I brought my 2006 Honda Accord 5 speed to Precision last week, after two failed attempts for resolution (both with Honda dealerships). The issue seems to be with the gears and shifting into 3rd, first time this is happening to me after 133k miles. They could not replicate the issue, but are digging into a resolution and communicating with me openly and honestly. Both Honda dealerships gave up after they could not replicate the issue, despite me saying that the issue was sporadic. I am impressed that Precision Auto is taking more responsibility for a solution to an issue with a product that they did not build, than has Honda. Interesting! They genuinely care about their customers and strive to give the best possible service to each and every client. Just relocated to MD from MA and needed to get a car inspection. I found Precision by doing a search for nearby auto centers. Their service was very professional, the auto center is very clean, so much that you forget where you are. You don't even hear the noise that usually comes from working on cars. Same as was mentioned in other reviews - service takes too long to wait so a shuttle is provided. I would definitely visit Precision again for major issues; however, for routine things like an oil change, it would be more convenient to have it done where I can wait for my car and don't need an appointment. I contacted this shop asking for a quote to replace rear brake pads and rotors, as my dealership said they were very low. They refused to provide a quote, and instead required that they do their own inspection before offering a price. Their inspection was $76 but would be waived if they did the brake work themselves. I had already received a quote for another shop of $430, but since Precision is closer to me I figured I'd let them do the job. After the inspection, they told me that, yes, the brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced (as I already knew) and they gave me a price of $680, $250 more than than the other shop, and even $80 more than the dealership! Needless to say, I did not want to pay them an extra $250, so I took my car back, but they wouldn't refund my $76 inspection fee, so in the end I wasted my time and money for them to tell me exactly what I already knew. If they had just told me the price of the work I requested in advance (which they refused to do) all of this could have been avoided. read more

My first experience with Precision Auto in Montgomery Village was really good! I was assisted no more then 2 minutes from the time I stepped into the shop and the person who helped me (can't remember his name now...sorry) was super helpful and patient. I went in for an oil change and it took less then an hour to complete. When it came time to pay, I had purchased a Groupon and found a Yelp offer; both were accepted with no issue. This shop reminded me of the mechanic I had when I was back in New York, which is two thumbs up for me. I'll definitely be going back there for any of my auto care needs, no doubt! read more

These guys are great, friendly, welcoming, fair and they do great work. I've always been welcomes with a smile and the personal touch. They've installed multiple sets of tires for me from TireRack and are the only shop that has ever mounted tires for me without causing any damage to the car's wheels. Rental cars available on site are great, you get a nice texted PDF report of all your cars systems and statuses. First class for sure. read more

I hired Precision Auto to look at a used car I was considering buying from a nearby dealership. From start to finish, A CLASS ACT - so professional and so adept. Scheduling, notifications, the Inspection Report, and invoice are all sent virtually. I have written positive reviews for this shop before, but they have once again proven themselves to me and I felt the need to come one here and share this story. I have been going to Precision Auto for years now and have never once had a problem with them. This time I had gotten in an accident in Rockville and instead of spending the extra money to get my car towed there I got it towed to a place closer by that was recommended by AAA. Once I got there the people were friendly enough at first when they thought I was going through my insurance to get my car fixed. They gave me a quote to fix my car at a little over $3000 and it wouldnt be ready for like 5 days. This seemed a little high to me and once I found out my insurance wouldnt cover it I decided to get a second opinion. I told Andy over at the shop what happened and then emailed him the quote with pictures to look at. He graciously took a look at them and that day got back to me informing me that he felt like some of their pricing seemed a bit off, but he couldn't tell for sure unless he saw the car. Once I told the other shop that the insurance company wasnt going to pay and I wanted another quote their tone changed and they said the first quote was high because they thought the insurance company was going to pay. When I told them I still wanted to get another quote but would let them give me a real quote this time, they turned mean and refused to even talk to me. So I had my car sent over to Precision Auto where they took a look at and saw that it wasnt as bad as I was originally told. In the end they were able to fix it in a day and it only cost me $800. PRECISION AUTO SAVED ME $2,200 OF MY OWN HARD EARNED CASH BECAUSE THEY ARE TRUSTWORTHY AND HONEST. If you need work done no matter where you are go to them. read more

My Tire Pressure light came during a road trip over the holidays. While driving past Precision Auto I decided to swing by to see if they could assist. Brinda was quick to help me and checked the pressure on all my tires. Afterwards, she filled each tire to the appropriate PSI. Additionally she took the time to assess each tire, the wear& tear and explained the additional services available to Precision Auto. Her approach was not to sell me on their services but rather educational and walking me through her knowledge and the knowledge of Precision Auto. Nice, polished, personable people. I went to them a few years ago and they were unable to repair shaky brakes on my vehicle. They tried several times, replacing the rotors more than once, but they couldn't get it right. I think they had my vehicle 3 times over the course of a month. They tried to pass it off as okay each time, but it wasn't fixed. I went on 3 or 4 test drives with Andy (manager) and Bud (owner). I would take it up to 60 miles per hour, hit the brakes and show the wobble. They would shrug and work on it again. They obviously didn't test-drive it sufficiently, in spite of my explicit instructions that the problem is worst when driving fast. It was very inconvenient for me, but they were nice and kept at it. Along the way they damaged my rims (I didn't know this and they admitted it and said they would fix it at no cost to me, I was impressed by their honesty). Well, in the end, they were unable to repair the brakes. They did make the brakes better, but they were not right. Bud (owner) said they couldn't spend any more time on me, removed the parts they installed and returned my money. I would guess Bud was pretty frustrated but he was totally courteous. I wasn't thrilled at all about the time I wasted, and I wondered what the heck was wrong with the brakes, but I respected the business decision. We parted ways. I was worried my brakes would never get fixed. I thought I had a genuine lemon, or some rare defect. I took the vehicle elsewhere and got it repaired. It appears Precision was only replacing the rotors and not the pads. This, I have learned, is a fairly elementary mistake. I got my brakes fixed at Garage X and all has been good. In all, their lack of quality control (testing after repair) and general knowledge of brake repairs cost me a lot of time. I recently considered giving them another chance, because they were courteous and professional (and convenient for me), however after speaking with them in person, I learned that they may to be as professional as I thought. read more

Very bad and unprofessional customer service. Bud and Brenda refuse to provide a neat copy of MD inspection report, they just made a very bad photocopy that cut the lower left part of the report. I feel something dishonest is going on. They have strong discrimination against Asian. I do not recommend anyone to visit this store. read more

I prefer to patronize family-owned places that take pride in their work. I took a car to Precision Auto for Maryland state inspection, and then a detailing job a week later. Their shop is spotless, a good sign of the care with which they do work. They were straight-up with me about the inspection and resolving items needed to pass. Took the time to point out things to me while the car was on the lift. The detailing work was excellent. Memo, the fellow who did the detailing, seems like a perfectionist who loves to make cars look good. You can find cheaper detailing service, but I don't know if it would be as good. Overall, everybody there is very friendly and professional, even "old school" (they addressed me with the honorific "Mister"). I will be taking my cars there for service in the future. read more

I took my car here last month for the Maryland vehicle safety inspection. It is a bit pricier than some other options. However, I do appreciate the pick up/drop off service they offer. If you bring your car there they can drop you off and pick you up while your car is in the shop. They also provided a clear and detailed summary of the issues that needed attention. I was not spoken down to or made to feel like I don't understand how cars work. The one issue I would have is that they only use parts they purchase. You can't purchase your own parts and bring them in for them to install. I tend to prefer buying the parts myself if I can to save some money. I do recommend them and will probably be back for future service. read more

I took two cars to Precision Auto for detailing service and was very pleased with the results. Both cars were beautiful and meticulously cleaned, all the crevices, seams and gutters looked like new, and both smelled clean and fresh. It was like getting a new car! I suggest having this done if you are selling a car, you'll get an extra grand for certain. The gentleman that did the majority of the detailing, Memo, is very thorough and knows his cars and the ins and outs of different makes and models. I believe he said he's been doing this for 20 years, and the results would reflect that level of experience. Memo is very friendly and professional and I will most certainly bring my cars to him again for detailing. I'm not one to normally go online and write reviews but the service I received from Precision Auto I felt warranted it. Recently I read reviews for some apartments in Germantown and recall that positive reviews were met with skepticism that the author(s) were from the staff and owners. I can tell you this is not the case with this review. If you feel the need to verify, stop by the shop and speak with anybody in their office, you'll surely notice the same friendliness, professionalism, and cleanliness of the shop as a positive reflection of the overall experience of the shop. I was so impressed with the overall shop that I will keep them in mind for auto repairs (here's hoping I don't need any) and service. Called for a simple oil change price quote, and they said I had to drop it off the whole day for them to appraise it. Then my friend called for a simple work quote and got the same response. Don't call here about getting a price for service unless you're prepared to give them all your personal information and VIN number to get that information. I called to find out how much they would charge to replace my battery. Gave them the make, model and year which is enough information, but they refused to tell me how much unless I gave them my name, address, phone and VIN number. Said their software wouldn't give them the information without all my information. I just wanted a price so I would know whether or not to go there. In this modern era personal information is NOT given out unless I'm going to be a customer there. I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

This is a really great place to get your auto repairs done. Simple price comparison: MD State inspection here costs $89 - Honda Dealer $150!! Another thing is that they are honest. Honda did my inspection and then said I need 400 dollars to have my rotors resurfaced otherwise I would fail my inspection. I new better, so I blew them off. Came to Precision and got a simple pass with no issues - because there were none in the first place! Great place - highly recommended. read more

I scheduled an appointment at Precision Auto Services for a brake service for my vehicle. I asked them to replace my front rotors and pads, and they offered a brake inspection that I didn't need. I scheduled the appointment anyway, and later that day, I discovered two rotors and two pads in my garage that fit my vehicle's specs. I called Precision back to inform them that I had the parts available for the front axel brakes. They refused to use them, citing "company policy." As anyone familiar with this industry knows, "Company Policy" in this context is just code for "We want to milk you by overcharging for parts that you can buy for less than half price." That practice is as familiar as the sunrise for many people, and Precision is by no means unique in the vehicle service market in that regard, but I thought everyone should know: find an honest shop that will deal with you and won't rip you off. read more

My wife has been going to Precision for more than a decade. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and always very helpful. They do a wonderful job of communicating any issues with your vehicle and never use high pressure sales tactics to sell you a service you aren't comfortable paying for at the time. One of their newest features, the vehicle health report, is fantastic and does a great job of showing you exactly what work your car may need - pictures included! Metro area from the Midwest, and it's been my experience that I should expect to tack a additional $100 or more to every estimate I've received for work in this area, and I should expect that customer service will be average, at best.
