Working with Amber from Preferred Sonoma Caterers was a breeze. We had a set budget I needed to work with for a Celebration of Life gathering. We wanted all finger foods and nothing that had to be kept hot. Not only did Amber make solid food recommendations but she stayed within our budget. Preferred Sonoma catered our 100-guest wedding in Sonoma back in November of 2023 (Yup! This review is way overdue). Amber, the owner, sounded very nice and was super patient with answering every question I had. We discussed our theme and my wedding vision and then I had a follow-up call from Maddie, who was also very sweet. I was presented with a proposal tailored from our discourse and everything was a breeze from there. We enjoyed the complimentary tasting and Maddie and the rest of the staff made that experience very enjoyable for us. We encountered an issue with my signature cocktails just a few weeks prior to the wedding but Amber was quick to jump into action and the problem was resolved--just like it never happened. My guests raved about the food, especially the Hors d'oeuvres! I truly appreciated the small bites waiting in the bridal suite for my husband and I after the ceremony. It was very thoughtful and sweet! We went with the plated menu and everyone complimented on how flavorful their meal selections were as well as the fact that their food was served to them promptly. They also were also very attentive to my guests' food allergies and sensitivities. The bar staff and the servers were all so very nice and there wasn't an empty cup in the building. Everyone loved the Bao bar and they also accommodated our request to have a ramen bar. The desserts were delectable and not overly sweet! I did not have to worry about event rental services as Preferred Sonoma also offered that service through their partnership with event rental companies. All that was arranged for us by them. We booked them over a year in advance, and from the very beginning, they were incredibly easy to work with. Chef and owner Amber was present at both our tasting and on the wedding day--her attention and care made a huge difference, and she's an absolute gem. We also worked with Yesenia for the initial planning, and she handled all our emails and calls with such professionalism. When AnnieLaurie took over in the final month, the transition was seamless. We opted for family-style dining, which created a warm, inviting atmosphere and let our guests enjoy as much as they wanted. The food presentation was beautiful and everything tasted wonderful. We just used Sonoma Preferred for our wedding in Sonoma! They were on the preferred vendor list, and it was amazing. I worked mostly with Maddie and Annie Laurie, who were incredibly patient and flexible with me as I was making tweaks/additions to the menu until the last weeks. They are down to earth and aren't trying to upsell you, but working with your budget and finding things ways you could save money. They also handled my rentals and the numerous small changes, and helped set up the table decor. We loved our tasting, and went with the braised beef short rib, slow roast pork shoulder, raviolis and vintage bites for dessert. I wanted to include some Asian elements, and they suggested a build-your-own bao bar, which guests loved. They also set up a champagne tower for me which was a lot of fun. The cocktail were ON POINT! We had several signature cocktails replicated from favorite bars over the years and we and everyone loved them. The wonderful staff generously made the rounds with incredible hors d'oeuvres, hot from the mobile onsite kitchen in a tent, including a crab tartlet and a Korean short rib piled on top of sushi rice cake, scrumptious! We got married at the Secret Gardens and knew that we wanted a caterer familiar with the quirky setup of the venue. This team is the one to hire! In fact, they were so fantastic that we asked them to caterer our brunch on the bluffs the following day. The FOOD! We had two passed apps, the bounty cheese & fruit display and added charcuterie; two types of salads family style, and a full buffet with chicken, braised beef, farro, veggies, and ravioli (these were mouth-watering). For dessert, we had their classy cups and s'mores, and asked that they assist to set up our cookie table (hometown tradition). Not only did everything look great, but it tasted even better. This was the first year we decided not to prepare our own Thanksgiving dinner. We had previous experiences with Preferred Sonoma, (4 or more) which were all positive, so after seeing their posted menu we decided to have them prepare our Thanksgiving meal as well. We ordered one and a half dinners which fed more than 12 easily. On pick up day, the day before Thanksgiving, we arrived with their having everything ready to go in boxes, including re-heating instructions. The pickup was very orderly and we were in and out in no time. Bravo. I can safely say we will never cook another Thanksgiving dinner. The food was amazing, more on that in a bit, but no pots and pans to wash, no prep time other than re-heating, and the Oatmeal cookies they included as a thank you were simply Devine. On to the meal, the Turkey was excellent but the real winners were the maple candied yams, the gravy and the stuffing. I never thought I would hear my son say he liked yams, but he went back for seconds. The only problem with the food was it was so good I didn't have room for the dessert, the apple streusel pie. I had to eat it the next day...oh darn! Don't hesitate to give them a try. Now we are considering their Christmas dinner. read more

I've ordered Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter dinners from them over the years and it is amazingly delicious every time. Christmas 2020 was a BREEZE for me as all I had to do was heat, toss and serve. But let's talk about the Easter dinner last weekend ... glazed spiral slice ham and cheesy potatoes that will make you cry. Each component comes with instructions, PSC could not make it easier. All I did was set the table, decant the food into bowls that made it look like I had spent hours in the kitchen and sit down to eat. No one was disappointed and everyone was smiling. My wife and I chose Preferred Sonoma Caterers to cater our wedding that was almost two years ago, and it was one of the best decision we made for that day. Amber is amazing. The conversation about our southern styled vision set in the redwoods of Sebastopol brought out Amber's creativity. Her vision: Southern cooking with a Sonoma County twist. Pulled pork, white cheddar mac and cheese, jambalaya, an heirloom tomato salad, caesar salad, grilled veggies, and an epic cheese plate...it's making my mouth water just writing about it. It was one of the easiest decisions for our wedding. We knew that Preferred Sonoma Caterers was the best decision for us. They completely delivered on our wedding day and everything went by without a hitch. The table settings looked spectacular, the servers were friendly, and the food was to die for. Sonoma Preferred Caterers We have used PSC for parties for several years but this Covid-19 year has expanded our appreciation of their services. Last Christmas we ordered their Prime Rib Christmas dinner so that I could stay out of the grocery store, and support local business. Everything about that order made my life easier. Pick-up was so well organized, the cooking instructions were perfect (they even included a meat thermometer to make sure our Prime Rib was properly cooked) and the food was outstanding. The meal was such a huge hit that I checked their website for Easter. I ordered the Easter brunch and it was just as wonderful as our Christmas dinner. Our family has decided that we will make PSC holiday meals our holiday tradition. Not only has my workload been reduced, but the cost is totally reasonable and the food is superb. read more

I know people say this all the time but I wish I could give this company more than 5 stars!!! They just catered our wedding with 81 guests on October 22 @ Flying Cloud Farms in Petaluma and it was perfect. We live in Las Vegas so everything had to be done over the phone or via email. Luckily Amber took the time to get to know us and put together an amazing menu for us with very little input on our end. It was like she knew us for years!! We were able to head up to Petaluma in March and Amber put together a tasting for us to make sure it was the menu we wanted to roll with. Everything was killer!!!!! We were so excited to serve that menu to our guests. The menu consisted of a bounty display that had an assortment of cheese, crackers, breads, and fruit from the area. Also we had a welcome bar with mango tea, lemonade, and infused water. For dinner we started with an Apple Waldorf Salad, along with an artisan bread basket and marinated olive plates. The main course consisted of Braised Beef Short Ribs, Lemon and Rosemary Roasted Chicken, White Cheddar Mac & Cheese, Buttermilk Mashed Yukon Golds, Roasted Asparagus w/ Red and Yellow Peppers. There was also coffee service at the end of the meal as well. (On a side note, we had a groomsman that has a very severe nut allergy and mentioned it to one server and within a minute she went back to the kitchen and prepared a single salad, which was amazing!!!) We had 9 guest tables and a large head table set up for the wedding and decided to serve the meal family style, which turned out awesome!! Amber assured us that no one would go hungry and that was the truth! Many of our guests were raving about the quality of the food served. I heard the most feedback about the Spare Ribs and the Mashed Potatoes (everything was outstanding but those were my favorite as well). The next day I had many guests tell us that that was by far the best food they have ever had at a wedding!!! The service provided by all of the staff was top notch, all of tables had their food very fast. It had to be under 2 minutes. After the food was dropped off all of the staff walked around making sure everyone had wine and made sure all tables were happy. They paid extra attention to the head table which we really appreciated. I know there was only a handful of staff on hand but it seemed like there were 50 people due to how quick and efficient everyone was. After dinner the staff made sure I was never empty-handed. They would never interrupt while I was talking to someone but they always stopped by to see if they could get me something to drink. The bar-tending staff also did a great job keeping up with the drinkers that we had at our party, which was greatly appreciated!! Rewind to the beginning of the day, before our ceremony. The groomsmen and I were getting ready, having a couple beers when we noticed the boutonnieres in a bag. None of use had the slightest idea of how you are supposed to pin those on a suit without mangling them. This is when I yelled "anyone know how to pin these on?" Amber, Edie and the entire PSC crew are simply amazing! Food was always one of the most important parts of our wedding for us and they delivered an amazing dining experience for us. They kept the entire event running smoothly and paid so much attention to the details, things we didn't even go over like the bar arrangement and hors d'oeuvres table setup. Her crew brought us food and drinks while we were taking our photos, she made each plate beautiful without a full kitchen at her disposal (pretty sure she used magic) and sent us off with a plate of food, cookies and other goodies that we ate as soon as we got to our hotel room. Preferred caterers recently did my very small, weekend destination wedding. They did an outstanding job! They exceeded my expectations in every way. From the planning stages with Karen, to the actual night of the event everyone was was thoughtful and lovely. The food was outstanding and the buffet portions were huge, enough to serve our guests lunch the next day! The real star was Ann, who was our server at our event. She really went above and beyond, and did everything she could to make the day go smoothly, and treated me like a princess. All of my guested raved about her and the food too. Preferred Sonoma Caterers catered our wedding, and we're so pleased with our experience with AnnieLaurie, Karen, and the team! Since many of our guests would be from out-of-state, we really wanted to showcase fresh, local California cuisine, while making sure that no one would leave the wedding hungry. They came as a recommended caterer from both our venue and our wedding planner, and we are thrilled that we went with them! During our first phone interview with the team, my fiancé at-the-time and I were impressed by their professionalism and curiosity about our preferences (previous caterers we'd spoken to seemed a lot less concerned about our preferences, either because they couldn't accommodate a variety of options or they didn't care). At our tasting, we were impressed with the presentation, freshness, and care put into each of the dishes, and we knew we'd found our caterers! During the wedding processes, the PSC team was incredibly flexible and responsive to our several rounds of menu changes and rental changes (they handled our rentals for us, as an extra bonus). On the day-of, AnnieLaurie and her team executed a beautiful meal, wonderful bar, and all-around exceptional wedding experience for us and all of our guests! AnnieLaurie and her staff on-site were simply AMAZING. AnnieLaurie was SO HELPFUL throughout the day, checking in with us regularly and even offering to help when I needed to fit in a quick bustle minutes before cocktail hour ended. My husband and I unfortunately missed cocktail hour due to photos, but AnnieLaurie left us a plate of the different appetizers AND got us cocktails so that we could get some nourishment in before dinner :) She made sure we got our food first and that we always had enough water and alcohol, and even helped keep us on schedule. Even though many couples say they end up starving at their wedding, AnnieLaurie and her staff made sure we were well-taken care of! They not only extended this graciousness to my husband and I, but to all of our guests as well! All of the guests were SO IMPRESSED with the PSC team's professionalism and attentiveness, and everyone RAVED about the food (ESPECIALLY THE LAMB LOLLIPOP APPETIZERS). We are SO pleased with our experience with PSC! They are such a joy to work with and go above and beyond in ensuring the success of your event. Holy amazing! If I could give Preferred Sonoma more stars I would. These are the guys that you want to trust to handle your wedding day. Seriously! My husband and I got married in Yosemite but we wanted something for friends and family as well. So we decided to hold a reception in Bodega Bay at the Secret Gardens. We immediately wanted a company who had experience at the gardens since it can be tricky to get to. Preferred Sonoma was the way to go. These guys have it down! They were helpful in choosing our menu (Amber is a genius with food!) and answered all of our questions and concerns up to the very last days before the reception. Edie (the woman who is in charge of emails) is hands down the best communicator we have come across. She is helpful, doesn't push any extra costs on us, and is very prompt in her responses back. She sent us multiple quotes as we added and eliminated things without any hesitation. The day of the reception, the team got to the gardens right on time and began setting up immediately. Amber handled everything and made our day so smooth and worry free. The captain made me a plate to eat (it's hard to remember when you want to talk to everyone!) and even packed us extra food at the end of the night. The staff was so friendly and accommodating to all of our guests. The food. My god, the food! We had the bounty harvest with cheese and fruits which was a hit! Everyone loved it and the caterers left the table out for almost the whole night so guests could nibble on it. For our main course we had chicken and mushroom kebabs, trip tip, macaroni and cheese (the best thing I have ever eaten) and grilled veggies. We had two different types of salad and they even baked us individual pies for dessert! We had a s'mores bar with different types of chocolate and guests just couldn't get enough! At the end of the night, the team broke down everything so quickly and efficiently and let my husband and I enjoy the rest of the night. Thank you Edie and Amber so much for all of your hard work. I just attended an event catered in a beautiful home in Petaluma by Preferred Sonoma Caterers. The food was excellent, the staff was unobtrusive but wonderful, the guests raved about the selections, their displays and presentation were outstanding. So professional and well organized, they were tuned into the crowd and the party was a huge success! I highly recommend this company for catering any event. read more
