This establishment is a must if you're in Ada It's clean and well decorated on the inside. The exterior is also well kept. It's a bit hidden behind the Hampton Inn but still easy enough to find. I had the 3 meat dinner plate with 2 orders of ribs and catfish, a side of baked beans and okra. The catfish was my honest favorite...but I may also be biased as I love fried catfish. So I was in town for a training and the instructors invited me and my buddy to eat. They said that Pig Skins BBQ was pretty good so decided to give it a try. Walked in and there were about 2 people other than my table in there it was extremely slow for dinner... red flag. Also didnt look very clean it was pretty dingy. Waitress came by and asked if we needed a minute I said yes and ordered a water with lemon. Looked over the menu and decided on the 3 meat lineman. Got sausage, 2 ribs, and brisket. For 21ish bucks. The Waitress took the order and a few minutes later it came out. Also forgot to add my 2 sides were French fries and hush puppies. Looked at the plate wasnt any thing special by far. Brisket was ok nothing to brag about. The sausage tasted like store bought sausage and the cheap brand eckrich sausage there was absolutely no snap to the sausage. The pork ribs were actually pretty decent. Hush puppies were good and the French fries were horrible. The French fries I have to give it to them they tried they were fresh cut fries but the seasoning and the greasy Ness killed it for me the fries were not crispy at all they needed to keep them in the fryer for a bit longer. All in all for the price it was ok would I go out of my way to come back NO. but in a pinch next to the hotel id probably come back if I was starving. Didn't finish the food and took a ribs home to me the ribs tasted better cold later on that night Oh and almost forgot! got up to take a call and slipped and almost busted my ass on some kind of food that was left on the floor. Been 2 time and service was good both times. Food was also very good and a large helping. If your hungry the have large serving so go hungry! Last time parking lot was almost empty which was shocking because it's good stuff so don't let that turn you around. My mother and I ate here, her ribs were really fatty , my fish was fresh and good the side salad was AWEFUL the lettuce was wilted and I didn't get it until almost halfway through our meal and we had to ask for it because the waitress was to busy talking and forgot it. The service wasn't very good. As she spent the entire time chatting it up with all the men in the room,( not taking orders it wasn't busy) we were the only 2 women customers there. My two meat combo with catfish and sausage was terrific, especially the fried okra that came on the side. Our waitress was super friendly and gave us some background information on the restaurant. A local bbq joint. Very casual inside. Some booths and table seating. Gail was a super nice waitress and she served everyone while we were there. I got the 2 meat entree with 2 sides. I went with her recommendation and got the sliced briskets and ribs. The briskets right away looked dry and tasted dry (we didn't really eat it). The ribs in contrast was super juicy and fell off the bones easily, delicious. For sides I got the sweet baked beans (taste perfect) and the jalapeño hush puppies which I didn't like. It was over fried and dry. My boyfriend got the hamburger which he liked. He got the baked potatoes which was alright and a side salad which was okay too. I also had some Texas toast with my meal which was too crispy and dry. We got the fried apple pie which was slightly burnt around the edges but the filling was really good. We asked for a side of ice cream but it was just a store bought individual packed ice cream cup. The reason for the 3 stars was because the food was hit and miss. Some good items and some not some good items. I wish I could rate the service separately because Gail was an excellent waitress who was attentive, friendly and took care of everyone even though she single-handedly served all the tables while we were there for lunch. Baked beans were ordinary, like Bush's brand. Coleslaw had a nice crispy snap to the cabbage chunks. Had a thick mayo dressing, virtually no run at all. More accomplished Cue reviewer's at some of the legendary Texas barbecue places have said it before: sides DO NOT count toward scoring BBQ joints. I mostly agree. Nothing special on sides here, but no stars lost for that minor omission ! Sauce choices are mild, which tasted to me like head country. Also spicy, very good flavor. And ghost pepper-- gird your loins (!), way too hot for me to withstand. TL/DR-- excellent pulled pork. Very good brisket. Bumped up a half star due to location. I found this place on Yelp prior to a work trip to Ada. It was a mixed bag - great atmosphere and local flavor in the dining room decorations but the food was below average. My two traveling companions and I arrived just before noon on a Saturday. We were pleasantly surprised to be seated immediately by a friendly server. Service throughout our visit was speedy and attentive. I ordered the rib dinner with jalapeno hush puppies and coleslaw. The ribs were disappointing. I prefer fall-off-the-bone ribs. These were on the stick-to-the-bone side. I respect some pitmasters' preference for this style. However, I always expect ribs to be smoky, and these were not. They also weren't seasoned. I tried using the regular and spicy BBQ sauce provided at the table to add some flavor, but they didn't help much. The only bite of smoke flavor was near the bone end of the rib. My coleslaw had an odd tasting dressing that was also gummy in texture. It was as if they added extra cornstarch to the coleslaw dressing to thicken it. The jalapeno hush puppies were what I expect from hush puppies - hot, fried balls of cornbread goodness. However, they barely had any heat to them. I could see specks of jalapeno in them, but the heat was not detectable to me. The Texas toast served with my rib dinner was buttered on both sides and came out toasted just right. Their Friday special meatloaf is amazing! I came here with a coworker for lunch & we were promptly seated. The waitress was very friendly & nice. We both ordered the meatloaf with fried okra & green beans. It seemed like no time & the food was at the table. This was such an unexpected large portion but so good! I had so much leftover I will be eating on this for days. The waitress also asked at the end of the meal if we wanted to go bbq sauce & she brought out two portion cups of the sauce. The friendly and helpful staff helped our visit over the top. The ribs were fall off the bone tender with a delicious smoke flavor. The sides of fired okra and fries were hot but very greasy. Maybe just skip the sides and just stick to the meat. The fired pies for dessert was also a must have. I'd definitely recommend the tender bbq and amazing fired pies. read more

I'm not one to leave a bad review but our experience was awful. There was only 2 tables and our table we barely got service the waitress never came and checked on our table. Then waited over 30 minutes for our food no big deal but when we received our food, we got one plate at a time and the last plate was a catfish dinner that was served about 10 to 15 minutes after everyone else finally got their plate when I asked what the holdup was the server said catfish takes the longest to make. Then our whole table didn't receive our sides of mac & cheese until we already had our ticket. Most of us at the table wasn't worried about it, but we had a toddler with us and that's all he wanted to eat so you can understand the frustration. Review based on 2 visits 1 week apart. On my first visit I tried the turkey and was disappointed. It was rather dry and didn't have much of a smoke flavor. I decided to give it a second try as the green beans and veggies were pretty good. Second visit I ordered ribs and found them edible. They were overcooked and a bit dry , however they weren't over smoky. Not going to win any taste tests but have a decent flavor. The green beans were delicious again. This is by far the best bbq I've had at a restaurant! I'm very picky because my husband smokes the best meat in this world so I rarely volunteer to eat bbq at a restaurant. We got the brisket, hot links, sausage, and ribs. Ribs and sausage were fantastic, the hot link could have been a little spicier but still had great flavor. Got the Linebacker - 2 meats, 2 sides. I got the ribs and the hot links. Both meats were good! No bbq sauce needed. Good thing, too. The sauce is not that great. They really need to step up their game on the sides, though. The fries were weak and the coleslaw was decent. I would rather have green beans and some mac and cheese. Just don't get the combo and you'll be good. Just get the meats. That's what you really want. However, I did pay for a meal, and was only satisfied with the main part of it. The fried okra was acceptable, but c'mon, how hard is it to put the frozen okra in a deep fryer. The french fries were cold, and most insulting was the "baked potato". it had obviously been nuked, and it was smaller than vital parts of the male anatomy. Wow, incredible lunch experience. This BBQ place is well worth the visit if you are in Ada, OK. I ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich Basket, which comes with one side. I chose the BBQ Baked Beans. The pork was as it should be, nice and tender with a good smoked flavor. The pork is sandwiched on a Potato Bun which is a nice touch. Now, if you like a little heat, my suggestion is to ask your waitress for this little secret and that is their Ghost Pepper Sauce. You have to ask for it. It will show up in a small condiments container, like those you put ketchup etc. This Ghost Pepper sauce is very well blended. It has a nice sweet BBQ flavor with that pepper kick on the backside. Combine that with the sweetness of the Potato Bun, and wow what an experience per bite you will have eating this sandwich. Nothing spectacular about the beans and I do not mean that in a negative way, just there wasn't anything memorable or negative to comment about. They were BBQ Baked Beans and they were good. If you have room, go for the freshly fried pie for dessert. I had the chocolate and what a great dessert it was and regrettable as I know I shouldn't be eating this much LOL. The service was outstanding even during a busy hour that was lunchtime. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Overall, this is a 5 Star in the class of BBQ places. Two stars for the server and owner being so nice and for providing good service. I ordered the rib diner, the baked beans were cool, baked potato was probably cooked early in the day and microwaved back to life, the ribs weren't bad just a little cool. The wife had the pulled pork and it really didn't have a smoke flavor at all and was kinda blah. She also have the same results on her baked potato and the coleslaw tasted just like raw cabbage with no flavor. I'll probably try it again someday to see if it improved. read more
