I have been looking for a solid tailor in South Florida for years, and am happy to say I finally found one thanks to Yelp. This is a great small business, which makes me even more excited to support them. He works out of the back of his home, in a private tailor studio. You call upon arrival and he greets you and walks you in. Turn around time was as expected. It took less than 2 weeks to get a suit coat and pants done. He measures you and takes note of all the spots that need to be addressed. The finished product was better than expected. Service is great, he is very friendly and helpful and easy to work with. Prices are good. It varies based on what work you need to have done. All in all a great experience and I will be a customer going forward for anything I need. read more

After reading all the positive reviews I decided this was the place to go. Martin Duncan is a master tailor who learned his craft while serving in the armed forces. He's also a great guy to do business with. He is a Rastaman from Jamaica and has a great vibe about him. He did a wonderful job on my suit and he also fixed my wife's dress. Although we did have to wait longer than expected when we first went for our fittings (he got tied up with a client before us) I understand stuff happens. The final results were worth the wait. So the story begins with me trying to find a tailor to get my suit fixed. I always like my clothes tailored since I have a slim frame. So I decided to consult my Yelp community for some advice and I ended up visiting "I and I" - meaning oneness ( we are all the same) and equality in Rastafari/ Jamaican - ended up asking it to the owner (Mr. Martin). Mr. Martin's tailor shop is behind his house, and as soon as you walk in you will notice the unique decor - with every inch of the wall covered in photos, newspaper sections cut out and framed, and quotes = which looks pretty cool and I could be there all day having a conversation with him about each one. On my first visit a few months back, I came to get my suit fixed and he did an excellent job, but I ended up re-doing it because my sister wanted me to change the length again and he gladly did it for me without extra charges. He also tapered my pants for free - he went above and beyond and my suit was now perfect! On my first visit I did not know what to expect for his work, and I was in a rush so I did not care - but it was above average pricing. To avoid re-dos bring everything with you for the outfit - your shoes, ties, pants, jacket etc! Overall the first time was amazing. This time again was another suit - he quickly took the measurements and we were done in no time - he asked me if I was in a rush to get it altered, which I wasn't so he said in a weeks time. Even this time he was very friendly and accommodated me even though I came there 5 minutes before he was going to close. There has been some changes from my first visit - now he added the word "couture" which he emphasized many times. With this new word addition - he also has a new pricing - now we know upfront what to expect. The prices are a little expensive - for e.g. to shorten the length of a pant - it is $25; sometimes the pants may only cost $30. So you may have to decide if it is worth it or not. For simple and cheap work I suggest other tailors. Now, to Martin the tailor himself - he's one of the coolest guys I have met, amazing customer service, always smiling, joking and has a story to tell every time. I've been searching for a qualified tailor for a long time. A couple of weeks ago I followed a friend's recommendation to a nearby five star tailor. Much to my dismay she had pinned up my sleeves at two different lengths. Then I headed over to Martin at I and I tailoring. What a relief! I was thoroughly impressed by his shop. The items waiting for his expert work included: expensive wedding gowns, evening gowns, upholstery, men's suits, and many other items. Martin knew how to fix my suit and make it look like it had never even been altered. I did not have to ask. I could see that he could create a professional suit from scratch. He had suggestions that would make my suit look like it was sewn just for me. He is also very personable to talk with. I learned about how he has been a tailor for more than 30 years. His last gig in Chicago lasted for 17 years, after which he finally decided to start his own business. I looked through his photo album to see the amazing work that he has accomplished. On the day he had promised, he had my suit ready hours ahead of schedule. The suit looked perfect; as if it had never even been altered. He even refastened the buttons onto the sleeves that had been shortened. I and I prices are reasonable for the high quality of work that you get. I needed a suit and some chinos tailored for a trip and wedding I was heading to in North Carolina and only had a week to get my suit altered to fit. Martin did a wonderful job tailoring my dress. Martin is very professional, enthusiastic, and gives off great energy. He is also very experienced in this field. He works from his beautiful home, in the back. I took my dress 3 weeks in advance and told him I wanted the dress shorten lengthwise and to alter the straps. Within the third week I went for a fit and told him that I would like the straps just a bit more tighten on one side. He did an amazing job length wise, very precise. (Tip: make sure to bring the shoes you are going to wear with your gown for precise fitting). So far the best tailor I have been to in South Florida since I moved here in 2010. I had the most amazing tailor ever back in CA and was so sad to lose him. I have tried several places and the work is just "okay." Being an apple shape, I have the privilege of needing EVERY pair of pants I buy tailored. If the waist fits, the legs really, really don't. I bought a new pair of dress pants and dropped them off mid-week. The entire leg basically needed to be remade, and they were ready Monday. At first I thought the fabric wasn't laying quite right. No problem, he made the adjustment needed very quickly. Simply put, there is no one better! After going down a dress size, my best (and most expensive) suit no longer fit me well. I weighed the pros and cons of attempting to alter it versus buying a new one. The replacement value was cost prohibitive, but I wasn't convinced the tailor I usually use was up for the job. While she's fine (and inexpensive) to use for simple fixes, such as hemming an item, she's fallen short in the past when it came to more complicated alterations, such as tapering a dress. I decided to compromise by getting my suit altered, but by a more capable tailor. I took to Yelp to get a referral and you guys did not disappoint me! Martin had the largest number of reviews and almost a 5-star rating, so I went with him. When I drove up to the address, I was a little hesitant to enter. As some reviews point out, his shop is on the side of his house and is not visible from the street. As a woman, that worried me a little bit, but I recalled that there were a number of female reviewers singing his praises on Yelp. Turns out I had nothing to worry about. Martin came out to greet me and lead me to his shop. The shop is small and cozy and evidence of his craftsmanship hangs everywhere. Martin knows his stuff: First, he pinned my suit in place and based on that alone, I knew it was going to be perfect. He addressed my concerns and also made suggested fixes. From beginning to end, he explained the process and was very thorough. He was also a perfect gentleman and really made me feel comfortable and like I was dealing with a professional. I picked up the finished product a few days ago and I was blown away. My suit is better than new. It fits me like a custom suit. I'll be honest, it was not cheap. I won't tell you exactly how much, but he's on par with Nordstrom's prices (yea, that much).
