Fantastic server promptly set us up with skinny margaritas on the rocks then we ordered our favs, chicken mole for him and shrimp tacos for me. Both were fantastic!! My shrimp tacos were so good, the shrimp actually tasted like it was fresh from the sea! So much flavor! With sautéed onions, a great combo! We always stay here in GP on our road trips between WA & CA and we will definitely come back El Charro Viejo next time we're in town! Yummy!

Went here with my family yesterday, food was terrible I got a burrito but it was more like a salt log wrapped In a tortilla. My husband got the super nachos and half the chips were burnt and the other half were soggy. My daughter got a "super" normal sized quesadilla that was dry as dry can be and the prices for this nasty food is through the roof I wish jonnys was still there. That was good food. read more

I've eaten here several times and its been great every time. Love the self service salsa bar. They have also expanded the menu to include Tortas and Breakfast Items. A much larger menu compared to competitors. Line was out the door the other day but didn't have time to wait. This place is growing in popularity quickly. Watch out Si Casa. read more

Went there for my first time the other week and i got to say very good and homemade showed up a lil late not knowing they were closing and they still let me in ordered 4 tacos and they were loaded make in less than 10 min and had to wait 30 seconds for fresh guac but thats fine with me! There are 27 combo plates that include rice and refried beans. Most are bargain priced at $14.25 (only three were $17 for shrimp). I had a burrito bowl with carnitas. It was very tasty with a large portion of pork, pico de gallo, rice, refried beans, guacamole and sour cream topped with shredded lettuce and cheese. It was a lot to eat for $13. Portions are substantial and most patrons left with a box to take the remainder of their meals home. They have long hours from 7 am to 11 pm seven days a week. I noticed that they have an extensive breakfast menu too. Delivery of the food was very fast both for the dining in and drive-thru customers. One thing to note about their location. They're in the former Jack in the Box building on the corner of Cheryl Lane and Highway 99 across from the vacant Ray's Food Place in Phoenix. If you're driving from the south on Highway 99 you cannot cross the median to drive into the restaurant. You need to turn left at the light into the Ray's parking lot (or drive straight at the light into Ray's if coming from I-5), turn right and cross Cheryl Lane to get into their parking area or turn into the drive-thru for Lucy's Taco Shop. Leaving is back through the parking area to Cheryl Lane. Phoenix has a confusing interchange to get onto I-5. When you're leaving. drive past the Chevron station to turn left by the former Rite Aid to head towards the freeway entrances. Join Highway 99 in either direction from the light coming out of Ray's parking lot. It's worth the driving logistics the first time to get to Lucy's Taco Shop to support this family owned business. I know it won't be the last time I eat there!
