Stopped into Pretzel & Pizza Creations for lunch while walking around downtown Frederick on a Saturday and honestly didn't expect to like it as much as I did. The setup is classic slice shop style. You order at the counter, grab a number, and they bring the food out to you. The space is cozy with mostly 2 tops that can be pushed together plus a few 4 tops in the back. Nothing fancy, but it fits the vibe of a quick casual stop while exploring the area. One of the coolest parts is you can watch them make the dough right in front of you, which adds to the experience especially if you're waiting on food. The big hook here is the pretzel dough and it absolutely delivers. It's not gimmicky at all. It actually enhances everything. We ordered the buffalo chicken pizza and the Philly cheesesteak calzone. Both came out hot and fresh pretty quickly. The buffalo chicken pizza was the standout for me. The crust was soft and pillowy like a legit soft pretzel and paired really well with the buffalo chicken and drizzle of ranch. Super satisfying without being too heavy. The cheesesteak calzone was more dense, but in a good way. It held all the meat, cheese, and fillings together really well without falling apart. Definitely hearty. Honestly, it's tough to pick between the two, so if you're with someone else I'd recommend doing exactly what we did and splitting both. Also worth mentioning they have a surprisingly strong ice cream selection, which makes this a great one stop spot for both lunch and dessert. The pretzels aren't bad. Service is awful. We were only one of 3 people in the entire place and it took us 30min to get our food. The girl that was taking orders was also incredibly rude. There was also an employee throwing up in the bathroom the entire time. So maybe they were just having an off day. But overall.... I'd say go to any of the other cool spots in Frederick. read more

I really want to like this place more. It brings good energy to town, and always smells good when you walk by. It used to be a lifesaver with it's (former) late hours But the prices have creeped up, while the quality and quantity have declined. I'll use their Reuben sandwich as an example, because it is something I consistently order. The last one I bought was below the threshold of me ordering it again. It was literally one slice of beef, some very thick bread, and a heaping scoop of sour kraut. It was nowhere near worth the inflated $13 price tag. They employ a lot of young people behind the counter, which I support, but it seems very confusing and without order back there. I have to wonder if anyone is in charge of quality control? I'll just stick to the pretzels. It's difficult to mess those up. A $4.50 pretzel would have been more satisfying than that $13 Reuben. read more

Loved the food the last time I was here a while ago, and I saw they had a food truck! So I emailed them to inquire about their food truck services like their website said to (3/2). When I didn't hear back after about a week I called the restaurant and asked for a manager to talk to. The guy on the phone was quite rude and said there wasn't one there. When I asked if there was a better time to call back, he also said no and they'll email me back. I sent a follow up email on 3/11 and still haven't heard anything today 3/31. I can't say enough positive things about the food here! The crust and bread were so soft and flavorful from the first bite to the last! The chicken pesto sandwich was so fresh and tasty! I would give the food 10 stars if I could and the strawberry shortcake shake with alcohol was amazing! Highly recommend! Came here after a friends bridal shower in the area. The last time I visited was a few years ago, and I felt curious about how my experience would be, and today it was fairly decent! The shop is known for their pretzel based foods, especially pizza and having really good stuffed pretzels. We ordered pizza, a hotdog, inside out mozzarella sticks, and stuffed pretzels and I can say that my stuffed pretzel was the main highlight of the meal! We had a half cheese, half pepperoni and bacon pizza and it was definitely loaded up! It really only tasted like pretzel crust though on the actual pizza crust and not as much throughout the pizza. The inside out mozzarella sticks were basically just cheesy bread, which was pretty good. What I will say is our service here was good as well(friendly staff), but there were a few disruptions in the restaurant while we were there, including some somewhat rowdy customers and an employee storming out the back door, which was initially concerning, and I hope they're ok. Kinda different than the last time we were there. In terms of the space, it's actually pretty laid-back and definitely is laid out like a casual pizza joint . There's a kiosk you can order from, but you can also order from the main counter. I would definitely come back here and order a pretzel again, and I think it would be a good spot to grab and go too, and walk around in the downtown area. read more

We really enjoyed the veggie pizza. It's a cute shop with a unique concept. Good amount of veggies on the pizza (no skimping and no overloading with onions), good cheese pull without being overwhelming, just the right touch of sauce, and the pretzel crust adds a nice twist to the flavor profile. Definitely not authentic but still fun. Our pizza did need, oddly, a sprinkle of salt on the pizza itself To make the flavors pop but other than that it was quite good. Let me start with - service was amazing. We were greeted upon opening the door and given a physical copy of the menu. We ordered the BBQ Chicken Pizza and on a last minute glance, I asked for the sweet stuffed pretzel with chocolate chips. We waited about 15 minutes or so for the pizza which was actually pretty quick! They had News on the TV which is a little daunting for a pizza place but to each their own. When the pizza came out to our table, it was great. I've been here previously but only got the cheese last time (which was also very good!) so this was a fun new try. Maybe 3-5 minutes after the pizza came out, the single pretzel came out which looked promising. I had a piece of it from the top was really enjoyable. Then I tried to break another piece off and it was just.. tough. So I flipped the pretzel over and saw the bottom of it was pretty burnt up. I was kind of disappointed with that because I really dislike the burnt taste and it kind of ruined that one for me. Otherwise, the pizza was great and cooked well too. One word: INCREDIBLE. You must go here, everything was absolutely delicious. My friends and I came here after a hike nearby craving some carbs and refreshments, and Pretzel and Pizza did not disappoint. We got the inside out mozz sticks, a calzone, some sandwiches, and another patron shared their pizza with us ha! The inside out mozzarella sticks are absolutely a must get - they're served on sweet, buttery, pretzel sticks, covered w/ cheese and served w/ marinara. These were probably my favorite thing. We got them for the table but I was getting a little possessive of these lol! The pretzel sandwiches were good but not as impressive as the other foods. I got the Philly cheesesteak calzone and it was absolutely insane. It was huge (I only ate 1/4 and had to take it home!) and with the pretzel dough, just incredible. I'd definitely recommend this! I'll be back to try other flavors. Another patron couldn't finish their pizza - it was huge so they shared some with us and it was also great! It has pretzel dough but since it's flattened, it's not quite as pretzel-y as the other products. Make note that it is kind of small inside so if you come at peak mealtimes, you may have to wait and/or not get a seat. Overall, this was a solid 5+ star experience. What a fun concept! We met friends here and all had a good time. Our biggest concern was how crowded it was inside for a Saturday lunch. The Philly cheese steak sandwich was a very solid option. The pretzel bread had a noticeable flavor too which was what we wanted. Maybe just odd it had lettuce and tomato. The pesto pizza was perfectly done with the exact right ratio of cheese to pesto. I could also remove the chicken to make it vegetarian. The crust itself was soft yet firm. If I hadn't known I wouldn't have guessed it was pretzel. Great for a unique experience, but probably not somewhere we would visit repeatedly as the food was all very good, but not exceptional. We tried the pretzel cheese pizza, the pretzel hot dog, and a chicken pesto pretzel sandwich. Surveying the group, we all had different favorites, although overall we thought the pizza was the best and definitely the most repeatable. We tried to order takeout on a Saturday evening around 7pm during the pandemic and we found it was easier to dine on their outdoor patio. The wait was only 10 minutes for our food to arrive! The menu is HUGE and is perfect for kids. With pretzels, pretzel wrapped hot dogs and pizza on the menu, our four-year-old was in heaven! Our daughter had an eight inch cheese pizza and my wife and I could barely finish a sixteen inch Hawaiian. The dough is made from pretzel dough and is sweeter than most pizza dough. It was unique and good! For dessert, we ordered a giant pretzel stuffed with chocolate chips. We found the sweetness level to be enough, but if you need more, you can buy Nutella dipping sauce for 75 cents. read more

This place felt like a blast from the past pizza shop from the 90s and 2000s because of the vibe of the shop. It was amazing. I felt like a kid going there for a pizza party. I was a little skeptical of the concept but loved it and the execution was flawless. The bianca pizza was delicious but the true star is the crust. The pizza crust was perfect and so soft. Highly recommend Pretzel & Pizza Creations. Pizza: Possibly my favorite! The server said many people add bacon and it adds great mix of texture with the softer ricotta and sauce. Also adds a great saltiness to balance the flavors. The dough is soft and fresh. It's not very salty the way typical pretzels are (with all of the salt flakes), but it has almost a hint of that sweetness as well. Apps: We had the mozzarella pretzel sticks which was great. The marinara dipping sauce was watery, though. Service: Service was very quick once seated. There seemed to be some confusion about the protocol as I believe they have a sign indicating you must call when you arrive for carry out. We tried: Turkey cheddar avocado on pretzel focaccia + sub chips for a side Caesar salad Philly cheesesteak on pretzel focaccia + chips Chocolate chip & bacon pretzel with caramel Cheddar pretzel with honey mustard 1 bag of extra chips (We thought they were made in house but they were just utz bags lol) Everything came out to about $50. I added mushrooms on the turkey sandwich, & there were hardly any. It was a little laughable when I opened the sandwich and showed my husband; I should've taken a pic. I subbed a Caesar salad as my side for $4 and didn't receive it. The Philly sandwich was good and the pretzels were decent, but there was hardly any filling in the stuffed pretzels, so we should've just got regular pretzels & some sauces. Overall the food is okay, and seemingly creative, but I think the people working there just don't care much so it falls short and didn't match the price point (especially not receiving what we paid for).
