This was more of a reconnaissance mission because until we have more space we can't buy any furniture, but my fiance follows Vintage Quest on social media so we wanted to check the store out in person today. There's a lot to like, especially if you are into mid century modern: tables, couches, chairs, side and end tables, often with unique finishes, lamps, lots of records, and quite a few rugs! Some of the things are stacked atop each other, so hopefully if you're interested in something on the lowest lever it wouldn't be too hard to unearth. I could spend hours digging around this quirky yet welcoming little shop. We were on our way back from brunch at the Flying Saucer and popped in for a bit and I walked out with several albums. If my vehicle wasn't already packed to the rim with goodies from earlier stops on my roadtrip, I would have left with adorable vintage lawn furniture, lamps, and more. All around, the prices are more than fair even for the most frugal vintage shoppers and the charming and oh-so-helpful gal working made the entire experience one of the best shopping trips that I've had in awhile. The icing on the cake was I scored the following albums and all for $5 each! Valley Of The Dolls Breakfast At Tiffany's 2 Dolly Parton albums Born In The USA - Bruuuuuuuce Elton John's Greatest Hits Coming from Nashville where these would have been snatched up right away and where prices would likely be inflated, I'm now a Vintage Quest fan for life. TIP: Everything in here is in fantastic condition! My friend scored a delightful retro toaster (still functioning!) for $40 that would have sold elsewhere for between $140 - $180. Cute shop full of industrial style hip furniture and mid century madness. I loved the 6 ft long kronenburg beer sign above the counter and the collection of old 50s and. 60s " how to make the prefect cocktail" pamphlets. If metal cabinets like old printers storage cabinets and cool old mailboxes are Needed to complete your hipster palace - be sure it check it out. There's a pop up shop next door and several other antique/ vintage shops along California which will make for a few hour stop. read more

I have fallen in love with all of the things popping up in this area: Spinning J, CC Ferns, all the other places I haven't been yet...and Vintage Quest. This is a small shop offering an eclectic mix of items for resale. I spied mid-century modern glassware, vintage cameras, vinyl, sofas and coffee tables, etc. I was fascinated by a lead crystal cigarette lighter, that thing had to weigh at least a pound! This was no Bic, my friend. My friends and I also had some fun playing around with an old slide viewer. The shop adjoins an art gallery, with constantly rotating works of art and themes. The theme at the time was "zoology" with lots of funky paintings of cats, mice, and a table of bones and "fossils" to look at. The Vintage Quest flavor spills over into here, with a royal blue mid-century modern sofa in the middle of the gallery. The owner, Keith, is a super cool and friendly guy. He even offered us mimosas while we browsed. The basic white bitch in me squealed with delight. Sometimes his gorgeous wife and adorable son stop by too. The day we visited, his son was enthusiastically collecting change for "Feed My Starving Children." I frantically dug through my purse and wallet for change and had to bum some off my friend, but if you saw this kid you couldn't say no either. read more

Vintage Quest is my new favorite vintage store in Chicago. I'd wanted to stop in several times before, but was never over that way when they were open. Yesterday I lucked out. I went there in search of a birthday gift for a dear friend--specifically, some cool vintage glassware. I went in looking for one thing, and I left with that plus some cocktail glasses an end table, and a record. I wanted to buy nearly half the store, but my wallet and lack of space wouldn't let me. This shop is a treasure trove of vintage furniture, glassware, knick-knacks, and vinyl. What's even better is that the owner, Keith, is a hell of a nice guy. He spends time talking to customers and helping them find cool stuff. I will be back, and I'm spreading the word to my friends about this gem of a store. read more

I came in looking for a bookcase and came out with a pair of extremely rare midcentury modern teak chairs made in Japan! I estimate that just one would go for about $1,500. I didn't pay anything close to that. Keith threw in free delivery, too. Man, this little stretch of stores on California is fantastic for serious MCM collectors. read more

Went in looking for nothing and left with a lot and there was more I felt I "left behind". Cool collection of furniture, housewares, vinyl, decorative items, cameras and more. All unique and in good condition. The owner, Keith, was present allowed us time and space to explore but also engaged when we had questions or wanted to know the background of some items. He was also willing to break up a set and allowed me to purchase a camera with the provision that I could get a refund if the camera doesn't work. All in all; very solid spot. I've been present at several flea markets where owner Keith was a vendor, and was impressed by his selection of vintage industrial finds and vinyl records. Now he's got a whole storefront full of em! Every nook and cranny in this shop is filled with fantastic vintage... It's even piled up on top of itself, but in the most organized and aesthetically pleasing way! This shop is a great addition to the neighborhood. I could spend hours in there chatting with Keith (the owner) and picking out records for my husband. The furniture is always spot on, and all the various finds are too much to handle. I find myself drawn to the sets of glassware, awesome lighting selection and the bars he carries. I think every time I venture in there, one of my favorite bars is gone! It's nice to walk into a store that feels welcoming, but also has such a wide variety of fun things to look at. Someday I'll snag my bar before someone beats me to it!!! Definitely worth a visit. read more
