This Chicken Berry Salad I ordered for lunch was amazing! So colorful and crunchy and sweet. I ordered the Raspberry Vinagrette on the side. The salad was full of green lettuce, strawberries, blueberries, carrots, chopped nuts, and cherry tomatoes, topped with two slices of bell pepper & hard-boiled eggs. The server was attentive without being overbearing and I could tell there were a lot of regulars here. I'll likely return next time I'm in Ada! read more

Great place for breakfast! We were in town for a wedding and the hotel recommended the Prairie Kitchen for breakfast. Service was excellent. I do not remember the name of the young man who was our waiter but he was great. Food delicious and ample portions. I love the coffee pot at the table. Bathrooms clean. Prices good. Busy place. Consistently mediocre food. Tonight was my worst experience in quite some time. I got the triple option and every part of it was beyond overcooked. The cheese had cooked out of the mozzarella sticks. 1/3 of the Texas toothpicks were too burned to eat. The chicken strips were tiny and cooked until they were dry and hard. The waiter took so long to check on us after we got our food that we were ready to leave by the time he came to see how our food was. He did offer to put another order in, but I didn't feel like waiting around for it. It will be a very long time before we eat here again. The inside is also not the cleanest. Walls and ledges could all use a good wipe down. Things need dusting. The decor has all been in there for years. The interior is overdue for an upgrade. read more

My husband and I just ate there for the first time and overall we're giving it a three. Our waitress, Maddie, was very nice and very helpful. Also, the interior of the restaurant itself seemed clean and it was cutely decorated. My husband got the club sandwich with french fries and he said his sandwich had a good flavor. He wasn't really pleased with the abundance of ham or the lack of abundance of ham, in his opinion, but he did say overall that he thought it had a good flavor. We both tasted the french fries and they were lukewarm and he felt like they had been under a heat lamp for a while. I got a smothered hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and pinto beans. My pinto beans were between a 3 1/2 and a four and had a decent flavor. Also, although the potatoes were instant potatoes, they really had a decent flavor to them too. However, my hamburger steak was so overcooked and tough that it not only didn't taste good, but was relatively hard to chew. You could see the black around the edges and it seemed to be virtually the same color on the inside as it was on the outside. I did share this with our waitress and she was great about it and took it back to the cooks and asked them to make me another one. She also talked about how charcoaled it was around the edges, but handled it very well and got it back to me quickly. The second one was definitely cooked better, tasted fresher, and didn't taste like it had been overcooked and sitting under a heat lamp for sometime. I don't know if it had been sitting under a heat lamp, however it tasted like that to me and I sent it back. I don't think I would ever order that again, even with the freshly cooked one, because it was so thin and just did not have a good flavor to it at all. This place had ok food. The service was bad. I guess he was the manager was rude after we couldn't get seated. We waited and no one greeted us. It was busy but no one even looked at us. One person in our party asked a server who was walking by how we get seated and she just looked at a piece of paper and said they were working off a list and walked away. It was on top of a partition and not easy to see. No sign, no instructions letting us know to place our name on the list. I would have left but everyone was hungry. I regret staying for just average food. All the locals who were greeted and treated much better can have this place. You get what you put out, this place put out bad vibes, unless you are a regular. Food was decent but nothing to write home about. However, we were served very quickly even with the diner at maximum seating capacity. Pancakes with blueberries were very tasty. The steak omelette seemed small for an omelette and the pieces of steak were just laid on top of the omelette and not cooked inside. This place will suffice if you're on the go and in a bit of a hurry. You won't be disappointed but then again you won't be clapping your hands and stomping your feet, either. read more

Prairie Kitchen. Where do I start? Well, I guess I should say that I have a dairy allergy and so I have trouble ordering food at restaurants. When I look at a menu I always pick out 4-5 things that I possibly could eat and WANT to eat and then ask questions. As you can assume, sometimes people are not as patient as they can be, and that kinda ruins the experience. So, I as usual I chose 4 things and went down the list with our waiter and as expected the first few things I could not eat. I finally ordered spaghetti and fries. (I know its a lot of carbs. Don't judge) We waited quite a long time and when my food came there was an army of flies that came with it. They buzzed us and landed on my food. I almost took my first bite when I discovered a LONG (like really long) CURLY BLACK HAIR in my pasta. We sent it back and when it returned, along side it was some toast. WITH BUTTER. Ummmm... HELLO? Then we asked them if it had butter, just to make sure. OBVIOUSLY it did. So then we asked if I could have bread without butter. They said yes. Before they left we remembered to ask about the ingredients of the bread. Our waitress went back and told me the staff said to tell her to say that it is "the same kind of bread you buy in the store". Now, I know for a fact that some bread has milk and some doesn't. So does that mean yes it has milk or no it doesn't??? After me and my food being bitten by a thousand flies a thousand times, the check came. I jumped up and practically ran to the door. I wanted a standard, Sunday brunchtime breakfast; in this area of Ada, OK, there's not much choice for similar fare (no IHOP, no Denny's, etc.) so this place gets crowded. I have high standards for breakfast items (see my Snooty Pig review!). Ordered the "Double" which is 2 eggs, 2 meat (bacon), 2 bread (biscuits w/gravy), and fruit. Biscuits were bland, not big & fluffy; inconsistently cooked. Gravy was bland & watery. Bacon was ok. Eggs were ordered "over" but came out too runny (not over enough). Cranberry juice tasted like watered down concentrate & wasn't very tart. Best part was the fruit bowl with fresh blueberries, sliced bananas & strawberries. Overall a mediocre, disappointing breakfast plate; I'm accustomed to much better quality. On the bright side, service was great! Hostess and waitress were very friendly and helpful; I can't blame them for the food. read more

This is one of the best places to eat in Ada by far. Service is great. The staff is friendly and quick to check on you or the fill your coffee. I've only been there to eat breakfast but every time I go through Ada I stopped there to have breakfast and every time the food has been phenomenal and the service has been great the restaurant has been clean and they're very affordable. We were in Ada visiting my sister-in-law. We hadn't had breakfast yet so we drove all over looking for a place to eat. This place was busy so we figured we would eat here. My husband and I both ordered the western omelet, he added jalapenos, they only put 2 jalapeno slices on his omelet and charged 75 cents extra. There was NO cheese on the omelet, I found out later you have to pay extra for it. Their hash browns were tasteless, the biscuits were doughy in parts, the gravy tasted like it was instant gravy. The coffee was pretty good as was the service. The prices are too high for the less than mediocre food you get. If this is the only restaurant open for breakfast in Ada, you are better off if you go to a fast food place or go out of town. I will never eat there again. read more

I give hats off to Erica, the server who waits on me each time I am there. Erica is always ready to find me a place as soon as I step inside. The order is taken and handled quickly and efficiently. Food is always good but in the evening it's like they cut down on how many eggs you get in your omelet so if you want breakfast do it in the morning. Service is always right on point. Food is decent, always comes out quick. It isn't your momma's home cooking, but it gets the job done. Never had a great steak here, but the omelets are pretty tasty. Decor is a little overbearing and has slightly racist caricatures of natives, but what do you expect for Oklahoma? All in all, pretty okay average food. You get what you pay for. read more
