The contractor came out, marked up my lawn, sprayed grass killer, and began preparing the area. Shortly afterward, another contractor happened to stop by and offered a quote. Out of fairness, I wanted to validate pricing not to haggle, just to understand. Instead of having a professional conversation, RC Landscaping took offense and walked off the job entirely. What's worse is that he had already sprayed my yard, leaving me with dead, unsightly grass and no plan to repair or finish the work. Now I'm left scrambling to fix damage I didn't ask for just because I wanted to make an informed decision. The photo attached shows the current state of my lawn. It's clear, marked, and dead. This wasn't how I expected the relationship to end. If you're considering RC Landscaping, beware: if you seek clarity on price, they might just leave you mid-project. RESPONSE : I initially contacted RC Landscaping to help design flower beds for my front yard. We discussed expectations, and he even came out to mark the yard and spray it to prep for install. While I hadn't delivered the materials yet, I was planning to, and we had a start date set. Things changed when I asked a simple question about pricing. Another contractor had stopped by with a lower estimate, and I wanted to understand the difference--especially since only one bed was multi-layered and the rest were basic. I wasn't trying to cancel the job; just asking for clarity. Instead of a conversation, the contractor called off the job entirely, citing a lack of trust. I was left with patches of dead grass and no work done. I also asked to keep the drawing for reference (since I now have to start over), but was told no. The owner claims I was difficult or indecisive--but I have screenshots that show I was respectful and collaborative throughout. I never changed the job scope drastically--I asked thoughtful questions as part of normal planning. In the end, I can't recommend this business based on how the situation was handled. A simple follow-up led to the project being abandoned, and now I'm left cleaning up and restarting. Attaching screenshots from our actual conversation to provide context. We hired Jeremiah to replace about 80% of our yard with sod. Came to find out that he is not very…read moredependable and does not stick to his word and do what he says he would. From the initial estimate, to doing the work, to coming back to fix troubled areas in the yard, he was late for every appointment he set. Once the job was completed I found sprinkler heads that were buried under the sod and that none of the sprinkler head heights were adjusted to accommodate the height of the new sod. Plus one of the zones completely stopped working. Of course this affected the yard receiving the correct amount of water in certain spots. Jeremiah promised to come out and replace the affected grass and fix the non working zone. He did come out and replace some small affected patches, and attempted to fix the non working zone in which he was unsuccessful. He then stated that he would come back to replace the grass in the non working zone. An appointment date and time was set. He was a no show for the appointment. Rescheduled for the next day. Again a no show. Finally after a number of texts and phone calls from me he shows up and instead of replacing the dead grass that he promised to replace, he removed good sod from other parts of the yard and put the dead grass in its place. I contacted Water Drainage Innovations by sending a message through Yelp asking for a quote. We set up an appointment with Dennis and he came out to measure and see what was needed. He gave us a brief verbal overview in person and then sent a written proposal. After we collected all of our bids, we really liked the plan Dennis came up with. It was comprehensive and would solve our needs and the price was fair. We signed and returned the proposal. We then set up a date to start the work. It was a 2 day job to install French Drains that run along both sides of our property. They ran PVC pipe, tying in from the gutter downspouts and going under the sidewalk and out to the street. It involved cutting holes in the curb so the water could drain out. Dennis and his team did a great job throughout the entire project. They showed up when they said they would. They were professional and polite, respectful of our property, even cleaning up at the end of day one knowing they would be back the next day. We sent half the money owed at the end of day one via Zelle, and the balance after the job was complete. We are very happy with how the entire project went and highly recommend Dennis and Water Drainage Innovations. Now we just need everyone to wash their cars and windows and do a rain dance so we can watch the water drain into the street!
