Quality suffering since my last few visits... color wall depleted and inflated prices. I get prices going up but charging $40 for a basic pedicure that includes no scrubs, no scents, no gel polish, no designs, regular polish (limits colors), and just water in the basin I'm thinking it's a little too pricey. Found out this place was recently purchased by Red Nails down the street. The lady that did my nails today was a little aggressive with the tools and felt a little rushed even though I was the only other customer there on a Saturday afternoon .... I was pleased with my pedicure, however this store did not have a written list of services and prices. I asked for a basic pedicure, and I was charged 10.00 over the going rate. The staff did not know how to add a credit card tip. The owner who was not in the store at the time, caught me when he came back and was able to do a credit card tip. The gentleman that did my pedicure did a great job, but this is a place you're supposed to be able to go and relax, but the owner has two kids that were there, and they were screaming the whole time at the top of their lungs, which was very unprofessional, and very distracting. I've been coming here for a short time but I don't think I'll be coming back. read more

So disappointed with my experience at Pretty Nails. My mom and I went for mani and pedis and had appointments placed in advanced. My mom had an okay experience, but mine was on a whole other level. My lady rushed and did my pedicure in half the time as my mom so she could get over to a lady who walked in. I waited about 20 minutes for her to come back to me and spent under 5 minutes "prepping" my nails for manicure. Left hang nails and cuticles on. She went back to walk-in lady so another guy came over and painted my nails. That too was super sloppy to the point where there were air bubbles on my nails, I pointed it out and he tried to paint over, I made him go back and turns out there was hair or clothing string stuck underneath the paint. He finished up and said he'd come back to do top clear coat and never did. 30 minutes later when my mom was wrapping up we asked if they were coming back to finish me up. Guy forgot so her guy finished me up. We expressed our frustration with my attention and all he said was yeah we're really busy everyone wants their nails done by us. If you're that busy, you shouldn't take on that much work at the sacrifice of people who actually have appointments. Hands down worst mani pedi experience I've had. Would give them no stars, but my mom's guy did a decent job at least. Oh, and as I was walking out, my original pedi lady ran over with my nail polish color and started painting my toe nail as I was leaving unsolicited. Either she could see her sloppy work from afar, or that was a way to get a last minute tip (at that point my mom had paid for us both and gave the tip to her guy to split amongst himself, and the 3 total people that tag teamed my nails ) Attached pictures. I don't even think they deserve the one star I'm giving them. The nail tech cut my hand. I have a big cut now on my ring finger. I have so many bubbles in my nails. The color is see through and looks terrible. I asked for square round and they gave me square so I had to ask them to redo it. They look so awful. They left me sitting for twenty minutes in between to start on somebody else. They rushed through it. I'm very upset that I was treated this way and very upset especially since I waited and didn't say anything about them cutting my hand. In my photos the lighting is bad so you can't see the bubbles and how the color doesn't match each other because of uneven painting. read more

I would give this place a 0/5 if I could. I regularly get gel pedicures. The lady who started my pedicure tried to peel off my gel without soaking my nails or anything. I had to tell her she was hurting me multiple times. I paid for a deluxe pedi and all she did was rub my legs with oil before trying to paint my toenails. I asked her to stop while she was painting because there was polish everywhere and her hair marks in my polish. A guy followed her and had to fully redo my nails. The pedicure took over two hours. I have been to every nail salon in the Cottage Grove/SPPark area and I prefer this spot. Their prices are the most competitive, they are well staffed and it doesn't stink of acrylic nail glue. They have a good variety of polish colors that don't look like a 7 year old has been using them! The decor is nice, neutral. I haven't experienced bad music in here yet! Update- Celine Dion's my heart will go on just started playing.... I'll admit, I kinda liked it. Bonus they have brow waxing, but I haven't utilized that service yet so I can't comment on experience. The ladies here are nice, no catty vibes here. My 92 year old Gma gets her nails done here almost once a week and has for 2 years. She tried some other spots but Pretty nails treats her well and she is always raving about the nail salon. Gotta give her credit at 92 her vanity prevails, she gets her hair and nails did once a week. She can barely walk or see but be dammed if her hair and nails aren't on point. If you don't want to trust my review due to my severe lacking of vanity, then take heed from my grandma, this spot is a gem. She worked fast and efficiently - I know she was rushing but she did not spare the quality of her work. My nails are beautiful, I made it to my event and she calmed my anxiety. Took my daughter to Pretty Nail to get a full set. Hadn't been there in awhile. Was always satisfied in the past but not this time. They charged us to remove her polish and to file coffin style. No other place has done this. They left air bubbles and streaks in her polish and did not clean up around her nails. The 20 dollar full set is a joke. My daughter stopped going there because she felt that because she's a teen that they just rush through, even stop to answer the phone or help other customers several times when she was just getting a manicure! I've been here lots of times. Today, I walked in at 6:30 p.m. I was told it would be 10 minutes. Then, I sat in the chair while my foot was soaking for almost 45 minutes. They served three women who came in after me, and I never got served on. I asked how much longer do I need to wait, and they said I can take my foot out of the tub. I said, how long? I had a gel mani/pedi there and while my pedi looked great for over two weeks, my mani began to chip and even had two entire gels fall off after three days. I called and they said to come in and they would fix it. They were clearly very busy when I went in but I was happy to wait. After about an hour, I finally was seated at a table but the woman literally ripped off all my gels (no acetone, which is the proper way to remove gels without stripping the natural nail), used the electric file on my natural nails in addition to that, then redid the polish pretty much as quickly as humanly possible, reminding me multiple times to "be careful" with my nails after she fixed them. They lasted about a week then began to chip as well - better than the first time, but I have never had a gel manicure from another place start to chip before two weeks. When I left, there was still powder from her filing down my nails on my hands and she had spilled topcoat on my hand and arm. I absolutely will not come back here. The reason I am giving two stars and not one is because they did not charge me to "fix" my manicure the second time. read more

I've been coming here for years and I think the service is great and the prices are reasonable. Sometimes it's better to have an appointment because they sure get busy especially during the hours of lunch and after work and weekends. Whenever I've had an appointment everything was perfect, sometimes when I just walk in I might have to wait but that's to be expected when you go somewhere that is appreciated so much. I'm not one to write reviews, especially not negative ones; but after my visit to pretty nails this evening, i'm here to warn others about the negative experience i have encountered. I had walked in with a family member to get my nails done, which i have not in years and wanted to feel good about myself. The manager asked us as soon as we entered what we wanted; as to where my family member replied with "a fill, and a set of acrylic nails". We waited patiently for about 30 minutes as we were browsing color swatches. My family member had gotten helped before me and i was waiting until the next available artist. I was approached by the artist and all she had asked me was what color i was going with today and didn't say anything else (i was under the impression she had communicated with the manager and knew what i was wanting since she never asked). I can tell she isn't having a good day and was hoping it wouldn't effect the customer service. I sit down at the table and she starts giving me a manicure (which i've never had before); She was pretty rough with it. afterwards she had asked me if i was suppose to get acrylics done and i answered confused "yeah" because i thought that was what was being worked on. She then apologizes and says she's "out of it today". So then i had to choose a different color then what i had planned and thought hard about. Moments later, she gets up to go speak with the manager as i'm sitting there a little upset at that time. After she comes back the manager comes up to me and notifies me that next time i have to tell the artist exactly what i want (even though i was under the impression she knew because i was asked when i walked in). At that point i just was ready to get my nails done and get the hell out! I thought how unprofessional; you had just apologized to me and stated it was your fault. She starts getting very rough with my nails and in a hurry herself which upset me because i'm paying to have these done for the first time in YEARS! She's continuing with my nails and i look at my fingers and on my thumb and middle finger, my cuticles are bleeding. She's all done and i go to wash my hands, and i can see there is a pretty significant gap as to where my cuticle is and the acrylic that was applied. I then walk back to the table to see if i could check out and before i could say anything she asks me "so are you going to pay?".. Excuse me? I could have had an attitude with her and demanded a discount for the horrible customer service i had received, but i was nice and put everything besides me hoping she would be professional. We then go to checkout and come to find out that she charged me for the $5 manicure (which isn't what i asked for) and i still tipped her $20 without complaining one bit! I didn't even get a Thank you for my service from her or for tip. The manager said Happy easter, but not a word from her which i thought was extremely disrespectful! I used to come to this establishment before the new management and had never had a problem! If this is how you're going to treat a customer who still tips generously after awful service, then i'll find myself a different establishment (which i'll have no problem doing considering this isn't the only nail salon in cottage grove). It's not that hard to fake a smile and pretend to be nice once in a while; considering i sat there the whole time without a single amount of attitude! I come home and can see a pretty significant amount of cuticle was ripped. My cuticles are now scabbed and swollen from how rough she was on my nails. read more

Absolutely awful experience. I normally go to a place in Woodbury but wanted to find a place closer to home. They guaranteed me they could do what I wanted (I have real nails not acrylic). First they cut & filed my nails different lengths on both hands, & the right hand was longer than the left. They had to redo my nails (take off polish & redo) 3 times because they couldn't figure out how to get the lines on the design thinner & they treated me awful because they had to keep redoing them. Then when they figured that out they put on a coat of polish on only half the nails, did the french tips, then PART of the design, then 2 top coats, had me dry them & then put on some more of the design (forgetting to do the last part of the design), & then added another top coat. The polish dried on most of the nails in a wave & then started coming off (too thick). Called & the refused to give me a refund & would only let me come in to have them redone again! Would rate 0 stars if it would let me!!! read more
