The wait staff was very friendly and attentive! I ordered the fried pickles and fried mushrooms, I felt like the fried pickles were overdone and the fried mushrooms weren't quite done enough. I ordered the three-piece catfish with shrimp and fried oysters. Homemade tartar sauce was great! I felt like the cocktail sauce could use a little more horseradish for some kick. The service was horrible. My family and I came after church and everyone order and when they brought the food out, mine was missing. And she said she will go check on it, 20-25 minutes passed, my family food is all gone and my never came out. And the waitress who took our order, my dad try to see where my food at and she just ignore him at first then proceeded to tell him that they never made it. 3.5 stars. I have seen Sam's Southern Eateries in a few locations, but I had not been into one until today. The food came in ample portions and was pretty good over all. Some in my party did not care for the tarter sauce-which is an important part of eating fried fish. The shrimp were huge and quite tasty. We also ordered a kid's meal that was a big serving for a kid, a very good value. Parking easy in dedicated lot. Interior is fairly spartan but clean, including the bathroom which was spotless. On my visit they only had to-go cups but no big deal. Staff friendly and active. Sunday afternoon crowd friendly and talkative. Food very good. Breading on fried items very light and flavorful. Not greasy. We had the whole catfish and a fish oyster combo. Excellent. Beans and rice a bit too soupy but great flavor. Canned green beans ok and coleslaw good. Hush puppies delicious as well with a touch of jalapeno. This is not fine dining but solid down home cooking. 5 stars for front of house service. It is my first time here and I am picking up some wing for my friend and me to enjoy on our lunch break. This is the test for BOH. ;) FOH was super friendly and informative. The girl who took my order and payment had a big smile and professional attitude. They make this place feel like a small town diner where everyone knows each other and asks how your momma is doing or why you weren't in church on Sunday. XD Now, I haven't tried their sweet tea. I suppose that will be the next test, if they pass the first one. The building was a Mexican restaurant while I was growing up/working in Ada. I haven't been in here since then (about 2008-9). I have always thought, when they don't convention the outside, the inside is where the effort is. Again, we shall see. The server said my order would take about 15 minutes and it looks like she was right on the money. Wings were alright. I'd have them again, most likely. There was a little more breading than meat, it's okay tho. The chicken tasted good. Fries were like Long John Silver's. Hush puppies could be better. I'll give those another chance later. stay away the cook don't know what they're doing, I got a to go order and half of it was missing. Called them and they didn't acted like they didn't know what I was talking about and I'd just left 15 minutes earlier. We went in on a Tuesday night around 5:30 PM and it wasn't even overly busy. We were promptly seated and handed menus. So after 12 minutes of looking at my watch with no one returning to take a drink order or food order we left. A waitress even watched us get up and leave and didn't even ask why. Seems like a pretty simple concept people come in for food and you take their order and serve them food. I doubt we'll be back unless I see them on tv getting some help from Gordon Ramsey or Robert Irvin. read more

6 months after going on their grand opening night and Sam's Place still has great seafood. The fried green tomatoes, crawfish Po'Boy, crabcakes and giant fried oysters are my favorites. The waitresses are really sweet and are great at making sure we have what we need. We've visited twice a month and it's been great food and service every time whether at lunch or dinner. This is the worst place to eat. I have no idea how they have 4 stars on google reviews. Tables were dirty, they weren't busy but the waitresses are running around like they dont have a clue. No straws, no silverware given we had to ask for it. Had to ask for the table to be wiped down. The food was HORRIBLE. There were 8 of us. They came and just started sitting the food on the table like they didn't know who had ordered what and it did not look appetizing at all, the orders were wrong, no flavor to the food at all. This was ok. It was more like fast food than a sit down restaurant. We were there as a party of five. Three of us got our meals long before the other two. I love this place!! Food is awesome. Being from the deep South I enjoy the Cajun twist on the Po'Boys. The catfish is unbelievably good. Food has always been served fresh out of the fryer and way too hot to eat. I go every chance I get. They have great food, decent prices, and the service is always friendly. Definitely not a place for health nuts. But it is a great place to grab lunch with plenty of leftovers for dinner or snack. You cannot go wrong with Sam's Place. read more
