Tom listened to EXACTLY what i wanted (most people told me what i could or couldn't do or 'what ya' really want"...). He took the time to explain the process of the installation but it never felt like he was trying to "sell" me like many other home improvement outfits do with their high pressure sales people. Tom is the guy, he owns the business, runs the business, gives you the quote, shows up at the job site every day and collects the money. Exactly the experience i was looking for. The end result speaks for itself. I would recommend tom and his team to anyone.

I have been trying to get them to come back to the house to replace some of the pavers and to clean and seal the patio for the last two years. Tom has responded to some of our emails and even came to the house to see what work we wanted done. We have asked several times for an estimate and when we can get on their schedule. We have gotten no responses to our requests. The last time we heard from Tom (in September) he said that they couldn't seal the patio when the weather was hot. It's definitely not hot now but we've heard nothing. We are getting the impression that he doesn't really want to do the work. If this is the case, I wish he would tell us that so we can try to find someone who will do the work. This whole situation has been handled very unprofessionally.

Yelp - Suburbia transformed our yard!!!…read more Amazing. Wonderful. Professional. Dedicated. Thorough. Skilled. Offer ways to do it even better. Courteous. Friendly. Helpful. Amazing. ------------ ------------ We discovered Suburbia Hardscape and Landscape a few months ago, thanks to seeing the sign on the pickup truck of owner Mike Kalemis. After a phone call and a visit, we were confident we found the right team to improve our yard - Mike really understood what we were looking for. They did a great job planning improvements in our yard, in the back, in the front, and on the sides. Note: our back yard has a steep hillside with with a 35-40 degree angle. The left side of the yard is level with the main floor of the house, and the right side is level with the lower level of the house... and there is a walkway to provide a smooth walking path from one side to the other. Improvements that Suburbia made to our yard include: - Installing a French drain to move the large volume of water runoff that flows down the hillside - Adding drainage from the end of the gutter and downspouts to the spots away from the house - Replacing the original backyard walkway with one with graduated steps and wonderful lighting, and expanding the original patio; adding a border to the walkway with some sizeable rocks/boulders of Missouri limestone to be a border on the downhill side - Improving the path, at the bottom of the walkway, that leads to our back door - Adding a back yard play space for our dog by installing the same kind of turf that they have at the Ellisville dog park... with one fantastic edging that matches the walkway and keeps the natural grass away... and with odor reducing sand - Adding some steps in another location in the back yard, making it easier to climb the hill to our bird feeders - Adding some hornbeam trees in our side yard, to block the light from shining into some windows when cars drive by - Removing some aging trees and bushes and replacing them with nicer one, including a weeping cherry and a sweet bay magnolia - Providing mulching and edging in the front of the house - Installing mulch and grasses (liriope spicata) to make a border on the one side of the house, between the house and the grass - Seeded additional medium-height grasses in a space beyond our fence, to provide some stability against - Replacing the original, weathered, garden box with a nice new cedar planter box Mike, Arturo and the crew were fantastic. They listened to what our concerns were and really worked to understand how to make our yard better. As they proceeded through the the install, each day, they included us in the process - they shared their plans for the day, they shared what they completed at the end of the day, and during the day they included us in thinking how to make the back yard better - offering options and recommendations and listening to our thoughts. Our yard was a originally welcoming. Our yard is now fantastically awesome!!' The expanded patio and the dog park make the space so much more open and inviting! The lights on the walkway make it safer and more wonderful to look at! Mike and Arturo and team are also able to move sprinkler heads and in-ground water lines and other things in your yard (a valuable skill). (And beyond hardscape and landscape services they also can help maintain your yard with fertilizers, seeding, etc.). The mulch and trees and bushes make the front and sides of the houser more wonderful to look at! Thank you, Arturo, for thinking of the walkway lights! Thank you, Joshua, for the attention to detail installing the other steps! Thank you to Mike and the entire Suburbia team for helping improve our yard - your attention to detail is GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! We moved to our current home in late 2018. One of the features that led us to move was that the back yard opens to woods behind us, and that we had a nice back yard for our dog to play in. That yard has a steep hillside, but it had a nice walk way. Then two big rainstorms led to a big washing away of the smaller rocks used to hold the original walkway together. Add to that some muddy spots in the yard from natural runoff and we needed some help. We elicited bids from a couple companies and

The salesman was abhorrent in every way imaginable, and left my yard in shambles, and unsafe for my children. When I attempted to contact the owner, my messages were all blocked from reaching him. Therefore, I posted a negative business review. Fast forward to that review being posted in Fall 2021. The owner then reached out to me to resolve the matter. The resolution was a small project to update curb appeal (a brick mailbox to match the patio). I was very happy with this consolation!! I removed my negative business review, per owners request, however now it is now summer 2022 and my project has not even taken the slightest step forward. I have had monthly contact the owner seeking updates. I am regularly told "I am working on it...", "let me check on that", and then I hear nothing. This company mislead me in the original project, and then has essentially continued to not deliver on subsequent agreements. My personal experience with this company has included: misleading business practices (the contract I signed was not what was installed), unsafe business practices (exposed trenches and gas lines in my yard for WEEKS), work being done at my house without my consent or approval (I asked for no work to be preformed while we were on vacation...but it was, and it was not what we had agreed upon), never ending excuses, misleading information, so on and so forth. I have been incredibly disappointed by this company for over a year now. Proceed with extreme caution with Suburbia Hardscape and Landscape. It has been upsetting and disappointing *every* step of the way.

Since my house sits on a double lot with an automatic gate, this was a fairly involved project, so I got bids from three different companies before deciding who to hire. Casey Arnold, the owner, stood out from the start. He was personable and easy to work with, and his bid was not only the most competitive of the three but also by far the most detailed. Where the other estimates were vague, Casey's spelled out specifics like post depth, the amount of concrete used, the type of fasteners, and hand-picked lumber. That level of transparency gave me real confidence going into the project. Casey and his crew showed up on time and worked with genuine care throughout -- both tearing out the old fence and installing the new one. They were mindful of my landscaping as well as my neighbor's, and nothing was damaged in the process. The finished fence looks fantastic -- the top line is perfectly level from end to end, which really shows the attention to detail that went into it. The whole job was also completed on schedule. If you're looking for a local, small business that combines fair pricing with real craftsmanship and professionalism, I'd recommend Select Fencing without hesitation.

I let it go at the time, but in hindsight it reflects a lack of attention to detail on the initial installation. I wish I had paid closer attention at the time of install. While the fence looked great at first, multiple issues have come up within six months. There are nails protruding through several areas, some boards were never properly attached, and both gates have repeatedly failed to function correctly--we often have to force them open just to get in and out of the yard. A wooden topper has also come loose and is now flapping in the wind. To their credit, they did respond to my initial concerns, but new problems continue to surface. Taken together, this raises concerns about the overall quality and durability of the work. I would recommend thoroughly inspecting the installation before considering the job complete.
