Had the 4-course meal, and overall it was a great experience with attentive service and stellar early courses! The Highlights: * Sumac Cured Halibut: Absolutely divine. The thinly sliced cucumber and pluot added incredible freshness without disrupting the texture, balanced perfectly with just the right amount of acidity and sumac tartness. Star of the night! * American Wagyu Steak Tartare & Raclette Fondue: Both were fantastic, rich, and well-executed. The Main Course: * Dry-Aged Kurobuta Pork: The only real downside of the meal. Even accounting for pork having more texture, it was surprisingly tough for dry-aged Kurobuta. The accompanying pork cheek confit was melt-in-your-mouth tender, but lacked depth of flavor compared to how vibrant the earlier dishes were. Worth a visit for the starters and great service and very good atmosphere --just wish the main matched the high bar set by the rest of the menu! The patio was beautiful but if you cannot do warm temperature, highly recommend sitting inside since I personally was struggling due to heat.

Probably one of the best experiences I've ever had! (Yes, "experience", not "meal") I had interactions with no less than 11 staff members, and each one was PERFECTION. I chose the Chef's tasting menu, and each course was better than the last. 7-course menu, with 3 additional amuse-bouches - every plate was a study in creativity and attention to detail. Press offers 2 menu options: a Chef's 7-course tasting menu for $195, or a four course meal for $150, the are a few stand alone options, as well as add-ons/ upgrades to your selected menu. There is plenty of parking, indoor and outdoor seating, and private dining rooms are stunning...2 are a part of their 13,000 bottle wine cellar, and one is an airy space with a private patio. Pro-tip: if it is a really hot day, choose to sit in the dining room. While they have fans on the patio, they are not quite enough to move the air and keep you comfortable.

This is one of those dining experiences that created a core dining memory. Our experience was nothing short of outstanding. The restaurant is bright and lively. The ambience was a perfect match to what you'd expect for 'modern wine country.' The server was sweet and attentive. But, the team based approached won us over. The six-course meal with the wine pairing was satisfying. Then, the manager gave us a private tour of the kitchen and wine cellar and we were speechless. We rounded off the night with night caps at the bar. The photos have the descriptions of the dishes.

We were excited to go here after seeing chef Tessier on TV and realizing his resturant was so close. Our server was amazing the resturant was very nice inside, the food had good flavors. My issue is if you dont purchase their overpriced pretzel and caviar or any other additional items then you will leave hungry which has never happened to me with a tasting menu before. They say it is 7 courses but 1 of the courses is simply a palette cleanser We may try them again for in the future but we will not be doing their "7" course menu again. It was not worth the price tag.

While the restaurant setting was beautiful and the service was fine, my husband and I found the food underwhelming for a Michelin-starred restaurant. We opted for the four-course prix fixe menu, and many of the dishes felt more focused on technique than flavor. Throughout the meal, several flavor combinations didn't work and many dishes leaned either salty, one-note, or bland. APPETIZERS Chips and dip: This consisted of salmon skin paired with what seems to be their attempt at elevated guacamole. The salmon skin could have benefited from some seasoning, while the guacamole was too citrus-forward that it overwhelmed the avocado. We were also served an asparagus welcome drink that tasted like asparagus water with light cream which did not taste good. Sumac-cured halibut: The very tart vinaigrette overpowered everything in this dish. American wagyu tartare: Overall okay. Lacked a kick that would have made it memorable. Lobster chawanmushi: Chawanmushi was silky and the lobster was perfectly cooked. I really enjoyed the green curry foam, although it leaned salty. The pickles were also quite sour. Caramelle with truffles: Delicate corn flavor, but the dish felt bland overall and the truffle was barely noticeable. ENTREES Black truffle-glazed chicken: Impressive technique with sausage stuffed beneath the skin and tender chicken. Unfortunately, the sausage was overly salty and tart, which overpowered the chicken and any truffle flavor. This was supposed to be some kind of award-winning dish, but it didn't live up to its reputation. King salmon: The biggest disappointment of the meal. We were told king salmon is fattier than a salmon like sockeye, but the cuts were lean. We were also told it would be served mostly raw with a sear. It came to us with very little sear and no seasoning we could appreciate. It also came with a cucumber-based sauce which added little flavor. Overall, this was a bland and uninspired dish. It might as well have been served like sashimi for a more enjoyable experience. DESSERTS Smoked yogurt panna cotta: Refreshing but lacked any noticeable smokiness. Vanilla and champagne parfait: Overpowered by the alcohol. At the end of the meal, they gave us calamansi jelly and bonbons. The jelly was so sour it was nearly mouth-puckering. The bonbon was fine. To the restaurant's credit, the pacing of dish service was good and courses arrived in a timely manner without a huge gap in between them. Michelin-starred restaurants can be a hit or miss and, unfortunately, PRESS falls into the latter category for us.

Press has been on my radar for a while now. I visited it when it was a steakhouse and loved it. But distance played a part in me not coming back. Once I read that Philip Tessier took over I was intrigued. Tessier has the distinct honor of winning one of the most prestigious fine dining team competitions in the world. And he delivered in SPADES! Our experince was amazing. The dining area is an exercise in warmth and style without pretense. It is a place you would perfectly at home in a sport coat or jeans with polo. The dining room has lots neutra browns, tans and white. Class with comfort in mind. Press also has some outdoor seating which would be great on a warm Napa day or night. The food is amazing! Everything I sampled was very good to excellent. My favorites: - Cold Gazpacho Soup with Rice Foam: This amuse-bouche was simply amusing! The rice foam really provided a nice lingering finish. - Steak Tartare with Garbanzo Bean Tapenade: By far my favorite dish! The texture of the waygu tartare was wonderful. It reminded me of firm fresh tuna for some reason. Combined with the salted soft toasted bread. I could of eaten it as my main. -Fogile de fava: This was a close second for me. The fogile was cooked to al dente perfection. And EVERYTHING tastes better with black truffle butter! - Ribeye: Perfect medium rare! The sugar snap peas were garden fresh and provide nice texture and sweet balance. -Drinks: I had the Pinot and my girl had the Chardonnay. Both were excellent! The sommelier took great care in choosing his wines by the glass because each paired nicely with corresponding dishes on the menu. Well done! Service was impeccable. The greeter was friendly and seated us right away. Our waiter was good with suggestions and descriptions of food/beverages. Each dish was presented with corresponding descriptions. Water glasses never empty. Pacing was just right. All things you expect from a Michelin restaurant. Bravo Press!!! I hope you get your **.

Loved Press. Exquisite service, warm but high-end dining room, and impeccable food. The precision of each dish was spectacular. Fantastic wine list. We had so much fun. Butternut squash soup with cardamom - Palate cleanser. Lovely start. Turnips with poached apple, garden sorrel, turnip veloute - Never had turnips this was way, inspired! Scallop Crudo - Delicate and balanced. Ricotta Gnudi with Meyer lemon, spring herb broth - I was so sad when I finished this, bring me at least 3 more. Wagyu tartare with sunchoke chili crisp, farm lettuces - Loved the bitterness of the lettuces with the tartare. Eye of ribeye, morel mushrooms, charred sugar snap peas - Just amazing. Monkfish, daikon, fennel - I was surprised at the selection of monkfish which can very challenging to cook. But they did it, and it was great. Milk chocolate mousse with peanut ice cream, caramel banana jam - Combination was to die for. Vanilla & Champagne parfait, pear compote, candied winter citrus - Nothing was out of place, delicious. Petit fours and coffee - Usually an afterthought but here they do not cut corners. Coffee was done right as well.

Press was an incredible, out of body experience. Star of the show was the pork chop - crispy, fatty, and juicy all at once. I also really enjoyed the appetizers. Chinese inspired wings, pretzels and salmon skin chips - really unique and innovative twists on classics. Vibes were really great as well. Service was attentive and fast. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting and open to splurging on a nice meal.

We celebrated a birthday on the patio at Press in St. Helena and it was perfect. The setting is beautiful, the service was warm and attentive, and they even surprised us with a lovely birthday treat at the end. The 4-course prix fixe was excellent. The pretzel with cultured yogurt butter was a standout, simple but delicious. Every course was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared with great ingredients. We were also bringing our 1-month-old, who stayed in his stroller the whole time. The staff was very accommodating and helped us find a good spot so we could enjoy the meal without being a bother to anyone. That meant a lot. Overall, it was a relaxing and memorable evening.

Had a magical time celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary and baby moon at PRESS! They greeted us with a card signed by all staff, which was a sweet surprise. I was also really surprised by their playlist selection, and thought it gave a good vibe to the restaurant. Our server was a very kind gentleman (I wish I remembered his name!) who made the experience very comfortable for us. This is the best pre fixe menu we've had, and we value our culinary experiences. It was also so special that they brought out a few extra desserts for us to really celebrate our anniversary. We will be back!!!

If you're looking for expensive High end dining with very good service, this is the place. We tried the 4 course prix fixe menu which was enough food for us. The place got pretty crowded as the evening wore on. Most of the dishes we had were very good. I wasn't thrilled with my fish. It had a fishy odor and was a tad salty. They have a new bakery that opened on the other side of the building. We will have to return one day to try it.

Our group had a lovely experience at PRESS (- 4.5-star experience). The restaurant feels modern and welcoming without being overly formal. The kitchen was spotless and well-organized, and the ambience was relaxed and comfortable, with R&B and '90s music setting a chill mood. Because we were a group of eight, we booked a private room and selected the menu in advance. I truly enjoyed most of the dishes, especially the squash and halibut dishes - flavorful yet light and elegant. PRESS really elevates its food through intentional ingredients and a thoughtful balance of flavors. The service was professional and attentive. One small detail really stood out: my husband cuts with his left hand, and a staff member noticed and adjusted the placement of his utensils without being asked. We were genuinely impressed. Portions were very reasonable - we left satisfied but not overly full. I'd happily bring my family back to.

I will start with that I am an avid review reader, but I never have experiences so terrible that I feel like I need to share. My husband and I chose Press to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. We opted for the 7-course tasting menu with wine pairing, which came to approximately $400 per person before tax and tip. At that price point, we expected an exceptional meal. Instead, much of the food was genuinely inedible and, frankly, disgusting. The experience became so bad that I had to excuse myself from the table twice to throw up. After the fifth course (rubber chicken with the smell of bologna), we simply couldn't continue and ended the meal early. Both my husband and I were sick for the rest of the night with what appeared to be food poisoning. Happy anniversary to us. I truly cannot understand how this restaurant holds a Michelin star. For the price and reputation, the food was an enormous disappointment, and there was not a single course that I would consider worthy of a star. The one positive was the staff. They were incredibly attentive, professional, and gracious throughout the evening. Unfortunately, excellent service cannot make up for food that we found completely unacceptable. We came to Press to celebrate our anniversary and left feeling sick, disappointed, and out nearly $800 before tax and tip. Absolutely not an experience I would recommend.

I've been coming to Farmstead over the years and it was one of my favorite recommendations for those visiting St. Helena. I've sent friends, family and out-of-town visitors here, often raving about how good it was. So when I took my immediate family to Farmstead a few weeks ago, I made a reservation, drove over 40+ minutes from the southern part of Napa Valley and genuinely looked forward to returning. Making reservation online was easy, parking is available (although it can feel like a competitive sport once everyone decides to arrive at the same time), the covered outdoor seating remains lovely, the barn transformed to a dining room with its high ceilings is still a beautiful space and the bathrooms were clean. Unfortunately, the food was simply didn't live up to what I remembered. We started with the cheddar biscuits with honey butter. I expected warm, tender biscuits. Instead each of the biscuits were surprisingly, almost as if they've been left in the oven a few minutes too long. The honey butter tried its best to salvage the situation, but was unsuccessful. We also ordered the fried eggplant which skipped right past golden brown and headed directly into "left in the fryer during a staff meeting" territory. For entrees, two of us ordered the steak frites. The cut of the day was a flank steak and we both ordered medium rare. Mine arrive firmly in the medium-well territory. It's disappointing when your steak lands two doneness levels above what you requested. A friend ordered the grass-fed cheeseburger medium. It also came out well beyond that point, dry and crumbly rather than juicy. He was expecting a burger. What showed up as something closer to a semi-palatable hockey puck. The wood-grilled heritage pork chop was probably the strongest dish at the table. At $52, however, we were expecting something memorable. It was fine. Perfectly acceptable. But "perfectly acceptable" isn't exactly the reaction you're hoping for at that price point. Dessert was a small bowl of stracciatella gelato. That's it. No wafer, no cookie, waffle cone shard, no sprig of mint or garnishment to make it feel finished. I can see wanting to accommodate dietary restriction like those who are gluten-free, but it would have been nice to have an optional accompaniment. We kept the drinks simple. Service was fine. Total bill came out to be about $330 for lunch with tip. What stood out wasn't the cost, but the lack of excitement or something being memorable. You're dining at a popular restaurant in Napa Valley, you're going to be paying a premium. At our table, nobody was particularly excited about the meal they had or interested in taking home any leftovers. Maybe it was an off day. Maybe nostalgia elevated my memories beyond reality. Whatever the reason, this experience felt very different from the Farmstead I've enthusiastically recommended over the years. The restaurant was very busy with a steady stream of people coming through the entire time while we were there, so clearly plenty of diners continue to enjoy it. But based on this visit, I don't see myself recommending it the way I once did. I'm just one customer. Still, this was a disappointing return to what had long been one of my favorites in St. Helena.

I asked "Where can I get a good burger" at multiple wineries and everyone pointed me here. Now I know why! As we walked in, (we were lucky as we did not have reservations for lunch but came early) the atmosphere, venue, electricity in the air was amazing. They also have a lovely outside seating area, which seems to the hot spot. It was exactly how all the people described it and the overall atmosphere was amazing with that giant open flaming cooking area at the end and in the middle. I had the perfect seat to watch it and the amazing Chef Marshall preparing food. A lovely young lady ( am am embarrassed that I did not write down names) came by and got us started with menus, silverware and a drink order. Then our amazing waiter (same thing on the name) came over to explain more. Both my wife and I already knew that we were having the burger. (Pretty rare and special for her to have a burger.) Not much to say other than they were AMAZING! Two patties (rather large) on a bun with special sauce and cheese. These weren't just good, they were really, really good. Cooked perfectly (medium) and served with the most amazing hand cut fries. This place definately set a new bar... and it's really high! Through the whole meal, I got to watch Chef Marshall at the grill. Lunch and a show, how perfect was this day? My wife and I are looking forward to coming back soon, and we will... this time for dinner [and we will have reservation.] KUDOs to the team at The Charter Oak Restaurant

I ordered a whole roasted chicken w/ roasted broccolini…read more We were celebrating our anniversary wine tasting throughout napa valley. We decided to share an entree of whole roasted chicken together with some broccolini for clean eating and to still have room for more wine later. Staff were generous with a complimentary cookie for our celebration. Whole roasted chicken 4.5/5 It definitely fed the both of us and we still had to take a little bit of the leftovers home. Chicken was super juicy, tender and nicely seasoned. The arugula was sort of a little acidic to our liking. Potatoes were a nice treat. Broccolini 4.5/5 Nicely roasted and the butter sauce was super tasty. Cookie 4.5/5 Wow. I mean it's simple but probably one of the best cookies I had in a long time. Wished there was a scoop of ice cream hehe but can't complain when it's free Ambience 5/5 It's a very beautiful restaurant and definitely a spot to take many photos. Bathrooms are very nice, clean and tidy. Staff 5/5 Very friendly and check in very often but not invading. Definitely coming back!
