    Check engine light
    Raquel M.

DO NOT BUY HERE! SOLD ME A DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. Poway Honda is supposed to be a reputable business. I purchased a 2023 Chevrolet Suburban Premier Duramax with 83,927 miles on Tuesday 5/19/26, with $20,000 down cash. Seven days later shortly after driving a little over 100 miles the check engine light populated at 94,142 miles. I have contacted Tyree Jones the Finance Manager who finalized the sale, with zero responses. I reached out to Elizabeth Rodriguez, who sold me the vehicle, and she's just pushing it off on her managers. The following morning I took the vehicle down to my local Chevrolet Service Center to be diagnosed. Per GM the Suburban purchased a week ago needs the following replaced: Second Catalytic converter without filter, gasket, clamp, nuts, seal. Greg a manager I got on the phone on Thursday 5/28/26 was extremely rude didn't offer an apology on the current issue with the vehicle. He stated " You're a consumer in California, you are a liable as soon as you drive off the lot". I asked for the diagnostics report he stated they ran when Poway Honda purchased the vehicle and he said," We'll try and get that over to you, you should have received it at the time of purchase" which I did not and I am still waiting for them to send me that report. Reputable auto dealers do right by their consumers, Poway Honda does not.

Just bought a "new to us" Odyssey minivan, and we drove all the way from LA to Poway Honda. We had a great experience from start to finish. They gave us a great deal on the Odyssey and a fair amount for our trade-in. No car-buying process is ever really quick, but this was one of the fastest and easiest experiences we've had. Erica was our sales representative and was fantastic throughout the process--even answering a text from me late in the day. Greg handled most of the deal and was friendly, straightforward, and easy to work with. Lastly, Tyree was our finance person. He was quick, efficient, and did a great job explaining all the paperwork while making sure everything was completed to our satisfaction. We drove the Odyssey all the way back to LA in 90+ degree heat with the AC blasting, and it didn't miss a beat. Overall, a great experience with Poway Honda, and I'd definitely recommend them.

    The metal protector came off

I know dealerships often overcharge, but I never imagined that fixing an exhaust system issue could endanger my family. My ordeal began in May when I took our Odyssey to Poway Honda for a P0430 error code. At the time, the catalytic converter was still under Honda's 8-year warranty. The dealership only told me the fuel injectors were fine and performed a software update, without addressing the real cause of the issue. They also claimed the coolant level was low and quoted me several hundred dollars for a refill. Skeptical, I checked the coolant myself at home--it was perfectly fine. Given my past experiences, I wasn't surprised by their actions. Fast forward to November, I returned to Poway Honda for the same error code. This time, they identified a catalytic converter issue, but by then, my vehicle was no longer under warranty. They replaced the converter on December 6, 2025, and I picked up the car on December 8. Four days later, during a family camping trip, we heard a loud noise from underneath the car, just 100 miles after picking it up. The metal protector had come loose! (See attached picture.) The mechanic either used the wrong parts for the three front holes or he didn't fasten them tightly enough. A kind stranger helped us remove the protector completely. This wasn't just unprofessional; it was downright unsafe. We were in a desert area with miles of roads lacking adequate shoulders--mostly narrow, unpaved, and uneven. In such conditions, pulling over upon hearing a loud noise could lead to further damage. The detached protector could act like a shovel, displacing dust and rocks, and potentially damaging the vehicle's undercarriage, leaving us stranded with the vehicle partly on the road due to narrow shoulders. We would have faced a wait of hours, if not overnight, for a tow truck--with no cell reception in the area. We were incredibly lucky. The incident occurred near a small community where we found a safe spot and received help from a local with tools. Had this happened 10 seconds earlier or later, the outcome could have been drastically different. With two kids in the car, I can't imagine what we would have done if we were stuck in the middle of nowhere waiting for help. When I confronted Poway Honda about this, they claimed that plastic clips are Honda standard--something I found hard to believe given the original washer marks and online videos I've seen. They also denied removing the protector, despite the service video clearly showing it was removed. With all this misinformation and shoddy work, my trust in their service is shattered. I'm genuinely worried about letting them service my car again. If you're considering getting service here, do yourself a favor and think twice. Your vehicle's safety--and your peace of mind--are worth it.

Rhodel!! He was so nice and made the whole process so easy. Thank you for taking care of me and all my car needs!

Arlene was my sales person. She did a nice job. She's still fairly new to the car business about a year into it. I had 20 years in the car business, so I'm not a normal buyer. Ryan the finance manager took care of that part, did a good job, I had my own financing so it wasn't really an issue for me. The whole experience wasn't that bad, but they could've done a lot more to make the Ford F150. I bought more presentable. There was even dirt on the floor of the cab, and dirt and debris in the bed of the pick up. The whole experience wasn't terrible and Arlene was a good sales person, I wasn't buying a new car, but I don't expect a used vehicle to look as dirty and is unkempt as it looked when I got mine delivered at the dealership. Overall, just an average experience. If you wanna buy a car here, ask for Arlene, she'll take good care of you.

This hipster bearded guy at the parts sales desk would treat you like if you were stupid if you don't agree with anything he says. "Coolant has never been under 30 since years" Go to Chula Vista, better prices and customer service.

I've confirmed that Poway does include some discount that wasn't an option at Escondido. Don't expect much, but even 500 is better than zero. Escondido lost a sale because of their inflexible policy. Negotiating is a pain at most dealerships. Toyota of Poway is no exception. Do not listen to any price or offer until you get their out the door breakdown. The sales guy was saying all sorts of reasons why he's getting us a better deal, but closer inspection proved that there were some bogus upsells tacked into the price (their equivalent to a LoJack security system) that was snuck on their "out the door price". This was NOT on the car's sticker price.. That was used as a negotiation ploy to make you think you're saving $1200 when they take it off the total price.. Did a lot of research on the truck, originally a WA title, then MT, then CA. Beach Cities Toyota of Westminster had this very same VIN number truck for sale for ~$46,800. It's been sitting in their lot until Pedder Hyundai bought it and advertising close to $49k. Then they lowered the price, then put it back up. I initially texted PAUL the salesman that if we can start working some numbers out while I was at work, and he basically told me no and to come in, which I did. Thank you to Tim, the finance manager, for finding great financing and taking the time to customize a warranty that fit my needs instead of trying to sell me something I didn't want. And a special thank you to Jayson for going above and beyond to earn my business. He gave me one of the most competitive deals and repeatedly reminded me that if the numbers didn't work for me, I was free to walk away. That's the least pressure I've ever felt buying a vehicle, and it's something every consumer should remember--you can always walk away. The biggest surprise? My 8-year-old and 12-year-old daughters spent nearly five hours at the dealership with no kids' area and both left saying it was "the best time ever." That says everything about the hospitality and atmosphere the team created. We drove home in our brand-new 2026 Pathfinder SL feeling excited instead of exhausted. And with the amazing competitive deals made I for the first time ever woke up with 0 buyers remorse anxiety! One final note: after I purchased my vehicle, Mossy Nissan El Cajon called to say they could beat the deal by another $500--after previously requiring financing and expensive warranty purchases to get their pricing. By then, my decision had already been made. Price matters, but honesty, consistency, and how you're treated matter even more. Thank you, Mossy Nissan Poway, for earning our business. I called in a few times over the last year to check the status of the recall parts and on the very last call (a few weeks ago), I was told that my name was never added to the wait list but that they had the parts in stock to repair my vehicle. I was upset and happy at the same time but I ended up making an appointment to have the A-pillar repair done along with two other recall repairs done the following week. On the day of the appointment, I got to the dealership as soon as the service department opened and was offered an Uber to get me to work.
