We sat at the bar and our first impression was not favorable. Even though there were just a couple of people sitting at the bar, after a passing hello from the bartender, no one came to take our order for quite a while. The vibe inside was interesting. They have an old wooden bar with seating and then a lot of space next to that before you get to a row of high top seating that reminded me of a diner. On the other side of that divider was restaurant seating. All that being said, once we placed our order and watched the bartender as he made our drinks, we were glad we stayed. I didn't get his name, but he made a very good old fashioned! I would return for that. We chose not to stay for dinner, so I can't speak to the food. read more

Came in here for dinner on an overnight stay for work. I was told it'd be about 30 minute wait but was helped out quicker than that and sat in the bar area. I was created fairly quickly by the nice bartenders. I ordered the steak frites and they were great! The seasoning in the fries and steak was superb, and the sauce added to the great flavor. I asked for a recommendation on the burger and the bartenders recommended the bison burger. It was definitely the best bison burger I've had in a while. Great flavor and the caramelized onions added a great touch. The only thing I is that the lettuce looked a bit old and the burger was a bit overcooked. I asked for medium and it came out closer to well done. Overall great food and experience and I would come back if I'm ever in Davenport. read more

Went mid-afternoon on a weekend, so off peak time. Had salmon tartines as an appetizer. It is smoked salmon on a toasted baguette slice with cheese. This is set on top of greens lightly dressed with a vinaigrette (citrus, I think). I loved it. Important thing is not to ignore the greens (arugula). It is not just there for decoration. Putting the acidic flavor on top of the smoked salmon and cheese brings together a terrific combination of complementary tastes (acid, smoky umami, salt, fat). One warning--my wife did not like it. It was the slimy texture of the smoked salmon that ruined it for her. For entrees, I had the bison burger. I have to admit I was disappointed in this. On paper, it sounds very fancy, but it was really kind of boring. I did not even notice the garlic aioli (not garlicky enough for me, although I recognize that not everyone likes strong garlic). The fries were disappointing as well. They tasted like the frying oil needed to be changed. My wife ordered a custom portobello burger and said it was really good. My kid had mac & cheese. He wasn't really into it. I tried it later and thought it was above average. I think he just wasn't hungry. For dessert I had the tropical trifle. This has layers of caramelized pineapple, lime curd, and coconut cream. Imagine a pina colada in spoon eaten form, except with a lot more sugar (and without the booze). I liked it, but it was a bit much. They may want to cut back on the amount of sugar or make it a little smaller. The place is spacious and airy with a contemporary feel. Our server, Hailey, was wonderful. She was helpful with the menu and checked on us with appropriate frequency. Overall, I would eat here again. Even though there were some misses for me with the food, the salmon and dessert dishes stood out to me for their boldness, and I would be interested in trying more of their menu. read more

A staple in downtown Davenport, I finally had a chance to visit Me & Billy with a friend on my most recent visit to the city. While the meal itself was solid, the service experience left a little to be desired. To make a long story short, the hostess was not very friendly and there appeared to be a miscommunication in what level of service to expect when sitting at the bar. We were told we could order dinner there as well, but struggled for quite a while to get a menu or meal order in. It wasn't the end of the world, but it was uncomfy as I eventually had to return to the hostess and ask for a menu and help getting our order placed. Ordering simply wasn't a smooth experience - perhaps this would've been different had we been seated at a table, but again, we were told the bar was full-service. I fully acknowledge this could've been an off night and not the typical experience, but it was a little awkward. Otherwise, the meal was super solid. I ordered a mocktail (highly recommend, I love a good mocktail menu!), shared an appetizer, and opted for a burger as my entree, and everything was delicious. I would definitely visit again to try more of the menu. read more

I absolutely love everything about this restaurant. Traveling for business I came here both nights got the same entree and dessert, and tried 2 different appetizers. Beer brat nachos were amazing and cheese curds also amazing. The steak was a little disappointing, night 1 I ordered it medium and it came out almost well done. I ate it the way it was but it needed steak sauce for flavor. Night 2 I ordered it medium rare and it came out rare. I sent it back to be fired for a few more minutes. Came back perfect however no seasoning. For a 39$ steak I expect to be able to eat it without steak sauce. Got the Tropical Trifle both nights. Good desert but not consistent. Stopped in for lunch. Nice spot in downtown Davenport. They have great burgers, salads, grilled cheese. I had the Billy burger cooked as ordered it has an over easy egg on top & American cheese big burger 2 in our party had the grilled cheese with a tomato basil dipping sauce, they were huge portions We had the ahi tuna appetizer which was also large portion. Our waitress was quick & checked on us & refilled drinks. The only down side for me were the fries, they were overdone & a bit soggy, but I would definitely go back. Also got to meet Billy, he checked to make sure everything was good, very nice & I appreciated him coming to our table. You rarely get that in restaurants anymore. Will go back again soon. Reaffirming my 4 star review from a few years ago. My wife and I stopped in on a Saturday night and after a short wait in their 'side waiting room', we were seated at a table. The vibe is very lively, with high ceilings and floor to wall windows, but it's an upbeat and energetic environment. I got a Turkey Burger and my wife got a Bison Burger. Both were excellent. I got the side of cooked jalapenos, and they were nicely spicy and a very generous serving for a very meager 70 cents. The fries were a blast of skin-on potato with a soft, starchy consistency and flavor. They reminded us of the homemade ones we used to make many years ago. Our server was very pleasant, but the bar was a bit slow getting drinks out, and the servers seemed to be very busy, so we did have to wait a few minutes longer than might have been ideal. All in all, a very good experience still, and they appear to be a real staple in Downtown Davenport given how long they've been here and how crowded they are. Definitely recommended. read more

The cheese curds were oil soaked and not fried properly. Most had no or little cheese in them again from improper frying. The crab dip was powerful fishy and the toast rounds were butter soaked... again more grease. My chicken dumpling soup was luke warm and any food served, especially a cream soup, cant be safely served not piping hot. The sourdough grilled toast with it was... again soaked in butter and thus inedible. Husband's chili was off tasting and again not piping hot. His sourdough was also swimming in butter. We usually love this place. We went before a concert last week. My husband got a grilled tenderloin that was very small and very dry. He said all he could taste was the condiments and the very dense pretzel bun that overpowered the meat. I had very good curry chicken soup that I liked. Our waitress was friendly and did a great job. My sister and Neice got that huge grilled cheese to share, garlic green beans and fries. The grilled cheese and beans they liked. All the fries were a little too brown . We will always come back as we like the atmosphere, but my husband won't get the tenderloin again. I wish there were better Salad offerings and gluten free ANYTHING! read more

Food tasted good. A little pricey for what you get. The French fries were a little on the salty side and the fries were not crispy. No options for something other than fries unless you pay an extra $2.00. Took a while to get our food. We moved tables because of how cold the air conditioning was, didn't appreciate the comment of the server on how the air conditioning blows everywhere. The second table at least didn't have the air blowing directly on you. The ambiance of the restaurant was very noisy for us. Decor of the restaurant was up to date. read more

I'm in town for business and this was within walking distance from my hotel. When I walked in I was greeted by Billy himself. He's welcoming and accommodating as I had asked for a table in the corner so I could do work over lunch. When I looked around the burgers seem to be a lunchtime favorite but for me, why eat a burger when I can get that almost anywhere? My waitress shared her favorite sandwiches with me and I opted for the steak sandwich that comes with fries but subbed garlic green beans. The steak was cooked perfect. The bread is toasted and slathered with aioli, sweet tomato jam and topped with peppery arugula. The garlic green beans were an unexpected surprise. I could've eaten a bowl full! Buttery and garlicky with still a slight firmness in the green beans. Lastly I had a taste of the Brussels Sprouts. I prefer my sprouts pan fried and crispy. These sprouts had tons of flavor (dare I say teriyaki like?) but not crispy. I would come back for dinner and try their after 4pm menu. I was eyeing the shrimp and grits. read more

A casual classy joint in downtown Davenport. My wife and I stopped in for spell on our way to a concert that was 2 blocks away. Me & Billy came highly recommended from two locals earlier in the day, so away we went. I started with an Apple Harvest Margarita; a delicious concoction for $10 and then ordered the DLUX Darn Big Grilled Cheese Sandwich for $14. Sourdough bread with muenster and cheddar, whiskey glazed onions, bacon onion marmalade, spinach, and tomato with cups of tomato basil and buttermilk ranch for dipping along with a healthy size side of fries. The size of the sandwich was definitely DLUX and Darn Big; it was at least the size of two normal sandwiches in length. Filling, unique and reorder worthy. Darn big and darn tasty. My wife was still full from our earlier lunch in Dubuque so she went straight to dessert with the Stacked Chocolate Cake. A huge chunk of cake and just like the sandwich could easily serve two people. Decadently delicious and plated beautifully. Ate lunch here recently while visiting my son at school. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a nice clean friendly place with great food. The server I got was a little distant, but the host was great and suggested several items. I got a steak sandwich and it was pretty good. There cheese curds for awesome. My wife had the pork loin sandwich and loved it. I was able to get a taste, and it was definitely the best pork tenderloin sandwich I've ever had bar none. Overall a very good experience but as we all know there can always be a bit of a room for improvement- I ordered the bison burger & my boyfriend ordered the Franny. We both ordered medium but came out well-done so it was just a tad dryer than expected. This is the best burger I've had in a long time! I had the Billy Burger. It's a burger with American cheese, onion and an over easy egg. Excellent! The beef patty was tremendous. Bun was fresh. The garlic aioli pulled it all together. Seriously tasty. The fries are hand cut. They are good. I should have asked if they had dipping sauces, but I just stuck with ketchup. My wife built her own sandwich. She did chicken, bacon and avocado on a brioche bun. It was really good too. (I had a few bites.) She got Mac and cheese as her side. If you like Mac and cheese, their's is great! Very creamy, even as it cools. That's a hallmark of great Mac and cheese in my opinion. Service was excellent. He was attentive despite being very busy. The place has sort of an understated modern look. It is classy, but stops short of being too formal. Good for families or dates. All in all, I loved it. Just had soup and salad for lunch. The pear salad was delicious and so was the dumpling soup. My husband had Caesar salad with the tortilla soup and he was very happy as well. Lots of office bees there for lunch as well so a little noisy, but food was well worth it. Greeted cheerfully which started the experience off in right foot. A nice little gem near the Blackhawk for an easy walk even in the teens and snowing. The host and waitress(Brittany) were quite welcoming. Service was great and the food was fantastic. I never thought I'd eat a great Caesar salad in Davenport, IA, but I did. Even had the subtle anchovy taste in the dressing. Well done! The pommes frites were also quite tasty! I have always loved Me and Billy's the owners are great! The ambiance is amazing! The food has declined a bit I had a burger it was the size of my nieces kid burger for double the price. The fries are not regular size they are like burnt ends. The waiter was disappointing (Zach) was rude, grabbed our checks reaching his arm while we were still at the table. Put gratuity for 7 people probably because he knew he was terrible. He would've gotten more if he was decent. Do not recommend him. read more

My husband and I went here to grab a quick lunch. The inside is so cute! They have lots of seating, and they also have a small room to the left, which was hosting a shower at the time. I posted about 2 years ago how I loved the atmosphere of this bar. Unfortunately, I had to rewrite my experience from a couple weeks ago when me and my friends went out for her birthday to grab a couple drinks at this restaurant. Right off the bat, the owner (old lady) (as the hostess) taking down names, asked with an entitled attitude "how many people", I said maybe 5-6 and she seemed annoyed I wasn't sure if the last person was coming or not. Finally, wrote down our name. My friends came, and we got a table. We talked, had fun, and had a couple drinks. Everything was fine. As we were leaving out the door, that same old lady, with such rude intentions, said to all of us out loud among the words of: "Next time we are not sitting you at a table just for drinks" First of all, how are we suppose to know that? Second of all, isn't it YOUR job as the hostess to ask if we're DINING in? I have never was given such bad vibes from a restaurant before, until then. It was given Treehouse Pub & Eatery owner vibes. (If you know, you know) I don't know if it's because we're young, she could speak to us in such a way. Or because she is very entitled. Bartender and waitress were extremely excellent!
