I moved back to my neighborhood, Roscoe Village, last October. I was thrilled to see an 'antique' store within walking distance. Years ago Belmont Avenue was considered 'antique row' and you could spend hours browsing through treasures! Well, you can spend easily an hour in Praha looking at the vintage items. Todd and Dave have stories about the different items they have for sale in the store. I've found bar stools, a great painting that I enjoy looking at every day. At Christmas I was able to get a 3' turquoise blue / silver Christmas tree that fit perfectly in my living room. Talking with one of the owners was as if was seeing a long lost friend: the conversation just flowed, even though I had never been there! The store was fun to shop, chock full of antiques, soaps, new items that could pass for antiques--I had to walk around a few times to make sure I hadn't missed anything. The owners have great taste, and decent prices. I'd never ventured on that portion of Lincoln Ave just north of Trader Joe's--there were several little antique shops right there, but this one is a gem. read more

I've been shopping at Praha since their last location on Lincoln ave. Now that they have moved onto Belmont ave. (my hood') I couldn't be happier. Many vintage/antique/up-cycle/home furnishing stores are really pricey. That makes their items sit for a LOOOOONG time and it gets "stale". NOT these boys. I'm there at least 2-3 times a month and every week there are always new and gorgeous furnishings. Needless to say they are not helping my hoarding tenancies, but If your going to collect, it might as well be awesome stuff! The prices are also extremely reasonable. I stepped in here yesterday while I was killing time waiting for a friend and I thought that it was delicious. Some of the merchandise reminded me of something that I would find at Anthropologie, but cheaper. They have a great selection of wire baskets and picture frames, boxes, jars, vases, lamps, etc... it's a really cute place! There's some new stuff and some old stuff -- an overall great mix. I'll definitely stop by here again. I walked away with a couple of small items, but I definitely could have bought more. My one complaint is that it's a tad cramped in there - don't bring kids or a lot of shopping bags. :) read more

Great stuff here. Always worth stopping in to see what's new, or more accurately, what great old things the two owners have found for their shop. There's lots of things to decorate your home or hovel. High quality, rare but never too pricey -- the selection will get your imagination going. I LOVE Praha! What a fantastic shop! My boyfriend and I spent the whole day trying to find affordable furniture for our new apartment. We were really losing hope after visiting quite a few other antique stores. Praha was our last stop on our way back home and we really lucked out. Todd and David both have a keen eye for style. The pieces they buy for the store are beautiful, unique, and interesting. Praha is great for everyone and for all budgets (we're students). Whether you are looking for a small accent piece or need to furnish your new home/apartment, Praha is the place to go. Another great thing about Praha is that the store's inventory is constantly changing. Beware: you may become a Praha addict! Todd and David are extremely helpful and very honest, not mention very friendly. They really welcomed us to Chicago. Todd and David were very accommodating. This is one of my favorite stores ever. They always have interesting and unique pieces in here and the prices are a lot more affordable than you would think for a store of this quality. It's a great mix of vintage and new items and the fact that the owners are also completely awesome is a nice perk. Unlike a majority of antique or thrift furniture stores, Praha was remarkably well organized. It was well curated and had a wide range of items to buy at a very reasonable prices. A majority of the items are in very good condition and there's something interesting for everyone there. read more

We walked by here months and months ago, went in to check it out, and I ended up getting some dining room chairs from here. And then we went back and got a table. And then a buffet...Praha has outfitted our dining room, and if I didn't already have enough furniture for the rest of our place, I'd go here to get it. I wondered in one Sunday, and stumbled across some great looking art for a very reasonable price. That's another key aspect to this business, is that they are very affordable. I must say this is a girl/gay guy haven, but as I was coaxed into coming, it wasn't all that bad. This review is very delayed but I first visited Praha over the summer with friends on a day spent antiquing around the area. Praha was our last stop and it was the most successful. Everything in here is my style: shabby chic, french country, refurbished pieces that are trendy now. I need to help back again because as the owner told us the inventory changes often. That was another treat of the visit, the owner was so friendly and helpful and chatted with us for a while making it the best experience of the day. read more

I loved this place! I have been searching for a wonderful, interesting gift for my aunt. The store is very small, but packed with surprises! Everything is for sale from the furniture to the customizable "vintage" signs on the wall. The owners were so nice, and let me put my bags behind the register. Was looking for a place to find used vintage furniture and stumbled across the good reviews of Praha. The store exceeded even my best case expectations. This store is such a nice find for gifts, collectibles and those special pieces for your home or to gift a friend's home. They have an array of furniture, gifts, home accessories and items that speak of Americana and of European influence. The fun of the experience is that each corner in the store has yet another interesting item. I would also mention there is a nice array of gourmet food items throughout the store. Whether antiques items, hostess gifts, eclectic table accessories, or even some vintage items... at a minimum this is a fun store to shop and browse. Do you love vintage mixed with new? Then this place is for you! This little shop is absolutely adorable and perfect for scoring unique and vintage home decor. (From furniture to knick-knacks.) The price range at this store is fantastic. My favorite purchases? An old-school banker's chair, brass mail holder/sorter, and a tripod Directoire Table (among many other awesome finds). This is bar-none the best store in the city. I dont live anywhere near hear but gladly make the treck every couple weeks because its that good. My only complaint is that the last few times I went, during their posted hours, they were closed. It was a collassal waste of time. I've heard this same complaint from a few other people who love the store too. Its really a wonderful store but what good does that do anyone when you can never get in there??? Sorry, I'd give it 5 stars easily but I just came from driving over there on my lunch break and it was closed.....so I wasted my only break of the day. read more

Where to start? My girlfriend and I just moved to Chicago a week ago. We had no furniture, a few clothes, and absolutely no idea of where to start. We spent three days running around asking and looking in a variety of places, before we hit on this place. In a word? Magnificent. The prices are jaw-dropping. The selection is amazing, and Todd and David, the proprietors of the shop, are both amazing people. They gave us every possible help we could have ever asked for, finding us somebody to help refinish a desk, and offering to paint several pieces of furniture we had selected for our apartment. To top it off? They hand-delivered the huge amount of furniture we had purchased and offered to give us a ride back to our place in downtown Chicago! You can't find shops like this anymore, anywhere!
