cannot rave enough about this club!!! LOVE it so much and always take friends here to brag about how amazing this place is. unfortunately, the security on 9/23 left a bad taste in our mouths. one guy was policing the bathroom like crazy and knocking on stalls to get people to hurry up (they weren't taking long at all). when i needed a friend in the stall with me to help with a menstrual product, he made me go in alone and i almost fell over (i was partying on a saturday lol). idk if it was just a one off staff guy, but a lot of people were talking about it that night. hopefully this gets resolved, this is our fave spot and we don't want the stress! thanks for always being great read more

The line was ridiculous last night and after waiting in it reluctantly, we got to the front, my friend stepped 3 feet away to look at the hot dogs the vendor was serving and immediately stepped back and the bouncer told him to go to the back of the line because their policy is no one is allowed to leave the line and come back. Where is the sign that says that? And how does someone in your line of sight step away for 10 seconds and come back deserve to go wait in that long ass line to get Into a bar that isn't even at full capacity?! Pass! Rude staff. Just left this place on a Tuesday night and it was SLOW - 10 people in the bar tops. Waited 10 minutes until finally asking the bartender if he actually worked there. He was too busy flirting with two Barflys to care. He was then apoplectic rather than apologetic about the situation - evidently he wasn't trying to make money for the bar or himself. We tried Precinct out on Saturday night. This is a great bar with lots of friendly staff and patrons. Second floor, so there are stairs to climb. The venue has a large enclosed patio area, large dance area and lots of mingle space. We arrived around 8 and got right in. When we left at midnight there was a huge line of people waiting to get in as they had reached their capacity. We definitely will be back! read more

Three stars due to the food, I know it's not a restaurant but still make an effort. We Came here with my friend for an afternoon drink. The place was empty, which was great. We love the seating area by the windows. The bartender seemed bored but I guess that's because there was really nothing going on. We decided to get something to eat but we were quickly disappointed. We ordered tacos, quesadilla, and chips. The tacos and quesadilla were served cold, you could tell The kitchen made no effort to heat it up in the microwave. Great spot to watch drag race or see some of your favorite drag queens. I like that this place isn't overly packed, unlike some of the bars in WeHo. The vibe here is a lot more chill, which I appreciate. I've gotten to see some of my favorite queens perform, like Kimchi and Raja. I even saw Willam once just cruising around on a hoverboard and she called me daddy (l o l). Definitely worth checking it out if you're looking for more of a chill night! read more

Went there Saturday to meet up with a few friends to hang out. I used to like this place. It's different from weho. Crowds different but pretty friendly. But the worst thing about this place is the bartenders. There are not enough of them to make drinks for a large crowd and you have to wait a long time. When it was my turn to order a drink. I gave the bartender a $20 for my $11 drink and he kept the$9 change!! I did not say keep the change. So I stood there thinking he's a bit busy and he'll give me my change so I can tip him. But he just ignored me as I stood there and tend to other people trying to get their drinks. WTF?! I didn't want to make a scene and just left. I should've taken a picture of the bartender but he was the one serving drinks to the left end towards the patio section. Probably not going back to this bar. It's BS! Tip: Don't use cash when you come here. They might keep all the change thinking that's their tip. Best to charge it. read more

Party central weekends! HUGE club, great for large parties. Came on a Wednesday and it was dead, too big of space for DTLA more intimate Wednesdays. Looking forward to coming back for their Fridays Queen Kong or weekend parties. This place was bookmarked to check out ever since seeing crazy wrap around the building lines on weekends earlier last year. There is an entrance fee, and cost after a certain is more but I forgot how much....maybe $7+? Think Precinct is considered THE GAY CLUB experience for DTLA. I'm came here for the AIDS walk event, so it was closed to our party. I'm assuming the music that was playing was the standard, which was absolutely fabulous. It was a mixture of 90's and today's hits. The bar is located on the 2nd floor. The feel inside reminds me of the bars in New Orleans. There is an outside area that transition to the inside. It's pretty spacious with approximately 5 areas to move around from. Overall, I like the vibe and would come back here for a fun night with the girls. read more

So here we are, my first time at a gay bar/club. as a straight guy I am totally open about it and have dozens of close friends from the LGBT community, I just never had the chance to go to the clubs with them. This place was a decent experience. waiters and bartenders walking around in thongs are definitely out of the ordinary for me, but hey who's to judge if a "straight" club can have women walking around topless, so be it! Anywho, cover is $5. Not sure why because the drinks are ridiculously overpriced. I ordered a jack and coke for $11, not crazy but still a bit much . . . then a margarita that had no alcohol whatsoever was $20 . . . really? a friend of mine ordered two vodka tonics that came to $28 . . .jeeze then we did those shots from the test tubes for $4 each, and we tasted nothing but juice, no alcohol. at least at Howl at the Moon you get a syringe filled with a jello shot and definitely taste the alcohol and you get an awesome waitress that feeds it to you and has fun with the whipped cream and cherry. the music was great though, felt like a Vegas club but the crowd was weird. . . .the "chill" rooms or patios are great for relaxing a bit or just getting away from the dance floor. and the dance area is big enough but half the people just stand there and awkwardly stare at one another or do nothing . . really? get away from the floor if you aren't dancing! but those we did encounter were super nice and friendly so it wasnt a bad crowd there was a drag show? i know what drag is but not sure if this is considered a drag show that went on, that was pretty fun to watch so overall a decent experience for a straight guy and I would not mind returning read more

The grand opening was not very well planned at all!! Got here at 10:50pm and waited in line for 30min and they were out of change and alcohol....I mean wow you know that over 250 people are coming and you weren't prepared at all. Also your security guards didn't even have walkies....if there was a fight it would be very bad. The venue is stuffy inside, needs big fans or better air flow to help breathing. I don't like smelling every guy in the club. Ewwww. oh and I almost forgot that your address is wrong on fb and google. It takes u to 7th Street not 4th and broadway....should look into that. Didn't even get a drink since the bartenders were rude and unhelpful. No idea of the drink price. Will maybe go back after they get ur shit together. Came here with my boyfriend and his girls. We really all had great time. Living out west we dont make it downtown too often, but glad we have a spot that felt quickly like home. I brought a large group of friends. We had a $200 Bar tab. Signed the receipt at 1:50am - a few minutes after the lights went up for last call. At 1:52am I had to use the bathroom and the friendly bouncer told me all restrooms were closed. I had to pee in the street at 2:10am. This is customer service. I did love this place. My friends love this place so when visiting them from South FL I was happy to join them. The venue is great and I so wanted to love it however once we got there I wanted to leave as soon as possible. Unfortunately there is a bartender with a horrible attitude and treats customers horribly. It's unbelievable and unacceptable. I didn't get his name but he was very tall, wore a baseball cap, tank top and had a British accent. He was so rude, I couldn't believe it honestly. I'm going to give Precinct in downtown LA five stars! It's a great gay bar / club / venue that seems to attract a diverse crowd! There seems to be little to no (WEHO) attitude which creates a great atmosphere... everyone seems to fit in and is having a good time. Music is great, shows are fun and the drinks are great! Happy hour during the week is a bit slow, but nice place to meet some friends after work. My only criticisms would be the odd layout of the place and the area where the windows are, seem to be quite bright... needs to be a little darker (blue neon light is not flattering). My first time dropping by was during the Sunday Beer Bust. There was yet another leather/fetish gear event happening. Half of the guys hanging out in the patio area were sporting fetish dog masks and taking pictures in a dog house display. In the past, I'd find it bizarre, but I've long since been desensitized to the oddities in LA's gay bars. The guys hanging out on the patio were noticeably older and very standoffish. Me and my friend went to find a dark corner inside to sip our beer. While there, we discreetly watched one old gay guy flog another old gay guy who was tied up. You can expect almost anything in LA's gay leather bars, to be honest. I was just surprised that all of this was going on before 5pm. The actual bar space is impressive and much larger than it appears from the outside. It's really cool to have a gay bar like this in DTLA. Redline is pretty trendy, and the New Jalisco might be too "hole in the wall" and niche for some folks' taste. I got to come back at night on a different day, I imagine DTLA would bring out a fun diverse crowd to a large gay bar like Precinct. read more

I loved this bar till my horrible experience last night 1/6/18 . My partner of one year and I where celebrating our first date anniversary ( yes we had our first date at the precinct ) so we invited a few friends for a fun night out. Later on in the night the bar manager decided to tell us to leave due to a previous failed business transaction with a previous tenant who so happens to be a bar back there . I am very confused over it since it's a place of business to the public . I started going to this bar when it just opened and without causing any valuable reason the manager took it upon himself to make it personal by throwing me in my party out of the bar. This is completely discriminating. I've been a healthcare professional serving the gay community and to the HIV community for the last 8 years and this is the type of respects and professionalism we where given last night. I was invited to attend the brunch and show here. Found street parking (a miracle in its own right-lol) This place is a little hidden jewel. I ordered the bottomless mimosas and they were not short on the bottomless The bartender was really friendly and cute. The show was absolutely amazing and there were many performers just kicking ass with their show! They looked fabulous and clearly loved their developed and elaborate craft. The atmosphere was the bomb.com where everyone was there to have a great time and Precinct COMPLETELY delivered. Food was eh, okay, and did take quite a while to arrive, but the ambiance and personalities of the employees was excellent and worth the visit nd food wait by far. Prices not bad at all considering the amounts vendors are charging nowadays. I would HIGHLY recommend this location for a tourist, moms, friends, brides/grooms to be. Of all the gay bars in Los Angeles, I found myself at the gayest. It was a sweaty wonderland of fairies chain-smoking menthols and bears with the ears of a bunny. This bar is cool for a casual night out. There was a long line, but it moved fairly quickly. They did have a cover charge on Saturday of $5 (cash only) and an ATM available inside. I just think since there's a technology shift maybe they should be accepting card by now. There's a lot of seating but I wouldn't really say they have a patio (even though they had one section with lots of windows) and there's a lot of smokers, so makes it pretty stuffy with all the smoke. I'm a non-smoker so gave me a bit of a headache. Overall the workers there are friendly and they had someone walking around with shots available for purchase (which they did accept card for payment). It was pretty packed, so I'm guessing it's a go-to bar for many locals. One some nights they have drag queen shows, which I'm sure are fun nights to come for entertainment. And maybe they have other weekly events, but I'm not sure. They had a DJ and go go dancer men in the room where they have a stage and do the drag shows. It was fun, they played good music, and got to see lots of eye candy. On the downside they needed more air conditioning since it was so packed and gets hit quickly with all the dancing bodies. The drink prices were about average ($21 for two drinks). I must say though that after a double shot of tequila and a jack on ice, I was not buzzed at all. I'm not sure why the drinks weren't as strong as they should be (maybe they water down the liquor here). I'm not a heavy drinker nor a frequent drinker, but usually I feel the liquor kick in after one drink. Bartenders are great. They are attentive and really create a welcoming atmosphere. The performances were fantastic. Fat Slut is basically the only party that pulls me and my friends in. The problem I have is with the staff that ushers out the crowd at the end of the night. I fully understand that people need to move out of the club when the night ends. The problem I have is with staff yelling in patrons ears. My party was attempting to leave with a large crowd in front of us as a staff member yelled in our ears to leave. It's unfortunate that Precinct would happily accept money from patrons throughout the night and treat them so poorly as they left. Im actually very upset yesterday night I went there for my first time with 2 of my friends and I had just come from another bar las Perlas and as I was paying for my drink I used a 10 dollar bill they had given me from the previous bar . It was a super old bill and the bartender told me it was fake I was so embarrassed I even cried . I really thought las perlas had given me a fake bill but it turns out it was real . I went back and they passed the marker through it and it didn't turn black it was just a super old Bill . I've been a cashier for 4 years and before I tell a customer it's counterfeit I used multiple methods to make sure. I'm very upset and very embarrassed. I would be as upset if it was super busy and he didn't really have time to check but it was super slow there was only a few ppl . But I get it was a super old bill . After over ten visits, I can always expect a fun and queer filled night at this bar. I believe it is filling a major gap in LA gay culture; namely, a space for queer art, fashion and collaboration within the greater LA community. Often times, bars in WeHo have a type and mold and if you don't fit into that mold you're often left feeling excluded. Similarly, other bars like the Eagle are very much focused on only their subculture of gay men. That is to say, those bars are meant for those people and not as keen to queer space. Additionally, bars like Akbar are small and it's hard to have conversations since the music is on max volume. Essentially, the Precinct offers a queer friendly space for drag, music, art and just really cool vibes. It isn't an hook up spot like other bars so it's inviting to gay couples and folks who aren't going out to find trade necessarily. Given the current political climate and how these spaces are threatened, please please give this place a shot. Come on a night one of the Ru girls is performing and buy some of the local designers merch. Invest in our space before there aren't any left! read more

So if you get past the fact that you should probably come early on the weekends to avoid a ridiculously long line... The bar gets the job done. I usually come for their drag shows which have been great so far. Drinks can get a little pricey, so watch that. Also, make sure your FH isn't a drunk mess when you enter, or you'll end up having to resolve situations between her and some drunk guys. Aside from that, music is great to dance to and I believe they put out more go go dancers now who are pretty great to look at, from what I recall... Anyhow, if you ever have a chance to pass by, I would definitely check this spot out for a drink or two and a good dance on the weekend. read more

I went yesterday for the season premiere of rpdr and I went to get drinks. I was literally at the front leaning on the bar and the bartender helped two people behind me before assisting me. I don't know why they do this or why this happens but it really makes me not want to come back which sucks because I really like this bar but I feel like if you're not aggressive then you can totally get skipped and I'm not about to push through people and yell at the top of my lungs just to get some service. A gay bar in LA?! Yup! It's kind of like someone copied and pasted a bar from weho to LA.. I got the weho vibe when I came here, which was New Year's Eve. Located on an intersection above a food place.. Which is kind of weird for me lol no idea why.. Anyways this place isnt hard to miss, especially with the rainbow flag hanging from one of the Windows. So I get there around 9:30... And it takes me until 10 to get inside.. I guess this place was packed lol. Good news!!! If you have a backpack there's a coat check! THANK GOD! Plus it's only $2! So cheap! The guy who checked my backpack in was so nice :) So now for the environment. This place is kind of small.. To me lol. The bar is a typical bar: a square bar lol. Anyways. We show our IDs.... we go upstairs, to the entrance, a couple of patrons are in line, and some guy who works there tells us to move against the wall... sure no problem of course we do so, but his demeanor was pretty crappy and rude ... mind you there was like a total of 6 people including us ... then he says, You have cash?? It's 7 dollars to get in... I say yes, we have cash...again no problem, but his rude demeanor!! I procede to ask, can i poke my head in and look?
