Outside looks horrid but this place is epic! Great place for a cheeseburger, or cheese tots with a berry reduction. A local hangout for all and a frequent stop for contractors and city workers alike. (I'd take advantage of that) Good place to pick up a trade worker or a cold drink mid day, even watch a game. Love this spot! Best dive bar in the QC. It's casual and inexpensive. Bartenders are friendly and drinks are simple and classic.

Davenport has an identity crisis. It is the only location that the Mighty Mississippi River actually flows east to west. Most locals could give a shit! I consider myself a local ...plus or minus 125 actual miles! I like walking through the back door of Jacks into a dark abyss. The eye transition takes a moment to adjust. A self proclaimed local would never think to walk the front door. I am usually here at 10:00 in the morning. A general disturbance of food service deliveries are a constant and this is what fry's my ass! If you open at 10:00 A.M... have the char broiler ready to go! On that note they make a decent grilled pork tenderloin sandwich. The broiler flame is set on low. It's slow cooked to the point that a "flame flair up" is as common as a Blue Moon! The front neon sign claims "Warm Beer" "Lousy Food" That's OK if you can back it up! The owner is second generation (with the gift of gab) who likes to rely on Karen to run the grill....Who am I to say! read more

Just an all around fantastic, local, dive type Tavern. Signs on the front state "Warm Beer & Lousy Food", but don't be fooled. Some of the coldest drafts in town, as well as some of the best burgers to be had. The staff are all very friendly and attentive, and won't hesitate to offer you something you've probably never had drink wise. This is a great place for watching sports, with an over abundance of televisions and a great sound system. The music selection is always spot on, and the lack of a jukebox is actually quite refreshing. Plenty of games to play, e.g. Foosball, Shuffleboard, Dice Poker, Big Game Hunter, etc. They all make for a great time partaking in some "Bar Olympics". read more

Jack's LST is one of the best dive bars I've ever been to. Filled to the brim with pool tables, shuffleboard (my personal favorite), darts, a couple of random arcade games, and old beer paraphernalia, with dim lighting and friendly service, it's everything I look for in a bar. The comfortable atmosphere at Jack's been carefully cultivated over a number of decades, and I think they've perfected it. You should definitely stop in sometime. read more

Calvin the bartender was so disrespectful. As a female we have to protect ourselves and there was a male that kept touching me and I loudly was vocally stating I wanted him to stop so it was aware to the entire bar in case anything further happened and Calvin retaliated and said "why do you keep yelling? Ain't nobody want to touch your dusty ass" after I stated I wanted guy to stop touching me. If this would of ended up in a rape situation... he was not respectful or careful of the matter. read more

I'm new to the area, stopped in on a Thursday night. Had a few beers and a burger and fries. Sat at the bar, met some nice people. Bartenders were nice, meal and drinks were good and not too pricey. I will be back for sure! read more

This is a dive bar, but it's a good one! It's not expensive, there's pool tables and video games, and the service is friendly but not fussy. People go in after work, have a beer-- keep to themselves (like I like to do when I'm just having a drink after work) but aren't rude, and it's not a meat market (I went around 6-8, I have no idea what the late nights are like). Nice place to chill, grab some nachos and a beer. Only thing I'd like them to have are a few more local beers-- I want to support small Iowa breweries as much as possible while I'm here! It started out decent. Bartender (female) was nice and accomodating and served our first drink. We started playing pinball which is right next to the bar where we left our drinks. At one point we turned around and our drinks were gone. When I asked the male bartender (I guess his name is Jason) he said they were empty. Granted they were almost gone but they weren't empty. And one would think we would have been asked if we wanted another drink. Instead he argued with me stating 3 or 4 times that our drinks were empty. Bad business. I guess you (Jason) are the owner. What a shame. That was our first time in your establishment and unfortunatelly our last. I'll spend my money elsewhere with someone who appreciates my business. read more
