a blue food truck parked in a parking lot

While visiting a friend we went to a food truck rally and chose Prickly Pear for our dining experience. I got the Lil' Havana Bowl and the Prickly Pear Limeade and both were delicious. The avocado crema was SO good and the caramelized onions were a great added flavor. The prickly pear limeade was sweet and a little tart, it was a perfect treat! I wish I lived closer, I'd definitely frequent Prickly Pear if I could!

    Pork tacos! $8

I've been resisting stopping in at these food trucks, mostly just to save money and not eat out. But now I have a problem... I've tried prickly pear. I might go broke now because I'll want to go all the time I had the Pork Tacos. They come as a plate of 3. These arent little tacos either, they are overflowing, very filling tacos! I got 2 prepared as they are on the menu, and one prepared like the chicken and tri-tip tacos (yes... Tri-tip tacos!) The chicken taco way puts a delicious topping of pick de Gallo, an avocado crema and cojita cheese. Soooo good. That crema adds such a refreshing cool taste. The normal way for the pork tacos is with a pineapple salsa and Sriracha creme. The citrus from the pineapple and a squeeze of lime really brings the pork to life. I tried the salsa verde and rojo. Both are amazing. I prefer the salsa verde, but I usually do anyway and it has a little more heat. In both tacos the shredded pork was moist and delicious. You get 2 tortillas per tacos, and they are really good tortillas that actually hold up to the massive amount of food that gets stuffed in them! I'm drooling just writing this... Time to go back for more!

Havana bowl with chicken, sweet corn cakes, chicken tacos

Fantastic! My wife had the chicken tacos, I had the Havana bowl, and we shared the corn cakes. All were muy sabroso! Prices are $9 for mains with chicken or pork, $12 for steak. Avocado crema comes on almost everything (thankfully!) and is so tasty. Sweet corn cakes with avocado crema were a highlight and an absolute steal @ $3 for 2. Definitely underpriced. Friendly service too! We will be back very soon.

Packed Chicken tacos for the win!

Absolutely the best food truck in the Valley. Everything is fresh and filling. Love the salsa Verde! The owners are awesome too.

Had a wonderful experience at my first time eating at Lucy's Taco Shop! I ate in their spotless…read moredining area (the restroom was immaculate too). They have a huge menu on display. There are 27 combo plates that include rice and refried beans. Most are bargain priced at $14.25 (only three were $17 for shrimp). I had a burrito bowl with carnitas. It was very tasty with a large portion of pork, pico de gallo, rice, refried beans, guacamole and sour cream topped with shredded lettuce and cheese. It was a lot to eat for $13. Portions are substantial and most patrons left with a box to take the remainder of their meals home. They have long hours from 7 am to 11 pm seven days a week. I noticed that they have an extensive breakfast menu too. Delivery of the food was very fast both for the dining in and drive-thru customers. One thing to note about their location. They're in the former Jack in the Box building on the corner of Cheryl Lane and Highway 99 across from the vacant Ray's Food Place in Phoenix. If you're driving from the south on Highway 99 you cannot cross the median to drive into the restaurant. You need to turn left at the light into the Ray's parking lot (or drive straight at the light into Ray's if coming from I-5), turn right and cross Cheryl Lane to get into their parking area or turn into the drive-thru for Lucy's Taco Shop. Leaving is back through the parking area to Cheryl Lane. Phoenix has a confusing interchange to get onto I-5. When you're leaving. drive past the Chevron station to turn left by the former Rite Aid to head towards the freeway entrances. Join Highway 99 in either direction from the light coming out of Ray's parking lot. It's worth the driving logistics the first time to get to Lucy's Taco Shop to support this family owned business. I know it won't be the last time I eat there!

Totally impressed by this taco spot! We ordered the Super Nachos, a beef taco, and a chicken…read moretamale. We've been stuck on the East Coast for 15 years and I legit almost cried after my first bite of tamale - it tasted like home. Pro tip: get the half order of nachos unless you're trying to go into a food coma. We still crushed every last chip and were absolutely stuffed, but there was no way we were letting any of it go to waste.
