She addresses my concerns with patience and makes me feel at ease, which is invaluable in a dental setting. Recent Experience I "visit" Dr. Chen at least 3-4x a year. My most recent procedure involved replacing my four front crowns (20 years old) which I had been wanting to do for years. The trauma from the pain associated with the anesthesia from the original dentist had left me hesitant. However, I finally decided to go through with it in May 2025. On the day of the procedure, I was understandably nervous and anxious. But with sweet Luca, their therapy dog, on my lap, I felt a sense of comfort. Carol, Dr. Chen's assistant, held my hand throughout the process, and to my surprise, it was over before I knew it! I felt zero pain--not even a prick. A few visits later, after a trip to the lab, I received my new crowns, and they are absolutely beautiful. I can't believe I waited so long to make this change, and I've received countless compliments on them. Dr. Chen and Carol even showed up on a Friday when they were not in the office to ensure I get my permanent crowns before I left for my trip. Exceptional Staff The entire staff at Dr. Chen's office, including Monica, Diane, Maliah (my dental hygienist), and Monee, are wonderful additions to her team. They are not only professional but also incredibly pleasant, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Every time I walk in, I do so with full confidence that I will be well taken care of. Despite that, they insisted on taking new X-rays. I later found out they were not covered by my insurance because they had been done too recently. To make matters worse, I was led to believe I was making a copay payment. It wasn't until I asked for a receipt that I discovered I had actually been charged for the X-rays. Had I known that was what I was paying for, I would have questioned it immediately. The office acknowledged that this was their mistake and assured me the charge would be refunded. Nearly two months later, I still have not received my refund. I've called about once a week to follow up, and every conversation has been disappointing. Diane either seems confused about why I'm calling or has the details of my case wrong. Most recently, she told me that my insurance company would be sending me a check instead of the office issuing a refund--which makes no sense since the charge resulted from the office's own error, not my insurance company's. It's incredibly frustrating to have an office admit they made a mistake but then delay resolving it for months while repeatedly acting as though they don't understand the situation. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this office.

I'm so glad I ended up hunting down Dr. Iero. I wasn't referred to him by my regular dentist…read morebecause my regular dentist wanted to do the extraction but I wasn't comfortable with that so I started looking for an oral surgeon specifically. I was diagnosed with a cracked tooth which caused an infection and extraction of the tooth was going to be the best option. During my consult the office did a really cool scan/xray thing and actually ended up being diagnosed without anyone ever even looking in my mouth which I thought was super cool. The office is also nice and clean which got huge bonus points from me since I can be really sensitive to smells. The extraction took like 20 minutes total and I'm not going to say it was a walk in the park because- someone ripped my tooth out of my face but it actually was painless. Even the shots were so magically well done. One of the nurses/assistants (IDK what they are) told me at the start that she was going to put numbing agent where he would do the shots and just never came back so he did the shots without them and I literally couldn't feel them. I had just had a filling the week before and it felt like the dentist was shooting acid in my face so for Dr. Iero to be able to give me a shot IN THE ROOF OF MY MOUTH without any real discomfort was pretty impressive to me. He also walked me through what he was doing and explained what might happen. When my cap broke off I didn't panic because the doc had given me a heads up. And at the end they gave me a care package of things that I didn't even think to need. If I can give any advice to anyone seeing Dr. Iero though it would be- absolutely do not be late. On the day of the procedure Houston got some heavy rain and drivers were freaking out as they do so while I allowed myself 20 minutes of travel time for the 10 minute drive, I ended up being late and the doc was SUPER obvious about his annoyance. He wasn't angry as much as like disappointed parent mode and he mentioned it not once but twice. I also hate people who are late and I hate being late so I totally understood the annoyance but just allow yourself the extra time. I would still recommend him 10 out of 10 times because of how well he did. If you're that skilled you can be particular- those are the rules lol all in all this was a very positive experience given that i lost a tooth. I'll see him again in a few months for the rest of the process and if (god forbid) I have to get another extraction I will 100% come back to Bellaire facial, oral, and dental implant surgery.

They declared I needed a $3k "deep-clean", discounted to $1500 b/c of my insurance, of which I would pay $1000 out of pocket. When I pushed-back and asked for just a standard cleaning, the dentist said if I did not get the deep-clean, they could be found negligent in care. So I acquiesced and paid $1000 out-of-pocket for the deep-clean. 30 minutes in the chair, I experienced the same cleaning my retired dentist performed as standard cleaning (prior dentist never billed beyond what insurance covered). I cannot recommend Meyerland Modern Dentistry, nor their parent company Smile Generation.
