Not an ideal stay, but some of the amenities and the pub make up for the hike into town. We stayed here for about 2 weeks.
Room: very clean. Seems to have had a recent revamp, but on a budget. We're not heavy individuals, yet the toilet seat broke when we sat on it. Aesthetically, the room is nice but seems to lack in quality- the mattress was OK, not much of a view at all (storage facility next door). Also, because the building is dated, if you're a light sleeper the heavy doors might wake you. The better half of the room would be that the hotel provided more than enough shampoo, teas, and biscuits (all of which come in handy when you're so far from town).
Location: The hotel is about a 5 minute walk to the nearest tube station (hanger lane). Despite this, by the time you get to and from your destination in London, you never want to lay eyes on the tube again. The tube will become your best friend as the hotel is probably 45 minutes worth of stops to wherever you want to go. Also, there is not much to offer around the hotel. The area is very residential, and other than McDonalds, and a sainsburys (a 20 minute walk away), you feel pretty remote. Thank god for the pub (the pub that closes fairly early).
Pub: Delicious pub fare. I don't know what we would have done without it, as the hotel isn't really close to much. I recommend the turkey pie with mash and anything served with their triple fried chips.
We probably won't stay here again, mostly because there are hotel options closer to town for the same price if not less. read more
