I met the folks a Lowetech, by chance. My neighbor was getting his Chevy Truck repaired. I asked who he took it to and if he liked them. Decided to give them a try. Started with my two Toyota minivans 2000 & 2006, and then my daughter's 2003 CRV. Next my daughter's 2015 Kia Soul. Tom and Tim, mechanics are solid and going nowhere. (In a good way). You get friendly dependable , knowledgeable and honest assessment, with timely repair, every time. Suspension, alignment, door handles, A/C, emissions... I have had at least 3 different cars serviced at Lowetech going back six years. They were recommended by a friend because of their honesty. I am not a mechanic, but here is why I recommend Lowetech to ALL of my friends without reservation. I took my car for an oil change (at one of the chain oil change places) and they gave me the usual laundry list of services my car needed. A couple of them seemed fairly serious, so I took it in to Lowetech and said, "The oil change place said I need this, and you guys don't charge as much as they do. I need to get this done." Dan laughed and said, "We'll check it and see." They checked and said there was no problem with my car. I walked in, ready to pay, and they said, "No issues here. No charge". I got my car hung up on a driveway leaving a driveway with a drop off I did not see. Had to have a tow truck lift me off the curb so I was concerned about damage under my car. Took it to Lowetech and they put it up on the lift, checked it, said "No issues and no charge." Last story. I had a Chevy Malibu with a leaking radiator. I tried to pour sealant in to fix it without reading/understanding the very clear instructions, "Do not use this product if you fill your radiator from the overflow tank." Needless to say, I caused some damage to my car. Lowetech quoted me a price and went to work. Short version: one problem led to another on my car, and it took much longer to work on/fix than expected. I was prepared to pay MUCH more in labor charges, but they honored their original price. The only reference I have for price/value is what the oil change places, and dealership quote me (when I go in for recall work). Lowetech is always WAY cheaper. But the most important thing to me is integrity. So what if they are $50 cheaper than the place down the street if they are telling me/charging me for services I don't need. Tom and Tim are great guys . They know their job and go above and beyond . Very professional . I brought my Chevy 2017 Silverado crew cab in for an AC recharge and they immediately knew the problem before even looking at it they are up-to-date on recalls from all The auto makers and sure enough it was exactly how they said . Manufacture defect on the weld on my condenser which leaks they replaced it in a jippi .I went through my warranty with them and they took care of everything . I had to pay out-of-pocket what was not gonna get covered and in the end it did get covered and I didn't know that until Tom called me and said I was going to get reimbursed and I did . Honesty like that is unheard of . They are my go to guys and I will bring the company vehicles and my family vehicles to them forever if you want an honest mechanic who knows what he's doing look no further . read more

Honest, reasonably priced and super friendly! I was given a long laundry list by a dealership of repairs that were needed so I brought them the list to see what really needed to be done. They walked me through the list and taught me what the dealer was referring to for different items and how they were all perfectly fine. Highly recommend!! read more

Lowetech is the best when it comes to auto mechanics in Arlington! This shop is owned and run by three brothers (Lowe is their last name). I have never had a bad experience with them and they know all their customers by name. They never try to scam you or jack up prices to make more overhead and they will just flat out tell you like it is! They do everything except body work and paint. The labor is around $80 bucks an hour and they will always tell you how much it will be upfront so you are not surprised when you go to pick up your car. Response to owners: It is curious to me that you claim to be able to find me by name, and not even a full name. In a city like Arlington, that makes no sense. Additionally, I had service with you guys but once (though I have been in more times than that), as the impression you made was not a great one. As a fair individual, I give multiple chances. If the concern was service, I would test the service, not the product. I "appreciate" your attempt to simply discredit my review and not address me directly in your response. That speaks exactly to my point that you are not approachable and stuck in your ways. Much like the day I went in - it is not about the customer in front of you, rather, tenure and money. I'm telling you fellow Yelpers, you will likely get this treatment as well. By the way, the reason I updated it is because another reviewer addressed me. As someone who cares about updating Yelpers to poor business practice, I tend to spend time on Yelp in general. When I write my reviews I tend to use the most direct and informative language. Some resort to about 4 or 5 sentences. Take from that what you wish. I, having returned one before and 2 times since this review and having a similar experience to my initial review, stand by it. You will find it below: LoweTech was the first place I took my car in Arlington in January 2015 and they completed the job. They are closed all weekend, which caused me to be without a car longer than expected, but that's understandable and I knew that going in. Just expect it. I've personally only met 2 of the brothers. One, a larger gentleman with a little longer hair, has his good days and bad days it seems. He certainly has some customer service skills. The thinner, somewhat older looking brother (who did the work on my car) acted as if I was a burden by being there. The price was fair, but when I asked questions about the work to be done the issue with the vehicle was not really explained, and any questions I had were responded to with one two word answers. I don't feel they did it intentionally, however I left without a full understanding of why the damage had occurred, what could be done to prevent it, or how to tell if any other issues were present. They seemed honest, and it was affordable. However, I don't think they have very good human relations skills, and I would have loved to have known what exactly was wrong with my car and how it occurred. Short of being rude myself, I did everything I could to pull it out of them. Where they are located is loaded with mechanics (just down the street is a much better shop - see my other reviews) so you would think they would try to do something to set themselves apart from the places around d them by offering a more customer friendly experience. read more

I was referred to Lowetech by a friend. I had several issues on my 2004 Pathfinder. I debated on which I would do first, the clutch that was 99% gone or the misfire from the ignition coils. I had called around to several shops and was requesting a "guestimate" on the cost of the clutch. He said it would probably be around $950 but depending on the damage it would be more. I figured it would be between $950 and $1200 and he agreed. The only place that would do this over the phone was Lowetech. I dropped my car off the night before and explained to Tim hat I had been informed that it was the clutch and then I mentioned that I had taken my car to Oreillys when the check engine light had been on. I had already replaced 2 ignition coils and Oreillys meter indicated that I needed to replace the other 4. One ignition coil was about $70 at Oriellys. I ask Tim if he could check that as well but I was not able to get both done at this time. I got a call the next day at 830am and he told me that it was the clutch and the other problem was not a ignition coil but a ignition connector. He said it would be about $100 more to fix that and I said go ahead, He then called back and stated I had a leak around the crank shaft valve and he could do that for approximately $100 more. I said go head. He called me later that day and went over everything. He was unable to replace the seal because of the location and the additional labor and time it would take to get to it. He then said he placed a sealer around that leak and then did a oil change and added an additive that would seal it from the inside. I was expecting to pay around $1300 and when I ask the cost he said $1105! I was very happy. I would highly recommend Lowetech to anyone that needs work done. They are very friendly, Tim explained everything one more time when I picked up the car and this will be the only mechanic that I will ever use again. read more

I'm gonna start off by saying that I am a very naive person when it comes to cars! I have been a loyal customer for the past 10 years! They always make me feel welcome and always greet me with smiles! I feel like I'm VIP as soon as I walk in doors! They have never taken advantage of me nor ever try to sell me something I didn't need! I've actually overheard them talking to a customer, while waiting on my car, referring them to someone else bc they offer a better service for what the customer was needing! This customer was also a female which really caught my attention! I was blown away by the concern for the customer over the benefit to the company! They could have easily taken her money and sent her on her way! However they chose the honest way of doing business and had this woman's best interest in mind! They told this woman that they could do job but they wouldn't feel 100% with the service they were able to provide. They felt she would be better off with another company they referred to her! First impressions: clean floors, no tools laying around, Dan, Tim and Tom have a lot of experience and take the time to answer your questions. They don't make you feel like an idiot and they don't blow smoke. When it comes to diagnosing a problem, they made sure I knew exactly what they were going to do, why they were doing it and how much it would cost. You can drop off your car at night after hours.
