The food was good. The dining area was very nice and elegant. The service was pretty good.

Ooh! Depends what you're looking for. Bix has a limited menu. We had dinner and breakfast there while staying at the Blackhawk. The dinner menu had only about half a dozen items; but they were all well executed. The sea bass was particularly good; well seasoned and cooked to a perfect medium rare. We also had breakfast at Bix. The omelettes were packed with ingredients and perfectly done and the hash browns were excellent. Again a limited menu but well executed. So if you're staying at the Blackhawk don't hesitate to frequent the Bix but you probably wouldn't select it as a standalone restaurant choice. However, the bartenders are great; friendly, accommodating and just damn good at what they do! read more

To be honest, we were not expecting a hotel restaurant to be as good as our dinner was, but I have to say we absolutely loved not only the food but the excellent service at Bix. My wife had the roast chicken with mash and I had the chop with pickled purple onions and cornbread. Both were excellent. We had a great starter, too. I had the opportunity to eat their AYCE brunch on Sunday and I should have ordered an entree so it would of been fresh. The only things fresh was the omelette station but all the other foods were either bland or tough to eat for it being out maybe too long. Service was decent as the waitress tried to bring fresh shrimp and grits or biscuits because the food that was left out in the AYCE area was old. I would recommend avoiding the AYCE brunch and give the entree options a try. It is a nice place but the food was definitely not up to par. read more

Seating is open to the main lobby, it has a loud, busy atmosphere. Food was middling, if acceptable. Service was equally mediocre, with a borderline offensive explanation of their digital menu. There were 7 in our group. The restaurant was not busy at all, but it took 3 HOURS to get drinks and food. Six of the seven meals came out together. Unfortunately the $42. flavorless Sea Bass came out 15 minutes after the other meals. The Iowa chops and steaks were good. The burger was not good. The appetizers were good. We were comped one free dessert. Waitress was kind, but way too slow getting drinks, sometimes it took 20 minutes. The water was only refilled once in three hours. Mine was never refilled. Apparently, I used the restroom at that time it was asked to be refilled. I would not suggest going here, sorry. Kind of sad because the atmosphere is great. But it's clear as to why they were not busy at 6:00-9:00 on a Saturday. When one meal comes out that much later than the others, instead of offering dessert perhaps offer to take off the cost of part of that meal. We had reservations for Valentines Day last night and were going specifically for the sea bass which was the featured entree. We sat at the bar and had a drink, when we finally got waited on, waiting for our reservation time. The menu still showed the sea bass as the featured entree. We went to the hostess stand to be seated and no one was around. We asked the bartenders if there was someone to seat us and they didn't have a clue. I went over to the consigner desk and asked if they knew if someone was around to seat us for our reservation and they had to go find someone. Finally, someone came to the hostess stand to seat us. Once we got to the table and opened the menu, the featured sea bass was no longer on the menu and had been replaced by cod. We asked the waitress about it and she said, after serving it on Thursday and Friday night they had ran out of it. We told her it had been on the menu up to the time we had left the bar to be seated for our reservation, and she said she had just been told they were out of it. Needless to say, we told her that was the reason we had chosen to eat at their restaurant and we left. So here we are at 4;30 on Valentines Day looking for somewhere else to eat. Luckily, the Bend Event was accommodating and a great choice instead. read more

After waiting 90 minutes and hearing from our server that it would be five more minutes, we asked for our dinners to be placed in to-go containers because we had to leave in 10 minutes. We tried to ask for to-go containers earlier but were interrupted and talked over about the food taking five more minutes again. We finally had to leave after walking around the restaurant looking for anybody. We did leave money for the drinks with a tip because I don't like to stiff anybody, but $40 to sit there for 2 hours hearing five more minutes...rough night. read more

Everything was cooked perfectly and it was spaced out so we didn't feel rushed. Our waiter was super friendly and even told us we could purchase a bottle that we could bring up to the room. On a Wednesday night there was about 4 tables including us. Definitely recommend getting the scallops. They were DELICIOUS. Also the restaurant itself was very classy. The Sunday brunch was pretty bad. No waiters for the tables, and one person tending to the all the food trays, so it was all hard and dry. The dessert table was mostly plastic cups with yoghurt and a few pieces of fruit, wrapped in saranwrap. If they say prime rib, it's actually dry overcooked tritip. French toast like cardboard. Once the biscuits are removed from the steamer, they're like hockey pucks. read more

My wife and I were so happy to dine at Bix for an early Valentine's dinner. It was a train wreck. Shame on Marriott, I would not promote this as an Autograph Collection item. The first table was broken so we moved. More disturbing us the staff was unaware the table was garbage. Speaks to a lack of good management in my opinion. We were excited and hungry. The tuna appetizer was excellent. First class. The drinks were also top notch. Our entrees were disappointing. The salmon was meh. Started off being served the wrong drink, then got my salad with about two tablespoons of dressing on the side. Ate as much as I could actually put dressing on and asked for another side. Bix Bistro for date night was a huge success. I loved the location, loved the decor and the service. There is not a very huge selection but I will let you know exactly what is a must try foods. For starters we got the mushrooms filled with cod and crab I'm not a huge fan of fish, but I could not taste the fish or smell it so that was a win. Second I ordered the black hawk salad the dressing was out of this world and third my husband got the salmon which was cooked perfectly. Dessert was my favorite we got cheesecake nothing that exciting but the COCONUT PANNA COTTA was AMAZING! If I could give this place more stars I would in a heartbeat. read more

Three out of four orders were correct. It took 20 minutes to get two simple cocktails. Cold Mac and cheese for child number 1. Cheeseburger for other child came out instead of hamburger. My wife ordered the salmon and got a really gnarly chicken delivered to the table. We tried to order an $80 bottle of wine but by the time we finished our meal we were told they didn't have it. The manager didn't comp anything and we barely received an apology. We were looking forward to dining here as guests of the hotel but we'll leave in -19 degrees weather to eat elsewhere. read more

Terrible service. Waited an hour and ten minutes for dinner, finally had to cancel our order so we could get to our show in time. They knew we had tickets for a 6pm show, and yet even with our 4:30pm dinner reservation, couldn't get food out to us in time. What a disappointment my lunch today was. It was good thing I was in good company because, honestly, that was the only good thing about my experience. Let me tell you about it. We were seated promptly and greeted by our friendly server. I ordered the lunch combination of the 3 cheese grilled cheese with tomato and bacon and a side salad of greens with parmesan cheese, croutons and garlic dressing. Sounded perfect to me. The menu said that the combinations are gauranteed to be served within 10 minutes. My lunch companion order the tall BLT with fruit on the side. And then we waited, and waited and waited. Definitely more than the 10 minutes but I didn't want to make a fuss about it. When our food arrived, the server said my friend's fresh fruit would be right out. The server left and I noticed that my salad had no dressing. More waiting, more waiting, didn't see the server, asked another server for the fruit and the salad dressing. Our server brings my salad dressing and tells my friend that the fruit will be right out and that it is taking so long because the fruit is being hand-cut. What??? When it did arrive, the dish had a few pieces of cut up canteloupe and cut pineapple but then it had whole strawberries, whole blue berries, whole blackberries. You get the idea, I could have (and would have) made the 3 cheese grilled sandwich alot better. The cheeses were very thinly sliced and they were not even melted in the center. The tomatoes were unacceptable. They were actually white, not even red. I pulled them off the sandwich. The bacon was good and the bread was toasted nicely. The manager comes out and apologizes to my friend for him having to wait for his fresh fruit and offers him a free dessert. Ok, but what about me? I didn't get my salad dressing until I was half way done with my sandwich. Oh, and the salad greens were warm. Swear to God. Warm salad greens. They couldn't even get dessert correct. They offered a 'pots de creme'. Pronounced 'po day crem' except both the manager and server pronounced it 'pot dee cream'. And what they actually served us was a creme brulee. Oh geez! Just get me out of here. It is a good thing that I was not paying the bill. I would not have tipped at all. I didn't ask my friend whether he added a tip or not. read more

Easter Brunch on their website was listed as $30, kids 8-14 $16.95 and complimentary Bloody Mary's and Mamosas. The staff argued this was wrong and the website was out of date and they aren't responsible for the website being wrong so they would not honor their website advertised prices. They said to Google 2019 Bix Bistro Easter Brunch for the correct pages, yet same info comes up. There are no dates on the website. Truth in advertising is lost on Bix Bistro under their new Director. Maybe it's time to hire someone who understands how web based advertising works. read more

A very nice dining option in Davenport! Had their steak and it was cooked perfectly to my med-rare request. It was served with a mushroom sauce, broccolini and potatoes. Try the tots for the appetizer! Including a generous tip, a margarita and dessert= $50. PS: a reservation is generally a good idea. One time we didn't need it, one time we did and were turned away. So call and make a reservation just in case. read more

This place has been on a downward spiral the last year. Bartender was excellent, but the food, which used to be inconsistently good, is now just bad. Garlic is the go to and expect no trouble from the undead. Chewy steaks, cold entrees it's just a shame what's happened here. We used to give feedback, but it seems they just quit trying. A long awaited evening of dining out went VERY well. The BIX BISTRO was an excellent choice. We felt comfortable with their Covid 19 prodigal: wait staff with masks and gloves, sanitized digital menus, social distancing. The lobby of the Hotel Blackhawk cuts a striking scene. I entered the tastefully appointed foyer where a jazz quartet played Nina Simone and directed to Bix Bistro, which is located in one corner of the main floor. My crew was already gathered comfortably around a large circular table and our waitress Amy brought coffee. We stayed for two hours and I had a great time, but honestly that was down to the company. The service and food at Bix Bistro were sadly mediocre at best. After I arrived, Amy released us to the buffet which featured breakfast and lunch items in warmers. Restaurant employees were stationed behind a table, available to cook omlettes or slice prime rib as necessary. One table featured a beautiful platter of mixed berries. I loaded up on these, along with some eggs, bacon, and biscuits & gravy. Everything was good but not great. Except the berries. The sausage links were the precooked sort that are sold frozen and heated up, something below the standard of a restaurant at this price point. The waitress informed us that a chef would gladly cook pancakes fresh, but when mine arrived it was cold, dense, and inedible (pro-tip: for phenomenal pancakes, visit QC Coffee & Pancake House). I didn't have any mimosas, but my friends complained that theirs were mostly orange juice. Amy, our server, was MIA for the majority of our meal. In her defense there was another even larger party seated nearby that she was obviously responsible for, but we were left to fend for ourselves when it came to beverages. My friends walked to the bar or tried with limited success to flag down other staff for refills. Luckily for me there was a drink station nearby for coffee and water so I just helped myself when the need arose. This was something we lived with, but it still sort of chapped my hide that a 20% gratuity was automatically attached to our checks (bringing mine to a grand total of $30) when Amy did virtually nothing for us for the duration of our visit. My friends freaking love brunch, and I had so much fun with them yesterday morning. However, we could have had the same amount of fun anywhere, so next time I'm probably going to vote to take the party somewhere cheaper with better food. read more

Cant really review as I tried to go on two separate occasions (dinner and breakfast the next morning) and in both cases even though the restaurant was over half empty they were only seating people with reservations and weren't taking any walk-ins at all (though they did offer a reservation for 3 hours later). As this is a hotel restaurant it's struck me as a little out of their league. read more

My first experience eating here was horrendous. After making our reservation a week in advance, we showed up on time and were told they did not have room for us. Our waiter, Louis, was incredibly rude and it took two hours for us to get our food. Not to mention- AN HOUR before we were given bread (after asking multiple times). This service was horrendous and I will not be returning. I apologize personally to President Obama for having to endure this service. read more
