I've been searching for a seamstress/tailor for a long time now. I've visited a few places based on recommendations & reviews. However I never got that positive vibe from the place/person. That is until I came to Prestige Tailor Shop. It's owned and operated by a mature couple. They can come off a bit dry or curt but they're actually just reserved/old school. It's a small place with an area for the clothes, two sewing machines, a dressing room, a step up stand with three way mirror & a love seat. Like most tailor shops it looks a bit disheveled but it's actually organized chaos. On my initial visit to the shop, their was a lady in the dressing room getting many many clothes tailored, two gentlemen (that came in separately) and another woman who came in shortly after with a bag full of clothes. All within a matter of minutes. I got the impression they were all regular customers. I got a good/positive vibe so I decided to try them out. My husband selected three of his new pants, (they take the tags off for your convenience) that needed the hem fixed, to test them out. If you can't do this right then forget about it right. But we were pleasantly pleased with the work done so I brought in two of my new dresses. I was anxiously awaiting the pick up date. Hoping and praying my new dresses would look new from the store (as they were) and not tailored, like my husband's pants did. And happily they did. I have two more dresses that require a bigger degree of difficulty but I have confidence in their work now. They do quality work at reasonable prices and are accommodating for turn around times. And the tells me it taxes. When Cleary the receipt already says taxes underneath. Tipping not my issue in the fact he charge my extra without ever telling me he was going to charge me more. I recently lost 40 pounds & most of my clothes are too big. I decided to keep a few favorite pieces and see if I could get them altered. I made several visits to the shop. The first time I brought 7 pieces, an assortment of dresses, tops, shorts, and pants. I tried each piece on in the dressing room and the owner quickly pinned them up for me. One dress he said I shouldn't get altered because it would lose the style/shape of the dress & be very pricey to alter.. (I appreciated the honesty.). I was given a pickup date of one week and the price seemed fair. (All work must be paid for in advance; but it is 100% guaranteed.). The items were ready as scheduled and I picked them up. It was kind of busy and he said I could try them on at home because their work was 100% guaranteed. Everything was perfect except one pair of pants was still a little big. I brought them back a few days later to see if they could make them smaller, it was fine and there was no extra charge. I also brought a few more items to have taken in. When I picked up the next batch of items everything was perfect except one piece again. I brought it back in and they told me they could have it fixed in like two or three days. I just picked that last dress up and it is perfect now. I was very happy with the quality of the work, and the time it took to get work completed. The shop is open until 5:00 during most week days and they also have Saturday hours. They let you pay by cash or credit, which is a plus because I saw that some tailor shops only take cash.(And I never have much cash on me!) . It is super easy to find parking and convenient for people who live in Central or West Broward. I definitely recommend and will certainly be bringing more things in in the future. read more

I needed some tailoring done to a bridesmaid dress and a pair of pants, and I used Yelp to find Prestige Trailor Shop. It is right near my gym along SR 84, in the same plaza as Billy's Tavern. The shop is a single room, run by a nice couple. They might seem a little gruff to talk to, but they are very direct and not purposefully rude (some customers may demand a softer tone maybe?). You can't get an estimate price for what you need done because they charge according to how much alteration work is going to be done to each piece. My two pieces cost $42. My experience for fitting was very quick. It probably took me longer to try on the clothes than for them to measure out what needed to be done.I paid upfront, and they said my clothes would be done in a week. Pro tip: wear the exact underwear/bra and shoes/heels for specialty items, so you can get exact measurements done. Bring back your ticket stub when you pick up your clothes! Both of my clothing items fit perfectly when I got them back. I do recommend Prestige for your tailoring needs. read more

I used to go to a seamstress in the area, but I have been much happier going to Prestige. It is run by a gentleman and his wife. They are not the most effusive people. The husband is pleasant and smiles. I rarely see the wife smile. Bottom line, they are very talented. They do great alterations at very fair prices. They do the work in a quick time frame. I have never yet needed anything in an emergency. As a matter of fact once I left a dress there for a year and a half....and of course I did not have my ticket! For prom season go to them a week or week and a half before you need the dress or suit so you can get it in time. Since there are so many people who want to their clothes tailored. Normally when I go to a new place I like to read their reviews. Good and bad to compare and see if people actually had an issue or just being petty. The feedback about the customer service that was bad because of a mask comment was what made me go there. The fact that someone will rate a good business because they have a different opinion of their own is what's wrong with this world, and of course when things don't go their way, people will exaggerate. I went there, everyone was very nice and professional. They did a great job with my overall and he even saved the left over to make my puppy a top to match me. First let me say I asked the owners if they can tailor a mans suit from jacket to the pants. They assured me they can. I just moved to the area and saw the positive reviews. Well they are not tailors. They are an alteration shop. There is a big difference. They can shorten pants and hem sleeves but for real work its a joke. The stitching was amateur and they used shortcuts for all of the alterations. The jacket sleeves were different lengths and the pants looks like they were made for a hobbit. It was seriously a joke. I did not even try to get my money back because I was so over going back and forth with the owner. He comes off as confident but his workmanship is a joke. I had to go out to East Fort Lauderdale to a real tailor to repair everything. I have pics to validate this. So beware. read more

A few months ago, I went to a designer trunk show and ended up falling in love... with a pair of pants. A pair of gorgeous, wide-leg, silk, deep purple, Alice & Olivia pants. Andddd they were size 0. womp womp. I could get the pants up, over the booty and even button them, but, all my cushion (aka fat) was pushed up up up and forced to spill over the top of the high-waisted pants, a la muffin top. And of course to even just stand there with them buttoned I had to sacrifice being able to breath, so that was kind of a deal breaker. But daddy I love them! I couldn't say no to these pants, they were just too beautiful and I knew that unless I wanted to pay the retail price of $350+ (spoiler alter: I didn't) then I wouldn't be able to find these exact pants, and I wanted these EXACT pants. So, I bought them, and then I hung them in my closet, and then commenced beast mode. And now I can happily say that after two or so months, I can fit and breath easy, sans muffin top, in my glorious size 0 pants. Here's the problem: they now fit, but they still don't fit. These pants are loooong and clearly not made for my 5'4 self and not even my 5'9 self in heels. I knew I had to take them to someone who is a skilled and trustworthy tailor being that the pants have a cuff hem and that they are silk. I worked my butt off (literally) to fit into these pants and I wasn't leaving them in the care of any ol' joe with a sewing machine. Prestige Tailor came personally recommended by a good friend, and the yelp reviews, while minimal, are all positive, so I came in with my pants, along with a skirt that needed a new zipper, and crossed my fingers. It took me a few weeks to be able to make it over since they close at 6 and are only opened until 2 on Saturday. When I did finally make it, I walked in to the small shop and it was just a singular older man working. He greeted me and pointed in the direction of the changing room. When I came out, he had his square of chalk ready and when I stood on the pedestal, he bent down, folded under one leg of the pants, made a slash mark in the front and one in the back, confirmed that I wanted to keep the cuff hem and then pointed again at the changing room door. No pins? No Measurements? Two slashes of chalk and that's it? Eeeek! I was pretty nervous I gotta tell ya, but, there was also something gravely confident in the way he went about it, like he's been doing it for years and like pins are for pansies. I was pleasantly surprised when he wrote my ticket and the hem was $15 bucks. The replacement zipper was going on a leather skirt, so that he said would be $10 or more, based on how hard it is to replace. The turn around time is less than a week, so I was happy with that too. When I picked up my pants and skirt, I examined the hem closely and was really happy. The seams were matched up perfectly and the the stitches really tight. The hem was identical to the one that was there before and you couldn't at all tell that they had been altered. He told me that replacing the zipper on the leather skirt took alot of playing and adjusting, but that he finally got it.. and he only charged me $11 for it despite it not being an easy job. Very happy with his work and will definitely be coming back here for my tailoring needs! read more

I had to get a dress hemmed in 3 days so my options were limited to start with. When I called and asked if this was possible the guy's response was "bring it in". When I got to the shop I was surprised by how tiny it is. The woman had me stand up and marked the dress with chalk. I dropped it off on Mondays & they said it would be ready Wednesday! Upon returning Wednesday I brought my shoes to try the dress on and make sure it was ok. The woman got very offended I wanted to try the dress on and she wouldn't hand me the dress to try it. Owner (at least the person answering the phone and acting like it was his place) was very rude. I called for a quote on timeline for alterations and he sighs really big after answering the phone in a manner that you could barely understand, then asks me when I needed it. I tell him in a couple of days if possible. He then sighs like I have personally offended him and says, "I guess. Only if you come in today as I am here on my day off and I guess I will work you in." He was extremely rude and it was as if I was bothering him by calling. I wouldn't be able to rate the skill level and work completed by the shop as I would never grace them with my business.
