Would not service a water solar install because they decided to give up the business on pool solar

We researched many companies before deciding to go with Power House. Their pricing was the best. The project is now complete and we are very happy. It took months to receive permission to operate from PGE, the last step. They called and wrote to PGE several times during the waiting process to advocate for us. powerhouse did an excellent job and got our off the grid house up and running, there employees AJ, Anthony , Ryan and the rest of the crew were very responsible and reliable. they were able to link us up with living stone electric for the internal wiring and complete the entire job within 3 weeks. The installation was great but SunPower has been an absolute nightmare to work with. Many of our panels quit working and PowerHouse insisted that there is 24 hour monitoring of the panels - not true. If true, we would have been alerted to a problem. So now we're left with a $5300 True Up bill, along with solar panel monthly payments and SunPower has yet to send out a technician. Definitely shop around - we wish we would have NEVER done business with PowerHouse and SunPower. read more

The solar array at our lake house was severely damaged last winter by a huge snow load. I did a lot of research and was most impressed with the SunPower product. Both the output and guarantee were the best in the industry. I contacted PowerHouse Solar because they were listed as an "elite" SunPower dealer. I couldn't be more pleased with that decision. The owner, Bruce Blake and his sight manager, Garrett came to our home and evaluated our damages. They were thorough, knowledgeable and very professional in their evaluation. After getting approval by the insurance adjusters I gave them the go ahead. Approximately four weeks later they installed the new array and did an outstanding job. The installation took slightly more than one day and included the removal and recycling of the old system and installation of 21 new panels and the required rails by a team of six technicians. All team members were polite and professional and went the extra mile in terms of being helpful and efficient. They actually left the work sight cleaner than when they started! The new system is working exactly as described and should reduce our energy costs to about zero. We have built homes and remodeled over the years which is often fraught with delays and missed deadlines. NONE of that was an issue with PowerHouse Solar. They did everything that was expected and more! If I could give them six stars I would! Thank you for a job well done! read more

We bought our system about a year and a half ago. The figures we were quoted at first were about 71% but after everything is said and done we get only about 50% of our total usage. I have found then very difficult to communicate with and would not refer any one to them. read more

Called and the gal on the phone was so incompetent that I asked for someone else. Got Bruce the 'owner' and he said she is new so I suggested they give her training before setting her loose. Bruce took my information then set a time to come out. His son was to come at 9 am and at 9:10 AM the date of the meeting called asking basic questions so he could prepare a proposal. AMAZING! You are already late and just now want the same information I gave your dad and that you were to use to prepare. Nonetheless, since I heard their product was good, we rescheduled and son came out. There were many things he could not answer regarding our installation so they had their field installer Garret come out and he did some checking on site and was to get back to me ... never heard from him again. A few months later they emailed asking if we wanted to go with them. I was surprised and stated that their pricing was too high. They said they would check with Bruce and get back to me. Then the kept sending emails if I wanted to use them ... Finally after over a month delay they replied on behalf of Bruce that the price may be yet higher. No thank you ... their panels are certainly rated highly but in my experience, there is something missing internally at Powerhouse. read more

I have had such a great experience with powerhouse solar. They have been very professional and catering from the beginning. They helped repair my system that was installed wrong from a former solar company that went out of business. I was pleased they were so willing to help even though it wasn't their problem. I have also had them install a sun tunnel in my kitchen because it is always so dark! What a difference it made! I rarely need to turn on the kitchen light now that I have the sun tunnel natural light. I would high recommend powerhouse solar! read more

My post on Facebook today, November 6, 2014 Ron and I just told a man to get off of our property. Richard Long of Powerhouse Solar was giving us a bid for solar panels this morning. He wanted us to pay him $30,000 to $40,000 to use his very special solar panels that you can not buy anywhere but from him. Everything was real cordial and professional until he said that a company went out of business because of our wonderful President. I asked him if he really thought our president was wonderful? He scoffed and replied that he hated our president, at the same exact precise moment I started rolling my blueprints up and told him he just lost my bid. Ron said told him to get off of our property and keep his politics to himself. As he drove off with his fish decal on the back of his car I thought to myself how can a hater can call themselves a Christian. So no, I do not recommend Power House Solar because he has no business etiquette. read more

I have to say I'm sorry I have to write this. In 2003 we took a chance on Powerhouse Solar. We were Bruce's first customers when he came here from Chico and we were very please with the work. Fast forward to this year and the Zogg Fire. Our Solar system was damaged so we called Powerhouse Solar. I spoke to someone and asked if we could get an estimate and the insurance adjuster wanted them to look at it rather than what was offered which was an email estimate without a visit. He said I'd need Mark for that and he would call me. That was 3 weeks ago. My husband called yesterday and spoke to Rhonda to say we could take an email estimate because we had a new adjuster. She said they were in a meeting and we'd get a call back. That was yesterday morning and again with no response . I'm so disappointed. I have been recommending them for 17 years and now I'm embarrassed I did. read more

Powerhouse has recently replaced a faulty Inverter and relay at the manufacturers expense, and have put forth an honest effort to resolve the existing problems and repair perceived poor customer service/relations. While the system may not work as I expected, it does work - providing plenty of clean PV energy. read more

I like dealing with the owners of companies and that's what you get with this business. I asked for a job quote and the owner showed up to write the proposal. They offer many more services than the name implies. I contracted them to put in a whole-house fan and a gable vent fan in the garage. Great price, prompt, professional installers. Cleaned up all debris from ceiling hole and attic. I plan to use them when I put in solar. read more

I'm writing this review after seven months of operation. Powerhouse wrangled all the permits and installed a clean system. Did an excellent job and I would recommend the company. Have used only 1200 kW of COR power since installation in February. read more

I have recently had the pleasure of doing business with Powerhouse Solar for a solar system on my house in Marysville Ca. The salesman, Jake Beaton, was very helpful in obtaining a lease for my system as my credit was not the greatest and then we had some difficulties with the size of my roof not accommodating the size of system I needed so they did lots of research to obtain me the most production for the size of my roof, The installers, Garrett Rogers and Scott Dyer, were very professional throughout the entire installation process. Good luck with this local company, they are horrible! Spoke to a salesman briefly on the phone, set up an appointment for a follow up call and a home meeting. On the phone the only thing the salesman could tell me about their product was that "we are really expensive"...over and over again. Came time for the follow up call....still waiting after 2 months! Never heard from them again. Called, left messages, NOTHING! It seems these local solar companies are so arrogant that they feel customers should beg them to do business. Ended up going with a different company that actually cared about customer service. read more

Bruce was great to work with, the office kept me up to date on progress of or project and the guys doing the install were extremely professional. On top of the great service, recently got my pg&e bill and it was $10. During this past month it was raining often and I had my hot tub running at it's highest setting. Actually looking forward to running my a.c. this summer and not worrying about a outrageous bill. read more

PowerHouse Solar installed our first system probably seven or so years ago, about three years ago we installed additional panels. In the meantime, the panels (SunPower) were different and we had two different monitoring systems. Recently, Garrett and Mark at PowerHouse was responsive and came out to combine the systems into one monitoring system so we can monitor both as one to track the amount of energy we produce on a daily basis. They were great to deal with, knowledgable and accommodating. They do a professional job and we were quite pleased. I would highly recommend PowerHouse and LOVE having solar/PV with no PG&E bill!! PowerHouse Solar installed my system 10 years ago. It has operated flawlessly and we were totally satisfied with the entire process from estimation through installation. We are now selling our home and an inspector thought there was a problem with how the flashings for the panel mounts were installed. By agreement the problem was cosmetic and stemmed from old technology more than bad work. I was really impressed when Garrett at PowerHouse agreed to fix the problem, even though any warranty on the installation had expired. I can;t say enough about the company. read more

I am beyond satisifed with the new PowerHouse Solar system installed on our rooftop. I met with Bruce and Stew back in December and they spent an entire afternoon with me explaining how SunPower panels are far superior to conventional panels including thier warranty. They were very upfront about when they could get out to install my system - the City of Redding pushed back on their engineering and that created an unexpected delay but Nicole @ PowerHouse kept me fully informed. When the guys showed up they were polite and professional - each night when they left, it was tidy and clean. The work they did is first class and amazing - the power I am producing is fantastic. I am generating well over 50 kw's on a sunny day now. Chris, Mark, John & Harrison did a great and speedy job of repairing squirrel damage to the wires. They knew what to do and got the job done fast. We have had our system for 10 years and this was the first problem. Evidently the squirrels like the taste of rubber. Everyone should have solar and I recommend Powerhouse Solar.Grab your sun rays and make them work for you, other than making the house hot. read more

To the dissatisfied: Take responsibility, you probably did not talk to the salesperson, explain exactly what you needed for a complete solar system. Bruce Blake and his crew have been very professional. The installers and I communicate at every step each day. If have questions, they do not have the answer, someone gets back to me immediately. No, the system I have, to be totally off the grid, is not cheap, you get what you pay for. Our warranties are fabulous. Another company, we almost went with, did not listen to our needs. During a very hot summer, with consecutive days over 100 degrees, the other solar company called wanting our business. When I asked how long would the air conditioners go with the battery back up, he stated, "maybe, two hours max". Immediately called PowerHouse Solar. The permit took the longest. Our panels, front and back, have attracted neighbors to inquire about PowerHouse Solar. The panels blend so well on the roof. PowerHouse Solar is the way to go for clean solar energy. read more

When we did experience a small problem recently, their technician provided outstanding support that allowed us to correct the problem within two hours. We would (and have) highly recommend Power House solar and the installation of PV systems...we are absolutely thrilled with our unit installed by PowerHouse. We just had Bruce and his assistant out to give us an estimate on increasing the capacity (since we have now added a hot tub & like never having a PG&E bill...we want to keep it that way) and installing heat pump water heater. We had Bruce and his crew install our original 3.4Kw Photovoltaic system and inverter on our house 2 years ago & we could not be happier. His company helped us with all the rebate, etc, paperwork & made it very, very easy for us. The crew he had install, which worked over the holidays to make the end of the tax year deadline, were professional, nice and very pleasant young men. Both of us have worked in the California desert, where we managed organizations with PV/Solar and were off-grid. We have extensive experience in dealing with batteries and generators and know the inherent issues that are simply present in those systems...that's why we are thrilled we are tied into the grid and don't have to worry about the extra. My husband is always showing people his iPad/iPhone app that give an instant readout to the amount of power currently generating by our system. read more
