Working with Amber from Preferred Sonoma Caterers was a breeze. We had a set budget I needed to work with for a Celebration of Life gathering. We wanted all finger foods and nothing that had to be kept hot. Not only did Amber make solid food recommendations but she stayed within our budget. We served empanadas, bruschetta, ham & Swiss pinwheels and turkey & cheese wraps. Everything was delicious, beautifully presented and more than enough for our 25 or so guests. We had enough so no one walked away hungry. We kept hearing how good the food was throughout the event. I felt lucky to have found Preferred Sonoma Caterers as I am not from the area. They made the Celebration of Life event stress free and hassle free. Would absolutely use them again. Highly recommended. Thank you for everything Amber! read more

From our first conversation with Preferred Sonoma Caterers, we knew we had made the right choice. Their team was attentive and clear throughout the entire planning process, taking time to understand exactly what we wanted for our big day. The personalized tasting they offered gave us confidence in their ability to deliver, and they were incredibly accommodating with our guests' dietary restrictions. On the wedding day, their staff stayed engaged and responsive, making sure everything ran smoothly from start to finish. Everyone raved about the food--guests with and without dietary restrictions all loved the flavors and quality of every dish. We can't thank Preferred Sonoma Caterers enough for making our wedding celebration so delicious and special. read more

We couldn't have been happier with procuring Sonoma Caterers for our wedding in Petaluma. Yesenia and Amber were with us every step of the way and made our reception truly special. The food was fresh and the guests raved about it, especially the dessert bites and the taco bar! Everything was done according to schedule and orchestrated very well. Preferred Sonoma catered our 100-guest wedding in Sonoma back in November of 2023 (Yup! This review is way overdue). Amber, the owner, sounded very nice and was super patient with answering every question I had. We discussed our theme and my wedding vision and then I had a follow-up call from Maddie, who was also very sweet. I was presented with a proposal tailored from our discourse and everything was a breeze from there. We enjoyed the complimentary tasting and Maddie and the rest of the staff made that experience very enjoyable for us. We encountered an issue with my signature cocktails just a few weeks prior to the wedding but Amber was quick to jump into action and the problem was resolved--just like it never happened. My guests raved about the food, especially the Hors d'oeuvres! I truly appreciated the small bites waiting in the bridal suite for my husband and I after the ceremony. It was very thoughtful and sweet! We went with the plated menu and everyone complimented on how flavorful their meal selections were as well as the fact that their food was served to them promptly. They also were also very attentive to my guests' food allergies and sensitivities. The bar staff and the servers were all so very nice and there wasn't an empty cup in the building. Everyone loved the Bao bar and they also accommodated our request to have a ramen bar. The desserts were delectable and not overly sweet! I did not have to worry about event rental services as Preferred Sonoma also offered that service through their partnership with event rental companies. All that was arranged for us by them. Choosing the right vendors for a wedding can be very stressful but deciding to book Preferred Sonoma was a choice well-made. They were instrumental in making our wedding the perfect night! read more

They catered a bridal shower for me, Sonoma, 40 guests. 3/28/26. Had a family style lunch (Sonoma menu) & passes appetizers. (Pesto potatoes, strawberry chevre). Preferred Sonoma Caterers exceeded all of our expectations! After choosing our venue, catering was our top priority because we truly care about having great food. We're so glad we went with PSC. We booked them over a year in advance, and from the very beginning, they were incredibly easy to work with. Chef and owner Amber was present at both our tasting and on the wedding day--her attention and care made a huge difference, and she's an absolute gem. We also worked with Yesenia for the initial planning, and she handled all our emails and calls with such professionalism. When AnnieLaurie took over in the final month, the transition was seamless. We opted for family-style dining, which created a warm, inviting atmosphere and let our guests enjoy as much as they wanted. The food presentation was beautiful and everything tasted wonderful. One of the highlights was taking full advantage of the pizza oven at our venue--PSC served up a variety of delicious pizzas during cocktail hour, which our guests loved. PSC was a dream to work with--extremely accommodating, responsive, and dedicated to making our day special. We couldn't have asked for a better catering experience! read more

Preferred Sonoma brought my daughter's wedding vision to life! On the top of a hill in the middle of a vineyard, With exceptional service and the best tasting wedding dinner - they deserve 10 stars. Preferred Sonoma Caterers did a fantastic job providing catering and event rentals for our wedding. Even though they came highly recommended by our venue, they went above and beyond our expectations. Preferred Sonoma made the process easy and stress-free from the get-go. Yesenia and AnnieLaurie were organized, easy to work with, and adaptable to changes in plans/guest count. They had plenty of options to choose from on the menu, and were able to accommodate our unconventional choice of an ice cream bar for dessert (which I also would recommend). The food was not only delicious but beautifully presented, and we got several compliments from our guests. They had a great rentals selection through heirloom events and were able to guide us through the process to make sure we got everything we needed. Thank you guys and would recommend to anyone getting married in the North Bay Area. read more

We just used Sonoma Preferred for our wedding in Sonoma! They were on the preferred vendor list, and it was amazing. I worked mostly with Maddie and Annie Laurie, who were incredibly patient and flexible with me as I was making tweaks/additions to the menu until the last weeks. They are down to earth and aren't trying to upsell you, but working with your budget and finding things ways you could save money. They also handled my rentals and the numerous small changes, and helped set up the table decor. We loved our tasting, and went with the braised beef short rib, slow roast pork shoulder, raviolis and vintage bites for dessert. I wanted to include some Asian elements, and they suggested a build-your-own bao bar, which guests loved. They also set up a champagne tower for me which was a lot of fun. The cocktail were ON POINT! We had several signature cocktails replicated from favorite bars over the years and we and everyone loved them. They also boxed up the food at the end of the night - our whole family chowed down on this the day after the wedding. read more

I simply cannot write enough good things about the PSC tea and the quality of their food. I have a local business that provides luxury picnics to our clients and it is imperative that the food match the experience in looks and taste and PSC never disappoints. From a picnic client perspective-our clients rave about the food to the point that we have never received a complaint but they also LOVE the packaging. Even when food is placed into disposable boxes PSC takes the time to tie it up with cute twine and greenery to ensure all items maintain the vibe of a fancy picnic. The team is also so gracious when answering client questions about dietary restrictions. From a business collaboration perspective- PSC is up for a challenge!! We Toss around so many ideas and they are always up for a challenge and we always end up with fun offerings my clients are not expecting. I love their ability to pivot and make it all seem effortless. If you are looking for a caterer you cannot go wrong with this team! read more

A terribly overdue review, but we loved working with Preferred Sonoma Caterers for our wedding in May 2023. We had fun working with Amber, the head chef, to create a menu that suited ours and our guests' tastes. From our very first phone call with her to the tastings and the wedding day, she exuded kindness and eagerness that made it such a joy to work with her and her team. She went as far as to learn how to recreate a recipe that my mother makes so that we could serve it during our wedding reception (to which many compliments were given!). They were exceptionally kind with answering any questions we had and accommodating any requests or changes we made throughout the planning process. Their event coordination team made sure all of our rental orders were taken care of so it was one less thing we had to worry about on such a busy day. Our wedding guests gave numerous compliments not only about the food, but also about the kindness and professionalism of the staff which shows how much care they put into creating a positive and welcoming experience for everyone. I can't say enough positive things about my experience with Preferred Sonoma Catering!! They were our favorite wedding vendor!! We worked with them for our wedding in 2021 (booked in 2019 but due to COVID had to postpone). They are the best of the best!! We worked with Karen for the majority of the time - she is absolutely amazing! I felt like we had a full service wedding planner, caterer, advice giver, all in one. And the best part, their food is AMAZING. We had so many guests tell us that it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. My husband and I feel the same way!! We are still drooling over the dinner - braised short ribs & Mary's chicken breast. Presentation was perfect, the food was delicious, the staff is a dream, I could go on and on. We even got lucky and they packed us up a few boxes of dinners for us to eat after our wedding. We loved having this the day after :) I'd love to hire them again and will always remember our experience with this team! Throughout all the craziness of the past few years, PSC was so kind, helpful, flexible, and willing to help. Thank you, Preferred Sonoma Caterers for making our wedding day so perfect!! read more

I can't say enough how great Amber and her team are at top notch preparation, planning and execution. We had 350 people at my daughter's wedding and they were all served their plated meal in less than 30 minutes. The best part is they served everyone at each table at the same time. Amber totally filled in the gap of a less than perfect wedding planner. She constantly checked in with the bride and groom and us. Preferred Sonoma catered our wedding and not only were they amazing to work with prior to the wedding but they delivered amazing food and service the day of. Prior to the wedding we had a private tasting to try some of the potential appetizers and entrees. Definitely choose the creamy pesto tortellini as one of your sides for dinner - so good! All of the staff we interacted with were processional and kind and offered some great suggestions for food and rentals. You can definitely tell they know what they're doing there and have a ton of experience. I would highly recommend their catering services for your next event! read more

TL;DR We are SO fortunate and grateful for the incredible team at Preferred Sonoma. We loved them from the moment we had our tasting, every single guest raved about the food at our wedding, and the staff is truly unparalleled. Huge huge thank you and highest recommendations. We hired Preferred Sonoma in 2020 after going to about 4-5 other caterers for tastings. Not only was the food at Preferred Sonoma the best by a mile, but Karen, Tori, and Edie made the experience amazing and the prices were extremely reasonable. I could tell from the very beginning that this team truly cared about delivering the best experience and highest quality to us and they prioritized staying within our budget while doing so. They fully understood my vision from the get go and executed to perfection. The night of the wedding, every single guest pulled me aside to tell me how it was the best food they've had at a wedding, how they never had to wait long for the servers to come around with passed appetizers, their cups were full with wine, and how wonderful the staff was. Not to mention, I was also blown away by the gorgeous plating of all the main courses and the stationed bounty table (charcuterie). Preferred Sonoma overdelivered in every single category: service, appearance, taste, etc. We feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with them and we could not recommend them enough. They are the best of the best. Of course, you're wondering what we had that was SO good: - Mushroom spring rolls (the highlight - everyone loved!) - Bounty Harvest charcuterie (Amazing!!! and they kept it fully stocked throughout cocktail hour so it always looked beautiful and untouched, despite people chowing down) - Chimichurri Steak - truffle mushroom ravioli - Parmesan truffle popcorn read more

Preferred Sonoma Caterers provided the excellent menu of goodies at the Hansel BMW Holiday party and could not have been better! The wonderful staff generously made the rounds with incredible hors d'oeuvres, hot from the mobile onsite kitchen in a tent, including a crab tartlet and a Korean short rib piled on top of sushi rice cake, scrumptious! In addition to the excellent hors d'oeuvres was a hot bar of melt in your mouth short ribs and the best mash potatoes I have ever tasted! Of course they had a premium charcuterie table and a desert table too! If your hosting a premium event in the area, I have no idea what the cost would be, but I would certainly obtain a quote form PSC. read more

Such great food. I was in a last minute bind trying to find a caterer for my parents very intimate anniversary dinner and I am beyond happy I found them. Edie was so helpful and friendly. She was on top of everything I needed and within a week I had planned and pulled off the most important part of a dinner - the food! Thank you Edie & team. My very picky father had no complaints. We loved the salmon, veggies, salad and tortellini and not one thing went unmentioned as to how amazing and fresh it all tasted. Will definitely be doing business with them in the future and will recommend to all! read more

SIMPLY AMAZING! We can't say enough praises on how wonderful Amber, Edie, and the entire team at PSC are. We got married at the Secret Gardens and knew that we wanted a caterer familiar with the quirky setup of the venue. This team is the one to hire! We knew we were in good hands from the beginning; Edie was super helpful and very responsive, and Amber made the entire process easy, seamless, and fun. In fact, they were so fantastic that we asked them to caterer our brunch on the bluffs the following day. The FOOD! Our friends and family are still talking about how amazing the food was at the wedding. I work in hospitality and know how difficult it is to run a banquet event and to maintain the food quality. We had two passed apps, the bounty cheese & fruit display and added charcuterie; two types of salads family style, and a full buffet with chicken, braised beef, farro, veggies, and ravioli (these were mouth-watering). For dessert, we had their classy cups and s'mores, and asked that they assist to set up our cookie table (hometown tradition). Not only did everything look great, but it tasted even better. We've already had a couple of friends reach out for recommendations! A huge THANK YOU to this entire team - you've exceeded our expectations. If we can give a better rating, we would. We highly recommend PSC, and suggest that you contact them if planning an event in or around the Sonoma/Petaluma/Bodega Bay area. They will be the first ones we call should we host an event that way again. read more

This was the first year we decided not to prepare our own Thanksgiving dinner. We had previous experiences with Preferred Sonoma, (4 or more) which were all positive, so after seeing their posted menu we decided to have them prepare our Thanksgiving meal as well. We ordered one and a half dinners which fed more than 12 easily. On pick up day, the day before Thanksgiving, we arrived with their having everything ready to go in boxes, including re-heating instructions. The pickup was very orderly and we were in and out in no time. Bravo. I can safely say we will never cook another Thanksgiving dinner. The food was amazing, more on that in a bit, but no pots and pans to wash, no prep time other than re-heating, and the Oatmeal cookies they included as a thank you were simply Devine. On to the meal, the Turkey was excellent but the real winners were the maple candied yams, the gravy and the stuffing. I never thought I would hear my son say he liked yams, but he went back for seconds. The only problem with the food was it was so good I didn't have room for the dessert, the apple streusel pie. I had to eat it the next day...oh darn! Don't hesitate to give them a try. Now we are considering their Christmas dinner. read more

I ordered their pre made Thanksgiving Dinner this year. It was amazing! I had 14 guest and everyone comment on how delicious the meal was. There was not a single thing I would change about the meal. read more

Sonoma Preferred Catering always exceeds our expectations. From the moment we reach out to them with a catering request to every detail in the middle they handle each communication with the highest level of professionalism. They are truly a delight to work with. The menu planning and food are outstanding. I have had the privilege to work with them on a number of events over the last decade and the quality of their food stands out far and above the other caterers. This last weekend I hired Sonoma Preferred for a small 60th wedding anniversary celebration and used their casual catering to go. The menu included Sonoma Bounty Charcuterie, Shrimp Avocado Mango Fresh Roll, Crab Cakes with Basil Mayonnaise, Sesame Five Spice Chicken Poppers with Thai Peanut Sauce. The food pick-up, the carriers they provided for the food and the food itself were delicious. I would highly recommend Sonoma Preferred Caterers for any event, large or small. read more

Not sure I have ever Yelped these guys before and that is my bad, they are that good that I should Yelp them every time. I've ordered Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter dinners from them over the years and it is amazingly delicious every time. Christmas 2020 was a BREEZE for me as all I had to do was heat, toss and serve. But let's talk about the Easter dinner last weekend ... glazed spiral slice ham and cheesy potatoes that will make you cry. Each component comes with instructions, PSC could not make it easier. All I did was set the table, decant the food into bowls that made it look like I had spent hours in the kitchen and sit down to eat. No one was disappointed and everyone was smiling. Think a caterer is only for an event somewhere else? Think again, these guys make holiday dinners memorable. PS - I've used them for catered affairs too and they rock that world just as well as they do home events. They do not disappoint and you will not regret using them. read more

Let me start by saying that this review is loooong overdue. My wife and I chose Preferred Sonoma Caterers to cater our wedding that was almost two years ago, and it was one of the best decision we made for that day. Amber is amazing. She was set and ready to go, and provided us with all necessary materials allowing us to make the best decisions for our wedding. Linen and chair samples were available, and she assured us that everything on our special day would be taken care of. The conversation about our southern styled vision set in the redwoods of Sebastopol brought out Amber's creativity. Her vision: Southern cooking with a Sonoma County twist. This got our mouths watering. It was clear that it was a perfect match when we arrived for our food tasting a month later. Pulled pork, white cheddar mac and cheese, jambalaya, an heirloom tomato salad, caesar salad, grilled veggies, and an epic cheese plate...it's making my mouth water just writing about it. It was one of the easiest decisions for our wedding. We knew that Preferred Sonoma Caterers was the best decision for us. They completely delivered on our wedding day and everything went by without a hitch. The table settings looked spectacular, the servers were friendly, and the food was to die for. All our guest were impressed! Many expressed that the meal Amber and her crew provided them was the best meal they had ever had at a wedding. It's still something that my wife and I think about. One of these days, we'll be reaching out to them to recreate our meal because it truly was a memorable one. I highly recommend Preferred Sonoma Caterers. They will have everything that you may need for your wedding or special event. The service that you will experience will be phenomenal. You will remember how well this company treated you. PSC also catered my younger brother's wedding and that too was a great experience. Please check out the pictures I've posted. It's a small glimpse at what they can do for you. read more

I know people say this all the time but I wish I could give this company more than 5 stars!!! They just catered our wedding with 81 guests on October 22 @ Flying Cloud Farms in Petaluma and it was perfect. We live in Las Vegas so everything had to be done over the phone or via email. Luckily Amber took the time to get to know us and put together an amazing menu for us with very little input on our end. It was like she knew us for years!! We were able to head up to Petaluma in March and Amber put together a tasting for us to make sure it was the menu we wanted to roll with. Everything was killer!!!!! We were so excited to serve that menu to our guests. The menu consisted of a bounty display that had an assortment of cheese, crackers, breads, and fruit from the area. Also we had a welcome bar with mango tea, lemonade, and infused water. For dinner we started with an Apple Waldorf Salad, along with an artisan bread basket and marinated olive plates. The main course consisted of Braised Beef Short Ribs, Lemon and Rosemary Roasted Chicken, White Cheddar Mac & Cheese, Buttermilk Mashed Yukon Golds, Roasted Asparagus w/ Red and Yellow Peppers. There was also coffee service at the end of the meal as well. (On a side note, we had a groomsman that has a very severe nut allergy and mentioned it to one server and within a minute she went back to the kitchen and prepared a single salad, which was amazing!!!) We had 9 guest tables and a large head table set up for the wedding and decided to serve the meal family style, which turned out awesome!! Amber assured us that no one would go hungry and that was the truth! Many of our guests were raving about the quality of the food served. I heard the most feedback about the Spare Ribs and the Mashed Potatoes (everything was outstanding but those were my favorite as well). The next day I had many guests tell us that that was by far the best food they have ever had at a wedding!!! The service provided by all of the staff was top notch, all of tables had their food very fast. It had to be under 2 minutes. After the food was dropped off all of the staff walked around making sure everyone had wine and made sure all tables were happy. They paid extra attention to the head table which we really appreciated. I know there was only a handful of staff on hand but it seemed like there were 50 people due to how quick and efficient everyone was. After dinner the staff made sure I was never empty-handed. They would never interrupt while I was talking to someone but they always stopped by to see if they could get me something to drink. The bar-tending staff also did a great job keeping up with the drinkers that we had at our party, which was greatly appreciated!! Rewind to the beginning of the day, before our ceremony. The groomsmen and I were getting ready, having a couple beers when we noticed the boutonnieres in a bag. None of use had the slightest idea of how you are supposed to pin those on a suit without mangling them. This is when I yelled "anyone know how to pin these on?" We had three of the caterers from Preferred Sonoma run to our aid!!! Talk about service!!! I couldn't say enough good things about this company and would recommend them to anyone. read more

Sonoma Preferred Caterers We have used PSC for parties for several years but this Covid-19 year has expanded our appreciation of their services. Last Christmas we ordered their Prime Rib Christmas dinner so that I could stay out of the grocery store, and support local business. Everything about that order made my life easier. Pick-up was so well organized, the cooking instructions were perfect (they even included a meat thermometer to make sure our Prime Rib was properly cooked) and the food was outstanding. The meal was such a huge hit that I checked their website for Easter. I ordered the Easter brunch and it was just as wonderful as our Christmas dinner. Preferred caterers recently did my very small, weekend destination wedding. They did an outstanding job! They exceeded my expectations in every way. From the planning stages with Karen, to the actual night of the event everyone was was thoughtful and lovely. The food was outstanding and the buffet portions were huge, enough to serve our guests lunch the next day! The real star was Ann, who was our server at our event. She really went above and beyond, and did everything she could to make the day go smoothly, and treated me like a princess. All of my guested raved about her and the food too. I wasn't expecting that level of service from the caterer. I highly recommend these guys, whether your event is tiny and intimate or large. Thanks Sonoma Preferred! read more

Preferred Sonoma Caterers catered our wedding, and we're so pleased with our experience with AnnieLaurie, Karen, and the team! Since many of our guests would be from out-of-state, we really wanted to showcase fresh, local California cuisine, while making sure that no one would leave the wedding hungry. They came as a recommended caterer from both our venue and our wedding planner, and we are thrilled that we went with them! During our first phone interview with the team, my fiancé at-the-time and I were impressed by their professionalism and curiosity about our preferences (previous caterers we'd spoken to seemed a lot less concerned about our preferences, either because they couldn't accommodate a variety of options or they didn't care). At our tasting, we were impressed with the presentation, freshness, and care put into each of the dishes, and we knew we'd found our caterers! During the wedding processes, the PSC team was incredibly flexible and responsive to our several rounds of menu changes and rental changes (they handled our rentals for us, as an extra bonus). On the day-of, AnnieLaurie and her team executed a beautiful meal, wonderful bar, and all-around exceptional wedding experience for us and all of our guests! AnnieLaurie and her staff on-site were simply AMAZING. AnnieLaurie was SO HELPFUL throughout the day, checking in with us regularly and even offering to help when I needed to fit in a quick bustle minutes before cocktail hour ended. My husband and I unfortunately missed cocktail hour due to photos, but AnnieLaurie left us a plate of the different appetizers AND got us cocktails so that we could get some nourishment in before dinner :) She made sure we got our food first and that we always had enough water and alcohol, and even helped keep us on schedule. Even though many couples say they end up starving at their wedding, AnnieLaurie and her staff made sure we were well-taken care of! They not only extended this graciousness to my husband and I, but to all of our guests as well! All of the guests were SO IMPRESSED with the PSC team's professionalism and attentiveness, and everyone RAVED about the food (ESPECIALLY THE LAMB LOLLIPOP APPETIZERS). We are SO pleased with our experience with PSC! They are such a joy to work with and go above and beyond in ensuring the success of your event. We are very much looking forward to working with them again in the future! read more

Holy amazing! If I could give Preferred Sonoma more stars I would. These are the guys that you want to trust to handle your wedding day. Seriously! My husband and I got married in Yosemite but we wanted something for friends and family as well. So we decided to hold a reception in Bodega Bay at the Secret Gardens. We immediately wanted a company who had experience at the gardens since it can be tricky to get to. Preferred Sonoma was the way to go. These guys have it down! They were helpful in choosing our menu (Amber is a genius with food!) and answered all of our questions and concerns up to the very last days before the reception. Edie (the woman who is in charge of emails) is hands down the best communicator we have come across. She is helpful, doesn't push any extra costs on us, and is very prompt in her responses back. She sent us multiple quotes as we added and eliminated things without any hesitation. The day of the reception, the team got to the gardens right on time and began setting up immediately. Amber handled everything and made our day so smooth and worry free. The captain made me a plate to eat (it's hard to remember when you want to talk to everyone!) and even packed us extra food at the end of the night. The staff was so friendly and accommodating to all of our guests. The food. My god, the food! We had the bounty harvest with cheese and fruits which was a hit! Everyone loved it and the caterers left the table out for almost the whole night so guests could nibble on it. For our main course we had chicken and mushroom kebabs, trip tip, macaroni and cheese (the best thing I have ever eaten) and grilled veggies. We had two different types of salad and they even baked us individual pies for dessert! We had a s'mores bar with different types of chocolate and guests just couldn't get enough! At the end of the night, the team broke down everything so quickly and efficiently and let my husband and I enjoy the rest of the night. Thank you Edie and Amber so much for all of your hard work. You all are masters at your craft! read more

Preferred Sonoma did an amazing job catering my wedding on October 30, 2022 at the Bodega Bay Secret Gardens. All of my guests were obsessed with the food! The hors d'oeuvre selections, entrees and cheesecake martini desserts were such a hit! The batched cocktails were also incredible, all of the guests enjoyed the food and drink offerings. The staff was incredibly friendly, and on top of their duties. Big THANK YOU to AnnieLaurie for being so responsive throughout the planning process and exceptional the day-of! Highly recommend Preferred Sonoma Caterers! read more
