I absolutely LOVE Preppy Pet! The owners Yolanda and Tony are there every day and are passionate about what they do; they truly care for your pets well being. I have been brining my dog and cat (cat off and on when I go out of town) for over two years now. I can recall a time when my dog who is currently 11 was having tummy issues, turns out he has pancreatitis. Had an accident while at day care (he goes daily while I work) he had rice earlier that morning which made it look like worms. Tony called every number listed trying to get ahold of me and even called my mother who is also a client to track me down. He was so worried about my little guy he was getting ready to take him to the vet. Luckily I told Tony it was just rice so to keep an eye on him they had my little guy stay up front with them (with my permission of course). This morning was cold, rare for Florida causing my little guys arthritis to bother him, so they carried him back and kept a watchful eye on him and said if he was having problems, they would put him in a separate area so it didn't get aggravated further. Luckily, he was fine and played with all his friends. Every morning my dog gets so excited to go today care he does a "Happy Howl" as soon as we pull into the parking lot. When he sees Tony and Yolanda getting out of their car, he does another "Happy Howl" he absolutely loves them and going to Preppy Pet. I cannot recommend them enough. My dog loves going to doggie day-camp. The people there are super nice and I know my dog is well cared for.

Do not take your senior pet to this place! Our Labrador endured a puncture wound while he was boarded and Preppy Pet blamed it on him sleeping on the ground instead of his bedding. Despite his age and health issues they made us feel that they can properly care for our dog. They called us every day for the first three days we were gone. Day1 was because their recommended kennel was too small Day 2 our lab kept barking Day 3 there is a open wound from our dog laying on the ground. It was evident that Preppy Pet was NOT capable of taking care of our Labrador. They also charged us for each pill that was given to our dog. There was no where on their website that they would charge for medication administration or were we notified that they would be charging for this service. So dog owners PREPPY PET charges $1.50 per pill. How ridiculous is that? What was supposed to be a $350 stay turned to be $600. Well, the next day we took our Labrador to our vet. They had to sedate our family dog of 14 years, give him IV antibiotics, suture, and debride his wound. Our vet commented that it was highly unlikely that this wound was from laying on the ground. The dog was either bit or punctured by some thing. I will NOT EVER recommend this place to others. read more

My dog isn't a fan of being away from me but this location has what she needs and seems to do well with her.

I advise not taking your animals to Preppy Pet. This was our first time boarding him and our puppy was either not being watched by their staff while playing or they allow aggressive dogs at their facility. We won't really know which it is considering the owners changed their story of what happened 3x in the last 24 hours. Our dog was viciously attacked by another dog with surgery in his mouth, 2 puncture wounds near his eye, pulled baby teeth.....Yes, Preppy Pet is taking care of all the vet bills but we are very upset we do not have a straight answer of how this happened. We are happy our Gotti is recovering and was in good hands and hope his pain is minimal until fully healed. ***UPDATE**** 6 DAYS post op visit on 10/3/19 at Aloha. Visit went well, but Gotti tore one of his stitches in his mouth. He is ok, but here is the REAL issue. Preppy pet owners PROMISED they would be paying for ALL post op visits, medication, ANYTHING my Gotti would need. He even insisted on doing anything the vet recommends. Well, he lied yet again just like his description of the incident changing 3x! Upon check out at Aloha, the tech called them to collect payment for recheck and new cone for Gotti. He will also need to have another appt. For stitches taken out in 2 weeks. The owner REFUSED to pay for services and stated that he thought he only had to pay for initial visit and surgery. He argued with the tech to where the vet, Dr. Cortes decided not to argue with him and said not to charge me. However I think this is AWFUL because Aloha deserves to get paid for services rendered and the owners PROMISED and even threw around how much INTEGRITY they have.... this is BS! I want this story shared to as many as possible and I will be pursuing additional litigation as well due to their dishonesty and now trying to screw over the awesome Aloha hospital. BEWARE! On my second boarding visit I check out and notice the cost was extremely high, after I checked out I asked for a itemized . No one informed me that my dog supposedly snapped at other dogs and could not be taken out as a group. Not only did she NOT have the issue the first time, she goes to the dog park all the time. No one called to inform me that I would be charged $10 a day extra because of this. They just went ahead and did it. My dog is around other dogs all the time and goes to other boarding institutes and this is the first time EVER that this issue. If someone would of called me I would of gone and got her sooner. If they are adding in charges like this what did they do to my pet! When I asked why I was not told she said "yes they should of called" but they did NOT offer to do anything about it. On top of that, I told them my dog does not like men and the girl said to me that the man tried to go to her. Why are you causing my dog more stress? I will not be going back and you should go! I am new to the area and needed to board my pit mix Jack for the Thanksgiving holiday. I called Preppy Pet and spoke to Tony. He took the time to clearly answer all of my questions and even recommended a vet near my home. Upon bringing Jack to the facility I was very pleased with the thoroughness of checking in my dog. The process was very well explained and organized during a very busy day. I was concerned how Jack was going to be since he's getting used to a new home and now a new boarding/day care facility. He's not so great with all dogs and can be territorial in our home and on the leash so I worry about his behavior. Tony was great with him and I was very happy to hear that he did really well in their care. He had a bath and nails cut as well and I was very pleased with the grooming. We will be returning to Preppy Pet soon! read more

I have to say that reading the previous reviews inclined me to leave one. My rambunctious puppy (1 year old) goes here at least once or twice a week for a day of play. He knows that when we reach for his leash in the morning that he is going to daycare at Preppy Pets. He bolts from the house to the car, and then from the car to daycare. He LOVES this place. When he comes home he is utterly exhausted - he often falls asleep in the car within 5 minutes of being picked up. He's super thirsty when he gets home, but I know from talking with the staff and watching the Pet-Cam that it's because he is too busy running around with the other dogs to stop at the water bowl. There's nothing better than bringing home a tired puppy, and he's more than happy to play with his buddies all day. The staff is amazing, they really make sure the pets are having a good time. While we haven't had the need yet for an overnight stay, I've had multiple family members leave their pets here. Tony even noticed my sister's dog had a serious paw injury (it was an old injury that had gone unnoticed by us) and offered to take the dog to the vet himself. Without his prompt attention to detail and excellent communication with my sister, the dog could have potentially lost her paw. That kind of service is truly priceless! read more

i encountered an emergency and needed my Dog boarded for one day, staff was good about scheduling and confirming a reservation. I had to leave Florida so I had a family member drop him off, who called me afterwards to tell me that the staff was rather rude and had different information than I was provided with over the phone about play time, exercise, etc. The following morning when the dog was picked up the bill had charges that were not previously disclosed (intact male fee). the total amount was a bit more for just one day than quoted. This led to more rudeness from the staff who got angry when asked to explain the break down off fees. At the end of the transaction the employee then harassed my mother for not adding a tip to the already over priced bill. If they treat people this way I cant imagine how they are with animals. This is the first facility I've been to that does not allow any tour of The facility or even let you see where the Dogs sleep. there are so much better, cleaner and friendlier places in the Melbourne area. 10/10 would NOT recommend read more

I bring my dog here for daycare nearly everyday and he loves it. Every morning he's running around, all excited, and then waits by the door to go. The staff is friendly and accommodating and you can tell they really care about the pets. They'll even board birds and fish. My dog is 16 years old and needs constant care, due to incontinence and dementia, and Preppy Pets has been a lifesaver. He is no longer confined to a crate all day while I'm at work. My dog had a two day stayover and it generally seemed to go well, however a week later she came down with kennel cough and a vet bill.

We have trusted preppy pet with our cockapoo her whole life! We moved out of state for 6 years and never got the same service and care as preppy pet until now that we are back! Her paws are kept tidy, her ears are cleaned and trimmed which makes it easier to clean them in between visits, her belly is nice and short, and she just overall smells better and looks happier and cleaner! Questionable practice. I always wondered why when we left our pets there the cameras did not work. Our normal place was booked so we booked them as a last resort. And that is the only time resort will be used to reference Poopy Pets. They called the day of our booking to say that the last time our dogs were aggressive. I guess if you consider aggressive licking as aggressive then ok yeah they may be aggressive. Our dogs love attention and love being boarded. Luckily our normal place made some last minute moves to allow for Zeus to visit. Please consider other options when taking your family member to a local boarding facility. read more

2nd time leaving our babies entrusted to Preppy Pets. We watched the cams to see our babies playing, (need to fix the little dog cam so they can be seen at top of screen.) love the cams! Yes, they were thirsty when they got home but dogs are stressed out of their normal environment, this is totally expected! We had them bathed, nails clipped and they were ready to go at the time we got there. They Will be "vacationing" at PP again in January while we go away, plan on boarding them here again. read more

If I could put a negative star rating I would. We used l Preppy pets a few times with our 2 Akitas . It's been an ok experience, we only used them when we can't get into dog spot hotel due to waiting lists. We booked a stay about a month ago for this weekend, New Years, only because dog spot hotel did not have any openings we were on the waiting list for dog spot hotel so obviously we were hoping we would get in there. Friday morning my husband called to see if he needed to bring updated shot records they said they needed one of his shot records, no problem we faxed it right over. They call us and tell us they can not take our dog due to he showed aggression towards people and they were to booked to take our dog. Last time We boarded our dogs there we were not told of any issues with them. We have NEVER had a problem with our dogs. In fact our dogs have been to dog spot hotel over 5 time this year and just for 9 days over thanksgiving. They LOVE our dogs and have nothing bad to say about either of them. In fact I still have the receipt from last stay at preppy pets showing that they were both groomed... or at least we were charged for grooming. Who would groom an aggressive dog that they fear for their safety? A dog with a no touch order? When I called to ask why we were not told about the issues the owner was extremely rude and hung up on me. I'm scared to think of what these people must do to dogs when their owners are not around..and after doing some research what other owners are saying about preppy pets.. Do not use these people!! I'm so happy this happened we called Dog Spot Hotel and they made arrangements so we could get our dog in there!!! The staff is friendly but my dog came home and drank WAY too much water. I like the cameras but I noticed my dog getting picked on by another dog. Example my dog was clearly scare and trying to get away but the other dog kept coming at him very hard and trying to jump him. There was no employee to get the other dog to stop and from my understanding they were always supervised. read more

We decided to board our two puppies while we went on a small vacation. Preppy Pet Suites had the best prices, and looked like a nice facility. We were sorely mistaken. The staff was rude, especially the man working the front desk. They were impersonal and almost rude to the dogs. They scoffed at people bringing in toys for their dogs. Our dogs came back malnourished, and were not fed all of the allotted bags of food that I had divided for them. I specifically asked them to feed them 3 times a day, and had exactly enough bags of food for the 4 days they were boarded. They handed me back 5 bags of food when I picked them up. One dog came back with bites all over her body from some kind of insect, and both dogs were SEVERELY dehydrated. My other dog has an abscess on her back that was most likely bruising from roughness, meaning they weren't being watched at all. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT BOARD YOUR PETS HERE. read more

My dog Milo loves this place! When I turn on the road to take him, he starts wagging his tail. One of the handlers he really looks forward to seeing. When we arrive she calls his name and gives her kisses. Our 4 legged baby goes almost everyday , he is high energy and comes home very thirsty and tired. Completely disagree with the sour posts on this site. i have two beagles that are a year old and have been going to preppy pet for the paast 6 to 9 months. this place is their second home and they love it and cant wait to get there. The owner, Tony, loves dogs and my dogs love him and the entire staff. My dogs have never been healthier and Tony freely shares his vast knowledge and is quite personable and friendly. When we board them, they are always returned healthy and happy. We take them to day care 2 - 3 days a week and they cannot wait to get there, cannot speak for the others but i can say i wouldn't take my pups anywhere else. read more

It was unfortunate that our almost 15 year old dog had to go into borading, but we had no alternative arrangements. It was our first ever experience and his too. We were told the fee would be $20.95 per day and we also arranged for a bath and toe nails cut for an additional $16 and change. 11 days later we return and were told our bill was $324.00. According to my calculations 11 days at $20.95 does not equal $324.00. I was then told that it was an additional $8.95 per day for "Play time".. I said it would be nice if this additional fee would have been disclosed when we left our dog. We were told it was in the papers we signed. So it is a good example why one should read the small print. What a poor way to conduct business. How about a sign in the lobby listing the cost of boarding and additional fees? Had a really rough red eye flight, discovered car battery (Prius) was dead at Wally park (they did nothing to help) .AAA saved the day. I called Preppy Pet and explained I was coming in to pick up my dogs but had to leave engine on to recharge my battery. They said "no problem" and ya know what , there was no problem. The folks at preppy pet were kind enough to complete my transaction outside so I could keep my car running and the battery recharging while they brought my two huge exuberant dogs outside to me. I was exhausted and not functioning at my best and they were so gracious and kind and understanding. I highly rscommmed Preppy Pet for that kind of customer service. read more

My husband and I went away for a long weekend and after searching for a boarding facility for our babies we settled on one. We took them to Preppy Pet in Melbourne, Florida on Dow Road. It was the worst experience I have ever encountered. I feel like I let my pups down. I'm not sure what happened to them but when we picked them up, their heads and tails were dragging the ground and moving slow, not excited to see us or excited to be home. They are just over a year old and are very energetic girls. We had to help them in and out of the car. They came home and laid for the entire day and night and by morning, they had perked up some and are back to normal now. They drank nearly 4 bowls of water each when they came into the house. They have been boarded and spent time at daycare many times before. I know how they should act when they are picked up from daycare or boarding. We had to pay extra for playtime which I'm sure they did not receive and was charged for baths that they did not receive. They were just sprayed with some dog perfume as they went out the door. My dogs were mistreated, what was done to them I have no idea. I just ask that you do your homework and think twice before you leave your precious family member at this place. read more

I gotta say, reading some of these reviews makes me so sad! Tony and Yoli had taken my Gia as part of their family when I was really in a pinch. I would bring her there everyday for play while I went to work and they literally took care of her like one of theirs. I had her boarding a few times and NEVER had to worry. I still go back to buy her dog food there and Tony and Yoli always ask how Gia is doing. By name. I don't know about you but that tells me volumes. I am severely disappointed with the business practices of Preppy Pets. Please read the fine print when signing anything with this shady business owner. I paid 36 dollars a day to board my two dogs which was fair. The price was highlighted on the bill. However, underneath the bill in very small print and unhighlighted is a charge for time outside the crate. 8 dollars a day per dog. It is my fault for not fine combing the small print to find this outrageous additional price. The owner argued with me that this was told to me on the phone and in person. It was not on either occasion. Typically letting the dog out of the pen for a bit is included in every kennel that I have ever used. The price with the play time is more than my pet sitter which comes to my house and spends more one on one time with the dogs. I just spent 280 bucks for a Friday afternoon drop off and Tuesday am pickup since they were "closed on Monday of Memorial day" so you get dinged an extra day no matter what. Also do not use the grooming services. It is 25 bucks for a basic wash per dog. Both of my dogs were bathed the morning of my pickup and neither had been combed in the slightest. I just got handfuls of hair off the dogs only an hour after the bath. This is not normal after a typical grooming. I would not recommend this business to any dog owners. Save your dog the stress and hassle and get an in home pet sitter for less money. read more
