bid. I could tell by his body language that he was not very interested in taking on my project, but he said that he would send me a bid that night and I very much looked forward to receiving it. I did NOT receive the bid that night, so I contacted him the next day and asked if he still intended on sending me the bid. He apologized for not getting it to me when he said he would but he promised that he would send it on Monday. Monday came and went, no bid has arrived. On Tuesday I reached out to them via their webpage asking if they still intended to give me a bid or not. Again, I got no response. One week later, on another Thursday I contacted the office and got a hold of his assistant and told her that I wanted to know whether or not they were even interested in this job because I had been promised twice already that they would send a bid but both times they did not send it at all. She said she would call me back. When she called me back she said that they have been very busy and that they just don't have the time for my job. She blamed herself for not getting back to me at all. I told her that it would have been nice to know from the get go that they weren't interested in the job instead of keep promising a delivery of a bid and just ghosting me, and if that was a reflection of how they do their work that I was glad to know now rather than in the middle of the job. Avi then called me back and asked me what the problem was. I explained that he told me that he would send me a written bid last Thursday, but did not. That when I called him he apologized and said he would send it on Monday but again did not, and that his assistant said that they were just too busy to deal with me. He got upset and said that "no no we are not too busy" and he went on to say how much better they are because they actually showed up for the bid in the first place and that he still had questions regarding my project. These were all questions he asked when he was here and I had already answered them. When I told him that I was disappointed and that I would simply write a review of my experiences, he go a bit panicky and said that it is easy for me to just write a review but as a business owner it is much harder. I replied, "well I don't like being lied to" and he got very offended by that word. I reiterated that twice he promised to deliver a bid by a certain time and twice he did not deliver. He said "a week is still a reasonable amount of time." This is true, if he had told me it may take about a week to get the bid, there would have been zero issues, but since he kept promising to have it to me by certain dates, and not delivering, THAT is where I take issue. I kept telling him that he no longer had to send a bid because if this was the way he did business, I wasn't interested in working with him. But, after much discussion, he said he would work on my bid and get it to me by tonight. He did send a bid but it was over double the cost of another bid I had received. My wife and I are pretty sure that they simply did not want to take our job and by sending an outrageously prices bid, that was their way of getting out of the job. Again, if they didn't want the job, they should have just said so. If it was going to take a week to get the bid to me, they should have just said so, but instead they kept promising over and over they would get me the bid by a certain time, and they kept failing to fulfill that promise. I consider this indicative of the way they do business and I wouldn't trust them to fulfill any promises. I think I dodged a bullet. read more

After 20 years, I finally pulled the trigger to get my house out of the 1950's. Avi offered a very fair bid to replace the siding in front along with the insulation in the attic. It was such a pleasurable experience working with Avi and his team during the heat wave in September. Everyone is so friendly and knowledgeable working very fast. Yesterday my dream came through at last. We finished up on a project that I have wanted to do for a long time. It started with replacing a sun room, that did nothing but collect dust and dirt. It was replaced with a new room addition, that I love. But the project didn't end there. How is shopping for a general contractor like shopping for airline tickets? Well, it seems most people seek out the cheapest possible for both. What follows is complaining at best and getting out and out angry at worst. People buy the cheapest tickets they can find then complain about service. Many do the same when hiring a contractor. Is KRN Construction, owned by Avi Alperin, the cheapest contractor you will find? Probably not, but then in my opinion you do not want to hire the cheapest one you can find. Avi is exceptional. You will get an excellent result at a fair price. He uses the best materials, his workers are his employees, not subs. That's important, in IMO it's very important. A common complaint that I've heard many times about general contractors is poor communication. They don't respond to phone calls or emails. Avi was remarkably quick in responding to any inquiry I may have had. I had KRN Construction repair two patio covers that had developed dry rot. The repairs were professionally and done without any delays. At the completion of the job there were a few minor details I wanted addressed. Avi had them dealt with quickly and effectively. I needed some minor work done on my house due to some water damage, so I called the number and spoke with a person named Avi. He seemed enthusiastic to come over and inspect the damage and provide me with an estimate, so we made an appointment for the following Friday. I made sure I was there that day but unfortunately nobody showed up. I didn't receive any calls to confirm or cancel our appointment. I called again a week later and the same person, Avi, told me he would have someone call me back to reschedule. Mind you, I received no apology for not showing up for our appointment. Again I didn't receive a call back after a couple of weeks, so I called him again a third time (this time mainly due to principle). He now indicated that they were on vacation and assured me someone will call me back the following day. It's been two weeks since that conversation and no call back. Needless to say, I feel like I dodged a bullet on this one since they obviously do not seem like a reliable company. read more

My parents hired Avi in October 2019 to remove the wall between their kitchen and dining room. He said it would take 30 days to complete. It took over 3 months. He seemed to know it was a bearing wall but never divulged that to my parents. His M.O. seems to be baffling people with bs by talking incessantly, in circles, and with conviction. The wall did have mold inside of it and a pipe in the way which was part of the setback. But the biggest setback by far was Avi himself. Many times he would have his crew work partial days and half or less than a full work week. He lied about some material that had to dry before proceeding when in fact it was already dry. He also lied about passing an inspection - which he didn't. My parents had to live with a mess of a kitchen, dining room, and front room and couldn't even put up their Christmas tree because of it. His painters lied to my parents about the sheen of the paint they were using. It was supposed to be semi-gloss but it was high-gloss and they knew it. Avi charged my parents an exorbitant extra amount for a "change order". This amount should have been included in the original contract. It was as if he was saying, "my original bid is no longer any good". That seems very unethical to me. He took such extreme advantage of my parents that they felt like it was senior abuse. My mother got to the point where she could no longer stand talking or listening to Avi because she would start screaming at him. In January 2020 my parents negotiated for a release from the contract because they could no longer stomach his presence in their house or on their property and my entire family concurred. This review is not hearsay as I was at my parents house virtually every evening for 3 months during this "30 day" project so I saw all of this with my own eyes. Hire him at your own peril. read more
