He then quoted me another $500 to repair the axle and coolant hose (about $200 in parts, with $300 in labor). However, he only replaced the alternator and belt before disappearing, saying he would not be able to return until he sorted out his new work schedule. After a brief apology by text, he stopped responding entirely. I had no choice but to take my vehicle to another mechanic, where I paid an additional $900. The second mechanic confirmed that the oil change and engine flush I had paid for in July were never done, which is why the car broke down originally. The serpentine belt installed was too tight as well. The new shop also properly repaired the axle and coolant hose. Overall, I was left out of pocket significantly more than necessary, with incomplete work, misrepresented services, and a lack of reliability.

I specifically asked if he could work on these type of motors and he responded he could. Yesterday about 1:30PM I received a text he planned on coming to my home at 3:00PM. I called him and we talked a little more, and I decided to let him come out and "diagnose" the issue. This included a compression check on the cylinders for $125.00. He arrived on-time...texted me...and left 3 minutes later to go to the bathroom. He went all the way to Haskell and I-75 when there was an Exxon station 1/4 of a mile away. He finally arrived at 3:50. To start, he was pretty rude. He looked under the hood and said, "You're missing hold-down brackets on your valve covers." He went on to state he had a 1990 Chevy and this was how he knew he was correct. There were never "hold-down" brackets on a 1969 Oldsmobile. He then proceeded to tell me I had an oil leak, which was dried oil. He then asked for a $125.00 cash payment, before running a compression check. He never told me he only accepted cash. He said, "You didn't ask." I am not a mind reader. Cash is fine if I know this is the accepted and only form of payment. Needless to say, I sent him on this way.
