Well, he went with 10 Fried Shrimp instead and enjoyed his meal. For an appetizer, we got cheese curds and those were pretty good! My mom and I went with the fried blue gill but they ended up being out of it! Super bummed! We ended up going with the fried cod and I wouldn't get it again. It was pretty hard and crunchy and not as good as the fish we have back home in Indiana. My wife got the burger and really enjoyed it. The bartender is the one who took care of us and she did a great job until a few more people came and sat at the bar. Then it went downhill. We were trying to pay with a credit card but she never came back for it so we left cash instead. When it comes to ambiance, this is definitely a bar. 100%. I probably wouldn't bring a family here (even though it's all ages-there are loud gaming systems) but I can see how it's good enough for the bar scene. So it is what it is. I wouldn't be back for the food though.

David expertly guided each of us through our drink choices, and encouraged us to try the charcuterie board. The mushroom "pâté" was incredible! I do not drink alcohol so the NA menu was perfect for me. I was craving a hibiscus lemonade which isn't exactly on the menu, and David made me a custom cocktail taking into consideration my favorite flavors. My drink was a perfect blend of tart & sweet. The laid back yet authentic vibe is the kind of ambiance that will definitely bring me back when I next visit Iowa.

The pork chop dinner was seasoned well and was also cooked just right, juicy and not dry. The tater tots and onion rings were very good. The baked potatoes were good but the skins need to be cleaned and salted (a nit). I did not see any beers on tap and was told they do NOT carry Cody Road bourbon. And could not make an old fashioned. So - a good dinner place with friendly service. Not really for Happy Hour. Prices were reasonable.

They have an old wooden bar with seating and then a lot of space next to that before you get to a row of high top seating that reminded me of a diner. On the other side of that divider was restaurant seating. All that being said, once we placed our order and watched the bartender as he made our drinks, we were glad we stayed. I didn't get his name, but he made a very good old fashioned! I would return for that. We chose not to stay for dinner, so I can't speak to the food.

We all ordered beverages and many of us ordered lunch. The food was very good. A variety of offerings, reasonable prices, nice-sized servings, and very tasty entrees were enjoyed by many. I had the Rajun Cajun grilled chicken sandwich - it was nicely flavored, a big piece of chicken on a pretzel bun, with a tasty sauce and a side of crisp, fresh french fries. A couple in our group got the grilled tenderloin, which was equally flavorful and tasty. A few also got nachos, which are an appetizer, and they were a nice gooey combo of chips and veggies, and appropriate for one person to substitute as a lunch. At least one in our group got the fried tenderloin, which was a good-sized thin, crispy piece of pork. Drinks are reasonably priced and the full bar has a variety to choose from. We had a couple of servers, and while one had some challenges keeping track of a few orders, the other server backed her up and helped take good care of us. Nice atmosphere that's family friendly.

Rock Island Brewing is mainly know as an entertainment venue. Lots of live music including karaoke. There's also pretty cheap prices. Came in at night and there was some bad karaoke going on and not much else. It had pretty cheap drafts for $4 on a few. The IPA was a pretty good one. As far as food there's not a lot. It maybe has chips for $1 or so. Greasy food from the kitchen like the usual stuff from a pub. There's wings and those kinds of things. Have to knock it for being a brewery and having mostly nothing of their own on tap, or even in bottles and cans. It's pretty much a lie. The beers they had were good though, and the food is pretty pedestrian for the most part but whatever.
