This shop is amazing. The staff is so courteous to everyone who comes in and welcomes them as a customer.

I had a very disappointing experience at Mavis Tire in New Windsor, NY, and I won't be returning…read more I made an 11:00 AM appointment on Friday, July 3 to repair a slow leak in my front right tire. A simple tire repair should not have taken 2 1/2 hours, yet that's exactly how long I was there. What I don't understand is why the technicians spent time opening my hood and inspecting mechanical components that had absolutely nothing to do with the reason I came in. I wasn't there for a vehicle inspection or maintenance--I was there to have a tire repaired. My tire should have been fixed promptly, especially since I had an appointment. To make matters worse, I was charged $43 to repair a tire with a nail in it. Most reputable tire shops charge around $20 for a standard plug-and-patch repair. The biggest disappointment came a week later when the tire started leaking again. I had to take my vehicle to another tire shop, where they repaired it correctly. While waiting, I also noticed that the customer experience left a lot to be desired. The restroom was dirty, the waiting room had uncomfortable chairs, and the television was broken, making an already lengthy wait even more unpleasant. So, after waiting 2 1/2 hours, paying what I consider an excessive price, sitting in an uncomfortable waiting room with a dirty restroom and broken TV, and then having to pay another shop to repair the same tire correctly, I have to ask: Why would I ever go back? Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this location.

I had previously used this Mavis for basic service and had generally reliable experiences, but…read moresomething seems to have changed. Most recently, I brought my Audi Q7 in for new tires. During the service, I was upcharged for new valve stems and TPMS components that were not included in the original estimate. Almost immediately afterward, the TPMS began malfunctioning. I brought the vehicle back with a 9:00 a.m. appointment to have them address it. My car sat outside essentially the entire day, and I finally got it back after hours. Despite having it all day, they never even put it on a lift to inspect the work they had just performed. They simply reset the tire pressures, which I had already tried multiple times, and told me they couldn't do anything else and that I needed to take it to an Audi dealer. I ultimately brought it to an independent Audi specialist who removed the tires and actually inspected the work. He found aftermarket TPMS components and incorrect valve stems had been installed, along with damage to the valve stem opening in one of the rims. I was told the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The damaged rim now has to be replaced, the shop is trying to source a replacement used rim, and I'm facing approximately $700 in additional repairs plus the cost of a rental car while my Q7 is off the road. This also follows a previous oil change here where bolts were overtightened so badly that I needed an Audi specialist to get them off before the oil could be changed again. I used to trust this location for straightforward work without unnecessary upcharges or problems. I don't know if there has been a change in management or staff, but my recent experiences have been completely different. The most frustrating part is that I brought the vehicle back specifically because something was wrong immediately after their work, gave them the vehicle for an entire day, and they didn't even inspect the work they had just performed. Instead, I was sent elsewhere and am now without my vehicle and paying hundreds of dollars to correct the problem.

Do you know that feeling when you are on the highway, far from home, and all of a sudden your car…read morestarts making a horrible shrieking sound? I hope you don't. It's a terrible feeling. But should you ever find yourself in such a spot, the answer is simple. Slow your roll. Exit the highway as soon as possible. Find a mechanic to patch you up and get you back on the road. Oh yeah, and pray to god it's not Saturday, since most reputable mechanics take their weekends off. Well, on a recent Saturday such a fate befell me and my poor Mazda5. The car is old, but in good repair. It's serviced regularly, and just recently got a clean bill of health. So that brain twisting screeching sound was really quite a mystery. Did I mention I know nothing about cars? Still, I pulled into a nearby Denny's to look under the hood to see if anything was clearly broken. I looked under the wheel well to see if some piece of metal snapped. And I saw nothing. So I hopped on the Yelp app and found that the Meineke next door was not just open, but also well reviewed. The team there saved my life. Not literally of course. As it turned out, my life was never in danger. But they were able to get my car on the lift, and take it out on road, all within about an hour of my showing up. They determined that it was nothing. Maybe it had been something. Whatever small piece of road debris had gotten into the wheel well, had apparently worked itself out. They could have told me something was wrong with the bushings. I could have been taken for hundreds of dollars at that moment. But instead, they sent me back on the road with a smile, and refused to take any money for their time. Sure, they didn't actually fix anything. But their trained eye gave me peace of mind. And that's worth a lot. Thank you random Meineke. You guys rock.

I ask if they found the hole in the tire and they tell me it's the TPM sensor and it's gonna be expensive to replace. I've been filling the tire up with air every 2 days for weeks. Either they didn't even look at my car or they don't know what their doing. If you don't got time at the end of the day to look at my car that's fine, but don't lie to my face. *Update* Went to another mechanic and they said I had a bad tire valve stem and replaced immediately.
