It was our first visit so we weren't sure what to expect. I now know you can expect: friendly service, reasonable prices, and good food. When you walk in the front door it is a little confusing. There is a gift shop, and the restaurant is past the gift shop; but the hostess stand is in the gift shop. You also pay your dinning bill at the gift shop counter. The gift shop got very congested, but it was not a big deal and won't impact my rating. We started with a cup of French Onion Soup. It was very good, they top it with some thin french fried onions which was a nice twist. It has been awhile since I've been in Iowa and I was craving a breaded pork tenderloin sandwich. The sandwich was good but not up to Iowa standards. I'm accustomed to a breaded pork tenderloin that is pounded nice and thin and is way bigger than the bun. This was not pounded thin. It was a thick cut of meat. But, I repeat it was good. My fries were delicious. My wife had the Classic Burger and it was excellent. She said her sweet potato fries were good (I did not try them). Service is friendly, and prices are reasonable. One word of caution: If you are on a road-trip and hoping for a quick stop (as we were) be warned it won't be quick. Everything is made from scratch, which is great, but it definitely takes longer. If you are in Davenport and looking for good food at reasonable prices you might want to stop by The Machine Shed.

If service is a bit slow, give them a break, place is often crowded with tables constantly turning, but they never rush you. When weather permits, there's a nice patio. I keep reading "friendly service". I'd say actually it's a bit brusque. It's midwestern friendly, the blank face kind that's waiting to make sure you're not a jerk, or let you know they don't put up with them. But the service is excellent They should give up the counter seating for customers and call it "kitchen view" imho ha I don't want to say this for fear they raise prices, but very affordable. Tip them well. I've gone all around the menu and the only items I personally don't return to are the flatbreads, just not my thing. I opt instead for their sandwiches, salmon tacos, breakfast items, soups. It's all very good. Thanks, Brew!

A friend and I had brunch/lunch here and the menu is a curated selection of tasty bites. I had the BREWschetta and it really hit the spot that I was looking for in a small bite. In particular, the balsamic was delicious! I also had two sour beers (cans) and they were local and great. We had the pleasure of sitting outside in the nice weather and the patio was lively! This place seems to get a lot of attention and rightfully so. On top of it, the staff was attentive the entire time. Out the door we didn't break the bank and left content. I certainly encourage you to give Brew a try if you have never been!

We ended up in Davenport on July 5th. We finished the Freedom Rock Tour in Clinton and then headed…read moreto the Quad Cities to do a little thrifting and antiquing. Early afternoon we both started getting a little hungry, The breakfast sandwiches from Dunkin' in Muscatine had run their course. I'd heard The Filling Station had a pretty good tenderloin at one time and their site and online menu looked pretty good. It was easy to find and their parking lot is HUGE. No problem finding a place to park on a Saturday afternoon... Two hostesses greeted us as we walked in. One of them seated us, gave us menus, and let us know a server would be with us soon. Don't expect a Michelin star environment. It's kind of old school casual sports bar. Lots of dark wood and neon signs. Lots of TVs. Seating is booths as well as both low and high top tables and chairs. There's the standard bar and stools too... Standard table service for ordering and payment. I didn't catch the young man's name who served us, but my receipt said Jordan so I hope that's correct... Jordan greeted us and let us know he would be our server. Took our drink order, and let us know about a couple items on the menu. The tenderloin and wings. A couple minutes later he was back with our drinks and answered a couple questions we had on the menu. I ordered the breaded tenderloin and fries and Heather ordered the cheese curd burger with frie and a side of ranch. While we waited for our order Jordan checked in on us now and then and kept us updated. Our drinks (a tea and water) never hit the bottom of the glass. Our order hit the table hot and fresh! It was easy to tell the tenderloin, cheese curds on the burger, and fries were right out of the fryer. The tenderloin is 3/4 of a pound and served on an 8 inch bun. It's nice to see a bun that is some semblance of proportional to a large tenderloin... That being said... I think it is a true tenderloin and not a fritter. BUT it is pounded a little more thin than what I normally like... I could see why some people in other reviews, and on other sites, would mistakenly call this a fritter. It's a couple of whacks from getting the point of ground up pork. The taste was on point, but as I ate it I could feel it getting dryer and it was harder to eat when I got to the last of it. I think leaving the 'loin a little thicker would eliminate this happening... Just a thought. I'd still order it again as is. Heather really liked her cheese curd burger too. I'm sure the ranch was originally intended for the curds or the fries, but she said adding it to the burger made it even better... I'll leave that one alone... Chicken...sure. I'm not sure how I feel about the combination of good beef and ranch. Lol Prices were reasonable and Jordan stayed on top of everything the entire meal. Couldn't have asked for a better server! We had a stellar first visit to The Filling Station... I'm going to hit those breaded wings the next time we're in town!

There are many options to choose from. I had the Bock and Cheese pasta, while my partner enjoyed the Millionaire Bacon Burger. Both dishes were phenomenal. The only minor issue was that the burger, ordered medium well, was served medium rare. No big deal. The restaurant was being decorated for the holiday season, which added a fun touch! The space is open and airy, ensuring you don't feel crowded, and it's very clean. The beautiful modern-industrial style is perfect for hosting events. We stopped in to Granite City as it is right next to our hotel. Easy…read more. A hostess will seat you. No greeting arriving (or departing,) other than "just two?". She was efficient and smiled. Our waitress came over in good time and took a drink order which showed up in very good time. I also asked a menu question which she got the answer to right away. As another reviewer stated it is *cold* in there! I keep a sweater in my bag for this purpose but still, I was cold. 86 outside, 66 inside (at a guess of course). They may keep the air cold to cool down that hot open kitchen. Bring a jacket or sweater. Our food came out in good time. Portions were generous. Plenty of cheese on my burger. I can understand how another reviewer mentioned the food is salty. The burger is mixed w/a GC spice blend that does seem heavy on the salt. At first it was fine, but I couldn't finish my burger. After a while the taste just stuck in my throat and was too much. May want to pull back a bit on the amount of spice blend being added. The crinkle fries were really good. Nice and crispy. My dining comlanion got the buffalo chicken wrap. Plenty of meat, spicy sauce and veg in this wrap. Trouble is the wrap barely holds the filling in and as the sauce makes the wrap wet, it inevitably fell apart. It is very tasty though, and he happily ate it with a knife and fork. Maybe a bigger wrap is available? 'Cause that portion size is excellent. Staff do seem to congregate in the kitchen area with the expediter. As the dining room got busier, we naturally saw less of our waitress but she did check in a few times and was sure to keep the water glass full and offer drink refills. The ladies room really needs a visual make over and deep clean. It does have a bit of a swampy smell. A machine by the sink, that I believe is a dehumidifier, had a light on it blinking "empty". So the tank was full of water? If it had been running, that may have helped with the smell but I don't know. It wasn't offensive, just a humid bathroom smell. The beer is good, as one would hope from a brewery. They have a selection from Irish Red to pilsners. The menu says to ask about sours. The interior is comfortable, casual with a mix of booths and tables. A couple of the booth seats are in serious disrepair (torn/split material exposing the foam cushion) and need to be fixed. A bar with high top tables is on the other side of the hostess stand keeping the areas seperate. A glass wall seperates you from both the brewing tanks on one wall and the kitchen on another wall. Restrooms by kitchen. Plenty of parking in their private lot. Those entry doors (two sets) are *heavy!
