My husband and I have been coming here for over five years and we have never had a meal that wasn't absolutely delicious. I am 100% addicted to their Chile Verde sauce. I come in and buy it almost every week to use it at home. There are so many things that they do well here but, speaking of addictions, I just adore their Carnitas Tacos. We've come in with other friends and they've ordered things that look absolutely delicious but when it comes right down to it I just can't seem to order anything else. My husband is the same way about their Quesadillas. We just can't seem to help ourselves. That being said, I will tell you that on occasion we have tried their Birria Tacos which are divine and their Tacos Dorado con Pollo, which are super delicious. Since I'm from San Diego, I was craving Mexican food. I searched on Yelp and found La Reyna. It's a cute place adjacent to a tire store, which might seem odd, but hey, you can get new tires and grab some delicious food. I ordered a chicken taco, asada taco, and a birria taco. I should've got some consomme but the birria was still good. I also got a carne asada quesadilla, and that was really good to. The woman who helped me was really friendly and I felt like I was at a friend's abuela's house. I do wish I was able to get the chicken mole, but that will have to wait until next time! Been on the list for awhile and finally had the chance to give 'em a go. Sadly, no more $1 tacos... even though their exterior window still advertises them. What we did order was good and filling. Their corn tortillas appeared handmade and were bigger than Other places. Prices were extremely high given the many other options for Mexican in this area. The menu was a bit clunky and hard to understand what you get for what (see antojitos mexicanos portion of menu). With so many other great Mexican spots in The Valley I don't see us heading here again anytime soon. read more

On our drive from Seattle to San Diego, we stayed overnight in a small city called Medford. We pulled out our trusty Yelp app to see if there would be anything interesting to eat and La Reyna Monarca popped up at the top of the list with five stars and rave reviews. Off we went after unpacking our bags and when we got to the parking lot, we thought we had missed the last call (the "Open" sign was turned off and we couldn't see very well through the tinted windows). Thankfully, they were still open and had three other tables of customers. They all seemed to be regulars. The restaurant itself was very clean and spacious and the proprietors were super nice. We ordered the carne asada, lengue, and al pastor tacos plus a burrito supreme. We also wanted to order some horchatas, but they were out and the lady at the front suggested the hibiscus tea (Jamaica) and even gave us a sample to try. It was delicious, not too sweet, and super refreshing on a warm summer evening. Before our order came, the lady brought us some chips and salsa. The chips were soooo good! The tacos and burritos were delicious as well, and they made the Mexican food we usually have in NYC pale in comparison. We felt like we had been invited into some Mexican family's home and were fortunate enough to get a taste of their home cooking! If you live in Medford, you are very lucky to have this restaurant in your neighbourhood. If you drive through Medford, stop by and give it a try. You can thank me later! read more

My 5 star review is based on my first experience...I foresee coming here many more times. Super friendly staff that mainly speak Spanish, but can definitely explain their menu and such in English. This has got to be one of the only places I've been to in So Oregon that makes HOMESTYLE, legit, Mexican. I ordered their Enchiladas Michoacanas (which I had never heard of before). I received 3 pan fried tortillas that were dipped in housemade red sauce, sprinkled with cotija cheese inside and rolled up, topped with shredded chicken breast that was tossed in that same red sauce, then covered with shredded lettuce, Mexican crema, crumbled cotija, and slices of tomato and avocado. No rice and beans for this offering (but you can probably request them), this plate is served with a side of pan fried potatoes n carrots. What?!!! It sounded interesting and so, I ordered it. The flavor combos totally work and even if I end up not liking anything else here (doubtful), this offering will keep me coming back....and they're right, it tastes homemade. This isn't your typical "drown it in sauce and cover it with melted cheese" place. Sorry to break it to you, but that's not real Mexican. I was also given a mug of their Atole...basically, it's a sweet, thick, dessert-like drink that's hot. The one they made for me is "Galletas María"...mindblown. Galletas María (Literal translation: Maria's Cookies) are like, the Mexican 'Nilla wafer. I was skeptical, but oh man, that took me back...totally tastes like those cookies. I'm sold. read more

Went here for a late father's day with my daughter after getting home from LA. Ordered birria, al pastor, Carne asada, and carnitas. Beans and rice were the only thing that was good. And they're not that great, but better than any of the tacos we ordered. The birria was just straight grease and had literally no flavor at all. Even the consome was just straight grease. Like literally just bad. The carnitas tacos tasted like just roated pork. No seasoning, no spice or heat. Just plain boiled or roasted pork. And one of my tacos came with 3 huge chunks of cartilage for free, which wouldve been fine if they were good enough that i just pulled it out of my mouth as i destroyed a carnitas taco. But not the case. Al pastor was ok, but just ok. Asada was passable and even kind of good. To say that the experience was subpar would be an understatement. The staff filled in the gaps of my terrible Spanish when ordering. So, language is not an issue, but know that the menu is in Spanish, so you might want to decided before you go. The tacos were the winner among the items we ordered. I'll be back just for the Al Pastor. They were amazing, moist and flavorful meat on super fresh tortillas. The asada was also very good but lacked the pastor's wow factor. The chili relleno had great flavor and was packed with cheese. The sauce was flavorful without being very spicy. The only downside is it was a bit to soggy and thar was a textural distraction. Another standout item was the pollo/chicken fajitas. The combo plate was huge. The chicken was very moist and full of flavor both from marinade and char grilling. It was severed over a nice bed of peppers and onions that weren't over cooked. It came with avocado slices, pico de gallo, rices and refried beans. The rice has a nice light flavor and fluffy texture. The beans were yummy. Whipped smooth and creamy. I'll be back in cooler weather to try some of the soup and stew dishes on the menu. read more
