Let me step back and say that because of the age of the house the standard and most common roll-up door was not an option to install it into place. Because of this, an old-styled fixed panel door was the lone alternative to allow this situational mount to be amenable. (Let it be known that an antiquated fixed garage door is a bit of a challenge to construct and mount evenly at this day and age.) In his first attempt for the build, both he and I agreed that he was not successful in constructing a well-structured door that I could be personally happy with. Tech shows up, and in the process of fixing the garage door, he ends up breaking the door/door gets broken: note this point -- the *technician* makes the door unusable. He convinces us that the only way is to replace the door (this is on a Friday evening). We have no options and they convince us that they are giving us a "real deal". My family had a custom garage door ordered and installed by Prestige Garage Doors last year. We have been fighting the charge with our credit card and this company for the past year, which is why we are posting this review now. Prestige Garage Doors employee Matt, and another associate, came to install our custom garage door and when I expressed that them that this was not the design that we sent, they proceeded to rip the garage door weather striping molding that already existed on our garage door off and say that they would order and replace it with the wood color that would match the door they installed. Ensuring me, that this would make a difference in the way the garage door looked. When I did not hear back from them for 6 weeks, I began calling Matt to see what was happening with our order. I waited another 3 weeks from not hearing from them to report this charge to my credit card company. Text messages from Matt came in shortly after I filled the charge back from my credit card. Matt was hostile and unapologetic for not replacing the existing molding he ripped off our garage door area. Do yourself a favor, and steer clear of this company. We had to hire another company to order and fix the damage that Matt and his team created for us, and Matt refused to refund us any of the money for the garage door and the damages he caused. read more

I had a broken garage door spring and I called Navid who did quickly come out to measure for me. The price was high, but I had another even higher quote. He did the work, but then the technician said that the opener needed to be replaced as well. Navid quoted me $950 for the new motor. I found another installer who came out and replaced the opener for $540. He found that Navid's springs were undersized and recommended replacing with larger. They made all the difference, as the garage door is now perfectly balanced and so much quieter. I told David about this and told me there was nothing that he could do. He wouldn't take back the springs or refund me any money at all. Beware of Prestige's high prices. read more

Updated: adjusted from 1 star to 3 star for how the owner promptly handled our feedback and called us to explain the technician's view as well as improvements they will take action on. The owner even offered in-person service call next time to ensure we have the best customer experience they strive to provide. I hope my experience is an outlier and can definitely relate to owner's business principles. The good: Owner was responsive to provide a quote late Friday night and sent crew next morning for our garage door repair job. The job was eventually done w/ the original price quoted, although with a super unpleasant experience detailed below. The bad: 1. We only had a broken spring which needs replacement. After the crew came he starting piling on charges on things he said should be replaced, including the drum and rollers. The crew said that the drum was in bad shape and is cutting the cables, but the cable was fine and needs no replacement, which makes no sense to us because 1) the drum looks perfectly fine and 2) if it's damaging the cable why doesn't cable need to be replaced too? The original quote was $425 and the new quote is $850 (after so-called discount), which is also absurd given the cost of parts (less than $50) and the little extra labor required. 2. After we said we don't want the extra repairs, the crew still tried to push us by saying that there's no warranty if we don't pay for the extra repairs. We had to insist that the warranty would be on the spring that's replaced and doesn't include the things he didn't fix. He also offered *free* maintenance to as part of extra quote. The whole thing feels like a ploy of forcing us to accept the extra hefty charges onsite. We had to be super firm in rejecting all the unnecessary cost. 3. After job starts, the crew suddenly began to complain about one of the drum being broken and "stuck" and needs replacement (which costs an extra $199 for taking out then putting back $15 drum). To us, it's because the torsion tub is rusted and needs some lubricant so that the drum can move. However, the crew insisted that the drum is bad and he "cannot do his job" because of it. At this point it just feels like money grabbing to us and we wanted to cancel the job. Then he wanted to charge $300 just for coming here and working for 10mins. After more back-and-forth, we had to agree that he can hammer the drum to move it, if the drum breaks we'll have to pay extra $199. Then you know what, several hammers moved the drum freely. 4. On top of all above, what really infuriated us was the way the crew communicated. Maybe you have a point and we are just ignorant homeowners. But threatening no warranty if we don't pay more, saying "I cannot do my job" if you won't replace the drum and failing to properly explain how different garage parts work and why they need replacement are simply not an honest way of serving your customers. Based on our experience, we advise against doing business w/ them again. read more
