Update! Take your business elsewhere--you've been warned. I am appalled by the dishonesty and lack…read moreof accountability. My car app showed that the vehicle remained parked in the same spot for three hours. During that time, no one opened or closed the hood, turned the ignition on or off, or opened and shut the doors. Yet I was called and told that the car was ready for pickup, only to be told afterward that the engine warning light can only be cleared at the dealership. I took my car to another local auto repair shop, got a free scan, and they were able to pinpoint a loose connection and fix the problem. This level of service and disregard for their customers time, energy, and money, is completely unacceptable. Run! (Photos for reference) Background- So I took my car for an oil change (super expensive!) last Friday and immediately, I too, had the engine light come on as I was driving it out the parking lot and didn't think much of it and thought it will reset. The light persisted throughout the weekend and Monday after work, took it back in. I was asked to leave my car there so they can take a look at it. So here I am without my car and need to get to work. I have a bad feeling about this reading some of the other people's negative experiences on here. Scott's (and they also own Carl's) staff is already trying to deny that they did something so I will update this post with the outcome of the situation.

My "repair" took weeks longer than promised, cost way more than quoted, and the car came back with NEW problems it didn't have before. When I pointed this out, they shrugged it off and tried to upsell me on even more repairs. The shop itself is a mess--looks like no one there has cared in years. Phones go unanswered, no one knows what's going on, and accountability is nonexistent. I wouldn't trust these people to check tire pressure, let alone touch a transmission. Save yourself the headache. Go literally anywhere else. Hopefully this shop can serve the city better when it gets turned into a parking lot.

I have had at least 3 different cars serviced at Lowetech going back six years. They were…read morerecommended by a friend because of their honesty. I am not a mechanic, but here is why I recommend Lowetech to ALL of my friends without reservation. I took my car for an oil change (at one of the chain oil change places) and they gave me the usual laundry list of services my car needed. A couple of them seemed fairly serious, so I took it in to Lowetech and said, "The oil change place said I need this, and you guys don't charge as much as they do. I need to get this done." Dan laughed and said, "We'll check it and see." They checked and said there was no problem with my car. I walked in, ready to pay, and they said, "No issues here. No charge". I got my car hung up on a driveway leaving a driveway with a drop off I did not see. Had to have a tow truck lift me off the curb so I was concerned about damage under my car. Took it to Lowetech and they put it up on the lift, checked it, said "No issues and no charge." Last story. I had a Chevy Malibu with a leaking radiator. I tried to pour sealant in to fix it without reading/understanding the very clear instructions, "Do not use this product if you fill your radiator from the overflow tank." Needless to say, I caused some damage to my car. Lowetech quoted me a price and went to work. Short version: one problem led to another on my car, and it took much longer to work on/fix than expected. I was prepared to pay MUCH more in labor charges, but they honored their original price. The only reference I have for price/value is what the oil change places, and dealership quote me (when I go in for recall work). Lowetech is always WAY cheaper. But the most important thing to me is integrity. So what if they are $50 cheaper than the place down the street if they are telling me/charging me for services I don't need. The Lowetech guys are men of integrity. I will continue to take my cars and send my friends there, gladly associating my name with their work.
