Since Mirai does not offer acrylic nails, I agreed to try their Gel-X service. My natural nails were cut down in preparation for the application. What should have been a routine appointment turned into a nearly four-hour ordeal. The Gel-X application alone took approximately three hours, followed by another hour for a basic pedicure. For the amount of time spent and the price charged ($130 before tip), I expected a much better result. The nails are uneven, overly thick, and have an unnatural appearance. Several nails curve dramatically downward, creating a claw-like look rather than the clean, natural shape Gel-X is known for. Looking underneath the nails, there are noticeable gaps and inconsistencies in the application. I left feeling disappointed instead of happy with the finished product. The most frustrating part is that I paid a premium price and invested half my day, only to come home considering removing the nails myself. I rarely leave negative reviews, but when a service costs this much and takes this long, the quality should reflect it. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend the Gel-X service at Mirai. I genuinely wish them well, but I will not be returning.

I will note that the color books are labeled with the same numbers for different colors in different books, so be sure to show your nail tech the exact book/color to prevent mix ups! However, I had a bad experience with the lady who removed my nails (think her name was Nancy?). 1. My nails were shaved too thin that they hurt even without pressure. As she was removing the gel, I retracted my hand several times because they hurt, but not once did she say sorry. Instead, she said that I was too sensitive. I don't believe that my nails are sensitive because they have never hurt from my many, many previous experiences removing and getting gel nails done. 2. She asked if I wanted them cut short so I said yes, but I didn't mean for them to be THAT short, encroaching on to my nail bed. Not only do my nails hurt from being too thin, but also too short. 3. I had discussed with the front desk person that I will decide if I want my nails shaped (extra charge) after getting the gel removed. She shaped them without asking me. I unfortunately did not realize that she was shaping them until it was too late because of the pain. 4. I asked the front desk person about the pain. He dismissed me saying that the prep was done wrong (I don't think it was done wrong, as I have worked with the tech before and nothing ever went wrong from application to removal) without acknowledging that the nail tech lady could have gone too far. Overall, I am very disappointed with my experience not only for the quality of service, but also the lack of concern for customer complaints.
