If you are a couple with a child, I would look elsewhere. If you are two tall people, I would look elsewhere. There was a lot of tripping over each other and our suitcases. Most importantly, there is no kettle in room. Depending where you are-- you may have to travel OUTSIDE to get to their "pantry." Which is the old's smallest room with cups, tea and coffee, and a kettle. It was indeed cute, but shit. I hated having to travel distances to get a cuppa. I think you have to pay for additional room service? When checking in we were offered one day of free room service. Very odd experience. No issues with the house keeping though. There is a safe in the rooms under the bed. And per usual not enough storage for clothes. The shower pressure and temp is very good. They don't give you the usual accessories like a shower cap or mini toothpaste. Just soap that smelt awful lol. The rooms do get quite hot but you can open a window. This hotel is a refurbished old school Paddington hotel just tarted up poorly. I would only recommend it to solo travellers that are afraid of anything new and are staying three days max.

I'm Hyatt globalist and there were lemon cookies in my room. The breakfast is good. They have a buffet, plus you can order a hot item from the menu. One of the days my room wasn't cleaned, so I called down to the front desk and they said "was your do not disturb on?" That question annoys me so much. No it wasn't and I just want my room cleaned. They add a discretionary 5% service charge to the room rate, which you can ask to remove at checkout. I've never seen that before and didn't like it. I'm fine tipping as you go for service in the hotel, but 5% of the room rate is high. I had lunch in The Parlour and it's a cute restaurant and the food was good. My experience at The 40 Elephants was not as good. I was served right away and liked the bar snacks they brought out. But after I got my drink, there was zero service at my table. When I was seated, I asked if they serve food and they said yes, but then nothing. They were waiting on the tables around me, so I don't know what the problem was, but I never ordered food and just left after the one drink. I actually had a hotel credit to use and I didn't even spend it because that's how I was going to use it. That was the only true negative service that I had at the hotel. There was an automatic 5% gratuity on the bill and that was not deserved.

It's also a 10-minute walk to the Victoria & Albert Museum and about a 15 minute walk to Kensington Gardens (a lovely public park). Lots of pluses. 1. First, it's a historic, elegant Victorian hotel built in the 1870s and restored in the 1990s. The nicest part of the hotel is the grand interior staircase. One plus is that an elevator (lift) is available if you're staying on the upper floors. 2. The rooms are clean and tastefully decorated with a small desk. However, the classic double room is quite small. I stayed in Room 137 (overlooking the tube station) and it felt like a studio apartment in New York City). If you don't mind cozy spaces, this is a good option for a short stay. 3. You have a simple temperature control gauge in your room next to the front door. If it's a hot summer day, be sure to turn up the A/C. In London, I noticed folks tend not to use A/C as much as in the United States. There were a few minuses as well. Given the small-sized interior rooms and bathroom (well-designed but tiny), I don't think it's great for families (with kids) or large groups. Also, at check-in, the hotel staff could be clear about the 50 pound deposit for incidentals, and explain that you need to put your key in the slot near your hotel room door to activate all the lights.

On the downside, the air-conditioning in my room had little effect and since it was south facing, the room was uncomfortably warm. The toilet struggled to flush and the shower pressure is definitely low by American standards, and frankly low by modern UK hotel standards, but just about adequate. Convenient to the hotel is a Tesco express supermarket located just across the street. Unfortunately, the rooms do not have fridges, which would've been very useful as I really needed a cold drink to compensate for the lack of air-conditioning! That said, I was able to stay for £91 including breakfast, which is definitely fair value for what I received. But if they are asking more premium rates, I would suggest looking at the more modern Hilton properties nearby.

During our stay, they didn't stock bar soap for the body, only facial soap. I took it as the owners being cheap and just ordering one kind of soap for their guests. They'll give you ONE cookie upon check in. (Hello, there are two of us?) I guess I'm just used to Doubletrees in California where they'll give you two every time you ask! Okay, that's fine. We don't need to eat too many cookies anyways. :P Rooms are small but that's probably a European thing. Us Americans can be spoiled with big rooms in the US. My husband's Hilton Honors status got us free breakfast in the mornings. Breakfast was good but the dining area and the lack of bussing tables was appalling. Of the 2-3 days we had breakfast, there was always about 10 tables filled with dirty dishes. The three employees we saw working just didn't seem to care. I think part of the problem is they try to clear a table and carry as many dishes as they can with their two hands. Don't they have some kind of plastic container or cart to help them clear tables like we see in other establishments? The lack of bussing tables in this dining room was totally unprofessional. The location of the hotel is pretty good. Close to the Heathrow Airport. There's a bus stop a few steps outside that will take you to the Underground (subway) system to get on the Picadilly line. There's a Domino's and a Kebab restaurant nearby. Our favorite was the Tesco Express supermarket across the street. Such a cute grocery store to stock up. Great prices too. Meh. Maybe under different management this place would be better.

The room itself was perfectly sized and had such a cool aesthetic--very '60s mod meets the new millennium. The location was also the best we've experienced in London. We stayed at two other hotels during our previous trip, and having St Pancras/King's Cross station literally steps away made getting around the city incredibly easy and manageable. The hotel is slightly removed from the busiest tourist areas, which we loved, but the neighborhood still had plenty of energy and gave us that ideal London atmosphere. And then there is the lovely staff. Not a single day went by when we didn't feel completely welcomed. We were always greeted with genuine smiles, and everyone was incredibly accommodating with any needs or preferences we had. I especially loved getting to know Jack at the front desk. He was absolutely fabulous in every sense of the word--a true treasure and such a memorable part of our stay. He knew the area incredibly well, and when I mentioned that my local friends and I were going to a West End show, he had so much insight to share. The bath amenities were L'Occitane. This company knows and understands the meaning of luxury all around. Anytime we needed anything, they would bring it up to our room right away and the day we checked out, we ordered cafe au lait, and it was one of the best cafe au lait I ever tasted in my life. The almond milk was steams to perfection with the perfect amount. The Front Desk staff was exceptional. I believe the gentleman who checked us in was, Daniel. Very nice and memorable check-in. I spoke with the concierge before our arrival date and in person and they were all super helpful and fantastic. Everything about this hotel was just spectacular and went above and beyond for you. Would I stay again? Without a doubt. The view sells itself, but to have that level of service from an exceptional staff and amenities, it's unmatchable. The price may be steep, but well worth it. Again the prices a ridiculous we paid 26 bloody pounds for eggs Benedict. There's a pool on the 52nd floor that you do have to reserve but up there you can get tea, coffee, and fruit for free. There's a sauna up there as well.

Well spaced tables mean you don't have to yell to be heard & it's still cosy. Nice view too. Our food selection was well catered because I had 3 vegetarians in the group as well as 1 who doesn't eat cucumbers. Seamless service & we didn't get rushed out either. We'll defo come back! Thanks to the entire staff at The Terrace for making us feel so welcome.

The hostess greeted me so warmly and said I can do the modified version and it would just be about 6 British Pounds. A whole tea service usually costs at least 30 pounds in most places. The waitress, Martinou, delivered me excellent service. I only wanted one scone but she gave me 4, plus the clotted cream and jam and a little cake. I was literally treated like a queen there. She boxed up the remaining scones and threw in some extra tea bags to take home. She gave a coupon to come back, but unfortunately it was my last day in London. I would love to go there again.
