First and foremost let me start by saying this is by far the worst experience at a hair salon I have ever had. Pressed Roots is advertised as a SILK press blowout bar, however, the services they offer are NOT silk presses. It is literally a shampoo, blow dry and flat iron. The services they offer can be done at home.
I went on November 8th for a silk blowout (I have previously had silk blowouts before in another state I lived in so I know all about them and how they should turn out. ) I was super excited and nervous because I had been full blown natural for eight months. After a huge disappointment the first time (the first stylist seemed a bit out of space , wasn't sociable, and forgot to trim my ends. The best part is she stated she didn't know how to feather shorter hair, so after about 8 passes on one piece of hair from her trying to learn from the stylist beside her, I just said it's cool and paid and left because I was running late for a luncheon. ) I didn't do any strenuous activities which would cause me to sweat or anything and was pretty upset that I could literally still smell my hair the next morning, not to mention my hair was nappy at the roots the very next morning. Let's not get on my ends!!!
I checked my email that next day and received a message from them asking for a rating. I gave them a 7 due to the atmosphere of the salon and my shampoo which was the only thing I was satisfied with the day before. I received a call from customer service from a lady named Ashton. She expressed that she would like for me to give them another chance and stated she wanted to make it up to me. This gives the impression that services that I did not receive the first time and paid $65.00 would be rendered at no extra cost plus my trim was added. She took a deposit of $25 and assured me it would be refunded. She stated that to set the appointment she needed this deposit. I spoke with her twice that day. No where in the phone call was I told I would have to repay for a service that was inadequate the first time. She gave me a 9am appointment for today 11/14 with Whitney who was actually a very refreshing person and the total opposite of the stylist I had the first time.
After Whitney had finished I went up to the receptionist to let her know there should be some kind of note left regarding what happened and that I was told the service would be free and I was to get my deposit back. The receptionist went and got another lady who might I add was very unpleasant and quite frankly rude. She seemed upset because I was under the impression it would be a free service. She stated she listened to the phone call but that's pretty impossible being that there were TWO separate phone calls and the time she took to come to the front was quick so there was no way she listened to the entire call.
As I'm standing there I'm telling her that A. I shouldn't have to pay for a service they messed up the first time and B. I don't even have money on the card on file. I notice her clicking the mouse a few times and then she basically told me that since I didn't have the funds on that card to cover it and we weren't getting anywhere to go about my business.
I went to get gas only to see that she tried to charge my card THREE SEPARATE TIMES. Which means as I'm standing there and we have having this dispute about pay ,she is trying to charge my card!!!
I will not be back and I recommend if you are looking for an actual silk press go elsewhere. How can you make something right by someone then turn around and make it worse? I was really baffled and I thank God that he has turned my attitude around because the nastiness of that woman was unsurpassed.
I try and support black owned businesses, however this one is lacking proper etiquette, training, and professionalism, minus Whitney.
I will gladly take my tresses and money elsewhere!i read more
