Rip off! I found out my insurance will cover my crown in Jan (next month). To avoid having to pay over $1000, I requested moving it to Jan. Dr. Rich is charging me $200 to move the appt. Zero grace. So disappointing. I do NOT recommend Dr. Rich. I will look for a new dentist. read more

I don't know how to even speak highly enough about this office. The dentist office has always been a scary place to me. But as soon as I walked in, Lindsey greeted me and was so sweet. Then I went back and met w June who was equally as sweet and amazing and guided me through everything she was going to do and made sure I was ok through the whole process. Then Dr. Rich came in. He noticed I was nervous and wanted to know how he could make me more comfortable and went over a treatment plan. It actually felt like he wanted to help me! They were all so sweet and amazing. I'm actually excited to go back to the dentist!! Definitely give this office a chance! You won't be disappointed and they will take care of you. I would give 10 stars if I could. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Cook since I was a teenager, and she took very good care of me and my TMJ issues - basically resolving them. She has since retired, and so I have been under the care of Dr. Rich somewhat recently. In the short time that I have been his patient, I have been treated with the same level of outstanding dental and customer care. What is prompting me to finally make this review is Dr. Rich and his team's outstanding show of customer care - described below. As of writing this review, I am out-of-state on a short trip. I experienced sudden issues with my submandibular glands, causing me extreme worry and anxiety. I contacted Dr. Rich directly and asked if he would be able to talk about the issues and advise me - basically a call for help. I made it known that the nearest clinic is 3hrs away. He responded in a very timely manner (given I contacted him at 6am PST!), talked things out, advised on steps to resolve the issues, and worked with Lyndsay to issue me an antibiotic prescription right away that I was able to pick up at the nearest CVS to me basically immediately. I could not express my appreciation enough. I have been taking the steps advised by Dr. Rich, along with the antibiotics, and my submandibulars are already showing slight signs of improvement. I want to make it very clear that I'm not trying to say that Dr. Rich miraculously cured my issues over the phone. That is not the point. If the issues persist and are not fully resolved (I plan to see Dr. Rich when I'm back in CA if things have not gotten better), the point is that Dr. Rich and Lyndsay showed me the highest level of customer care that I could ever expect from a Dental practice. They actively helped me even when I'm out of state. I also want to shoutout Kristina and Berenice for always taking great dental/customer care of me there in the office. read more

Went here once for an initial cleaning/new patient exam. From the beginning, I felt very uncomfortable. The waiting area was a madhouse with people waiting to be checked in. I think their office absorbed patients from another office, including my prior dentist. Even though my prior dentist had nothing recommended for me to address, Dr Rich had SIX teeth of mine that needed crowns, new fillings, you name it. Nope, unnecessary treatment. Never went back. And my new dentist (where I continue to go) has recommended no treatment as well. Maybe Dr Rich is ultra conservative, but it definitely felt like an upsell and that the office was heavily interested in unnecessary work. "Observation and monitoring" is often a better treatment path. read more

I am 89 years old, have no teeth. My upper denture broke so I came to get it fixed that I can eat and to get a new denture. it was difficult for me to come to the office because of my age but I had to come because I can not eat without dentures. Unfortunately the doctor refused to fix the dentures or make new dentures, instead he insisted I need to do costly CT scan and many other exams and he will not even consider fixing my denture at todays appointment and it is not a concern that I can not eat. Stay away from this office, all they care is how to make more money by insisting on unnecessary exams, they do not care about patients well being. read more

If you have the money and not worried about there overpriced and completely rude staff please make an app. I paid this place 6,000 plus whatever they got from my Insurance co, only to leave me with no tooth A broken piece of plastic for a fake tooth that lasted one day, and he told me he's never seen anyone grind there teeth , Well too much to say about this neglectful office to ones needs , who paid him cash for the procedure , and was left with the worst Infection in your mouth , I was rushed to the ER over it , when I told them this I was issued a check in the mail for pennies and told he can no longer help me , hahhHh WOW , I didn't know what to do , he just took every penny I had in the bank and kefr me with this infection , Well I am just one case of Mapractice, It was bad enough to file a complaint to the American Dental Ass. I hope your visit goes better than mine Best , read more

Well let me start with his coordinator , She lied to my 81 year old mother about a pst due amount of 1000.00 that had to be paid before the 911 could be done after I had already been on a payment plan with the bill, The procedure was almost 6000.00 dollars so a total of close to 7000.00 would need to be paid. My mother not knowing I was already on a payment plan paid the bill. She completely lied just to get the money!!! So the guy who removed my broken tooth immediately and With out taking an x-ray to make sure it was all removed he put an implant in there, and gave me a cheap piece of plastic called flipper , knowing I have a grinding my teeth issue the flipper broke on the second day, and an Instant infection had started and the pain was so extreme i had to go to the emergency room at 2:00 AM in the morning, this just so happened to happen on a Sat so when I called his emergency number he told me he was up north and couldn't see me until Mon, now with a massive infection and no tooth I was having the most unbearable pain for 2 days. They called me in on Tue and told me they have never seen a flipper break, hahah that was the biggest lie I ever heard , so they replaced it the next day but meanwhile the pain in my mouth is so extreme that I was not able to work , sleep, eat, even think!! Well the Infection actually unscrewed the implant and pushed it out, Once again he told me he has never seen that happen!! So the second flipper he told me I was allowed to get 1 replacement of the flipper , the second one broke the following day, the pain in my mouth was so unbearable that he couldn't even touch my mouth to install the flipper. I received a letter from him 2 days later saying his office was no longer able to provide services for me , so now I was left with a gap in the front of my mouth a massive infection, And my self esteem literally ruined, I work almost 200 people on a daily basis and could not look at anyone with no tooth in the front of my mouth, Now broke , no tooth, no Implant, no flipper, and down almost 7000.00 dollars i emotionally did not know what to do with myself. I thought Dentist signed a Life contract that they are sworn to be of service to people and to help people with Dental problems, That's what his credentials say. Well after having to contact the BBB and the state Dental board and the Courthouse , this is what I was left with! Thank you to all the staff and whoever this gentlemen is that calls himself a certified dentist. Unbelievable, read more

Avoid this place. Unnecessary services resulting in denied claims, Poor quality, worse customer service. They put a crown on a tooth that had no pain and did not need a crown. Now the tooth has minor pain and is overly sensitive to temperature. After paying thousands out of pocket for a procedure that my insurance reviewed and deemed unnecessary, the dentist sent me monthly bills that go from $100 to $683 without any explanation on the bill. Months later, I receive the denied claim/adverse determination letter from my insurance. When asked about the denied claim and the increasing bills, dentist receptionist tells me there is nothing else they can do and tells me to work with my insurance company. read more

After spending an uncomfortable time at an HMO dentist, I came to Dr. Rich for a second opinion and assessment of my dental situation. The first thing that caught my attention was the dental practice itself; it was clean, welcoming and the staff were friendly. I was attended to quickly, taken into a small room for x-rays that were immediately available for viewing on a computer screen. When Dr. Rich arrived, he evaluated my x-rays, showing me exactly where the issues were on a faulty crown I had and a fractured tooth. He was easy to talk to, informative and provided me with what felt like an objective evaluation of my dental situation; answering each of my questions in detail. As this was my first appointment here, he checked over my teeth, he did so with care and was apologetic at any discomfort I endured. When he was done, he gave me a full assessment and treatment plan; referring me to nearby dental surgeons that he trusted. In the crown I had mentioned, I had recently had a root canal done with temporary filling. During his examination, he noticed the filling had almost all gone and so he refilled it with a stronger, longer lasting filling; free of charge. Furthermore, at the front desk, they waived the charge for the entire appointment, despite our willingness to pay; an unexpected and kind gesture. Overall, Dr. Rich is a great dentist; he was friendly, knowledgeable and generous with his time. My appointment with him put me at ease and there was never a point where I felt like he was trying to push unnecessary work. I highly recommend Dr. Rich and his practice for their professionalism, approachability and welcoming environment. read more

Updated review: We have been going to Poway Dental Arts for over 5 years and adore Christina, their hygienist as well as their former receptionist, Kirsten. Kirsten ran that office like a fine oiled machine and when she left a couple years ago, things started to go down hill in my opinion. The new receptionist is unfriendly, unresponsive to patient requests and very forgetful (forgets that you're on hold, forgets to have calls returned, etc). It's amazing how the dynamics of the office changed after one person left but I guess that shows you how important it is to hire the right office manager. We kept going as I liked most of the staff and felt they provided quality care for my family and I. Unfortunately, however, I recently removed (about 4 months ago) my entire family from Poway Dental Arts after my husband had a poor experience during his last appointment. His appointment time was for 8AM so he expected to be taken back at 8. He arrived several minutes early. He had to get to work after and that's why he took the first appointment of the day figuring there would be no delays. No one was at the front desk to greet him or check him in so he took a seat. He heard all the staff's voices in an office laughing, talking, etc at 8:05. He calls out, "hello? Anyone there?". Finally, the receptionist's head popped out along with the dentist and said "we're having our morning meeting and we'll be with you shortly." Several more minutes pass and my husband grew more agitated and tried to let the staff know they should not make an 8AM appointment if they have an 8AM staff meeting. He felt like his time was not valued as they could have started their staff meeting at 7:45. My husband, after 25 years in the military as a commander in charge of thousands of other soldiers, does not get riled up or rattled easily but it was the WAY the staff responded with a nonchalant attitude that finally caused him to raise his voice and walk out without getting his teeth cleaned. He felt they did not even try to acknowledge why he was frustrated but rather they made him out to be the unreasonable one for expecting to be seen at 8:00 for an 8:00 appointment! Things did not improve trying to get our records transferred to a new dentist. My husband made an initial request to have the family's records transferred to another dentist and the receptionist said she would take care of it. Knowing my son and I had a cleaning coming up in June, I sent out another e mail and was again told it would be done. Well, my son and I arrived to our new dentist just last week for our cleaning, their receptionist asked us if we had our records transferred to them and surprised I said they should have been a long time ago. She said no, they received nothing for my son and I and only my husbands' records. So I called Poway Dental Arts and e mailed on the spot and demanded the records be transferred and the receptionist said they had never received a request for my son and I!!!! I told her I know I sent one and who transfers only ONE member of a family over to a new dentist! Come on! Even the receptionist at our new dentist said she had made a request for our records previously as well but they never responded. Finally, after all this drama, the records were transferred. I am glad we made the decision to leave as my experience just trying to get a simple thing like records transferred proves to me that the office is not being well managed at all. I hate to leave a poor review after years of quality care but Dr. Rich did not even try to reach out and make things right or inquire as to what really happened. He just watched my husband walk right out the door. Not a call or e mail or anything to try and keep our family's business or make things right. Sad after so many years. read more

Dr. Rich and his staff are fantastic, they all care so much about their patients. I was blown away by the way they helped my and took care of all my needs. I would recommend Dr. Rich's practice to anyone I know! After a horrible experience at a previous office in Escondido with dental work, a coworker recommended Poway Dental Arts. My encounter with the staff like Kirsten and Joseph were so kind and very helpful. read more

Dr. Rich and his staff are friendly, helpful, and experienced. My older son just finished Invisalign and we are thrilled with the results. My youngest son and I just started our Invisalign treatments. Dr. Rich went over the Invisalign video with me very thoroughly and answered my many questions. The office staff have been very helpful in scheduling the office visits for my son and me so that we can go at the same time. Also, they accommodate his school schedule by giving me afternoon appointments so that he doesn't miss school. Additionally, Dr. Rich is very honest. I took my third son to another dentist who recommended $5,000 worth of braces. Dr. Rich examined my son and determined he didn't need braces. I trust his opinion. I also trust his skill. My previous dentist botched a tooth filling, which resulted in me needing a root canal and several procedures after that to correct the root canal. When Dr. Rich saw this tooth, he noticed that the crown was already cracked (after only 2 years) and needed replacing. I was very scared of the pain I had experienced with my previous dentist. However, Dr. Rich showed me the images, explained why I needed the repair, and did a fantastic job. He did a much better job with the novocaine injection and I was pain free during and after the procedure. One of the best things about this office is that they send office visit reminders via email and text. This makes sure you don't miss a visit. read more

I was a patient of another dentist who sold her practice to Dr. Rich 3 or 4 years ago. I've been using Dr. Rich since then. I like how their office uses internet for confirmations and appointments. His staff is always very nice and accommodating to me. They all know me and about me, which I like. Dr. Rich's work has always been good and he makes sure I am as comfortable as possible. I'm very pleased with Poway Dental Arts and would not consider going elsewhere. read more

I was referred to Dr. Rich from a co-worker. It's nice to hear her rave about her dentist as we also share the same insurance with the company we work for so I have an idea of their coverage. I needed a check up since it's been 2 yrs I had any exams or work done and because I didn't have insurance at the time. Upon my appointment, I was greeted by Michelle the receptionist and who deals with the billing and insurance information. She's very informative and let's you know ahead of time what you are coming in for and how much the costs looks like. I like that if you are concerned about something with your insurance, right on the spot she'll call them rather than say "I'll let you know" or "call you back". She is very responsive through email outside business hours during the weekend and responds within a day. The dentistry is very flexible with monthly payments although they do have interest plans or a flat rate plan without interest. I am glad that they have these options either way because stressing about any large bills is always a stress. Dr. Rich made me feel comfortable each visit and his team are so friendly and reassuring. They make sure I am doing fine during each procedure. Which by the way I had laser gum treatment and fillings done. I also had a chipped crown so they put a composite on until I plan to do a full porcelain crown in the future. With my teeth, I also have 3 wisdom teeth so they referred me to a specialist and suggested to get braces because my chipped crown would obstruct my bite. They didn't pressure me to remove my wisdom teeth or get braces right away since I don't feel any pain right now and the braces aren't an absolute necessity. So I am glad that I can wait out with these options with no pressure. They are 30 minutes away from where I live and I honestly don't mind the trip. My procedures were more than I expected this year but honestly I wish I had them as my dentist earlier in my life so I would avoid all the dental work and cost, so it is very important to take care of your teeth!!! I even converted over to an automatic toothbrush and it completely changed my dental hygiene habits! They are a great staff that takes care of you! Highly recommend! read more

I went to see Dr. Peter Rich in Poway for some cavities I needed filled, in September 2019. He told me I needed about $8000 worth of work done on my teeth. His pricing is on the extreme high end; $290 for one cavity filling seems his standard price. I went to another reputable dentist to get a second opinion. I will not be going back to see Dr. Rich. There were some red flags I observed. It seemed many of his staff had turned over, and a lot of new people working there. They weren't all that friendly when I walked in they just stared at me and didn't greet me. His assistants seemed phony, not genuinely nice. Dr. Peter Rich himself was giving me a hard time, prying about my life and why my teeth had decayed in such a manner. He was saying it really loudly so everyone can hear, and I felt embarrassed and put on the spot like I was being interrogated. I felt very uncomfortable. Then I asked his receptionist to email me some copies of my xrays. She told me she would send it to me the following day. A week goes by, and I don't get it. So I call, and she puts me on hold, and I wait for 10 minutes. I call back and say "Did you forget you put me on hold?" She says "Yes", and gives me a brief and insincere apology. It was a hassle just to get my xrays. Also, Dr. Rich had said that he would call my periodontist to discuss my procedure before he gave me a final estimate. He never did call my periodontist. This, and a couple more major red flags plus the extreme high pricing and insensitive manner made me not want to return. read more

He puts his patients first and takes time to explain dental procedures. He is exceptionally patient and has a great sense of humor! If not for Dr. Rich, I would have taken a very, very different dental treatment route and I can't thank him enough for offering the advice and education with regard to improving my overall oral care routine - it saved me future discomfort as well as money! From the friendliest staff to a brilliant doctor, this is certainly an irreplaceable dental team. Thanks to everyone at Poway Dental Arts! read more

My crown broke this past week. My tooth was exposed so I called Dr. Rich to see if he could quickly fix my porcelain crown. Dr. Rich was able to immediately fit me into his busy schedule and actually offered me same day service. My schedule did not permit it so I took a slot the next day. This guy is amazing. Not only was his work incredibly precise and thorough, he was able to manufacture the restoration IN-HOUSE. Last time I got a crown installed, they had to take a mold of the tooth, install a temporary, then wait two weeks for an outside lab to manufacture the porcelain crown. This guy has the coolest and latest technology and was able to do ALL the work same day, no mold, no gooey stuff in the mouth, no waiting 2 weeks. Dr. Rich is fantastic. I highly recommend his services. Just amazing. read more

I would recommend Dr. Rich's practice to anyone I know, and that's saying quite a bit of you've ever read some of my other reviews! After a horrendous experience at a previous office with Invisalign and other dental work, a friend recommended Poway Dental Arts. Dr. Rich is incredible and straightforward. I met with 10 other dental offices to transition to because my first dentist was THAT awful. They use the latest technology in the dental field (3D X-rays/imaging, an off-site imaging center vs. molds for Invisalign, lasers). The staff is so kind and willing to work with a tough and critically harsh patient like me! :p Kirsten, the office manager, deals with all my crap and manages to keep a smile through it... and their hygienist Christina(?) is hilarious and the most efficient teeth cleaner I've ever met honestly. did I mention they're all sooo kind?! The customer service here is ~stellar~ and I feel bad for all the chumps that dread their dental visits or shy away from the dentist altogether because they're afraid of what they'll find. Like, today I left with chocolate-dipped fruit to celebrate the opening of their new location off Monte Vista road. I actually look forward to coming here sometimes! Now, if they had character stickers or balloons I'd probably show up every day.... :p read more

I'm glad to see all these positive reviews here, because they reflect our experience as well! We found Dr. Rich's office through a lucky coincidence: My husband had a root canal done next door. He stepped into Poway Dental Arts and Dr. Rich was able to give him a generous comprehensive consultation on the spot, on behalf of our son who needed braces. His opinion was very valuable, even though eventually we didn't go with Invisalign for our teenager. This first introduction really created a bond of trust. Communication is such a big part of being a good doctor. Since then, Dr. Rich had taken care of my own and my husband's complicate dental needs in a variety of ways. Even though we don't live that close to his office, it has become a great resource. Dr. Rich made a connection for us to an excellent oral surgeon whom he is working closely with. Since we trusted his judgement, we went with it and were glad we did. Dr. Rich just completed the reconstruction for an implant for me and I'm thrilled with the results. You can't tell which tooth is the crown and I felt in very good hands with the process. We also had regular cleanings & teeth whitening done at his office. So basically, if you're looking for a dental provider, look no further & give them a call! read more

Dr. Rich and his staff are nothing short of amazing. From everyone in the front, especially their office manager Michelle, to the assistants and the hygienists. I came in for a cleaning and having not been to the dentist in quite a while, I was expecting that they'd tell me I needed a lot of work or recommend a lot of expensive procedures. I ended up only needing a filling. The hygienist did an amazing and thorough job while doing my cleaning and when it was time for the doctor to do my filling, he walked me through the entire process and made sure I was comfortable and at ease. He also kept checking on me to make sure I was doing well. If you are looking for an exceptional, caring, and honest dentist, I'd highly recommend Dr. Rich and his staff. read more

Poway dental arts is amazing! I originally went to see them after I found an Invisalign special advertised in a local magazine. From the moment I walked into the door, I have been incredibly impressed by the professionalism and honesty that Dr. Rich and his staff exhibit. I have received excellent care and Dr. Rich always takes extra time to explain the "how" and "why" of his recommended treatment. He always listens to my concerns and does not push treatments that I'm not comfortable with. I have been especially blown away by Dr. Rich's integrity. I was originally quoted an amount for the second phase of my Invisalign treatment. When the time for the treatment came, I was informed that it would actually cost "less" than originally quoted since some of the work was simpler than anticipated. I never would have known the difference and they could have easily charged me the original price. Never before have I had a dentist with such honesty and concern for his patients. I found Dr. Rich at the Poway street fair almost two years ago and I'm very fortunate I did. I was currently looking for somewhere to get my teeth straightened. I went to many orthodontists and was told Invisalign wouldn't work for my teeth because they are so bad and it would take surgery and braces costing me over $8k, so I was on hold waiting for a less pricy and painful way to fix my teeth. Dr. Rich was just want I needed. He looked at my teeth and immediately knew he could help me and Invisalign should work. I got started right away and every time I go to his office (about every 4-6 weeks to get new Invisalign) I feel important and well taken care of. The staff is great, always in a good mood and doing everything they can to make the experience perfect. Dr. Rich is a professional and knows everything about teeth. I've never been more satisfied with any business, than this dentistry. Dr. Rich has saved me thousands and made my fear of dentists go away. As I finish up my treatment soon, I'll be disappointed I won't be going into his practice as often. Highly recommended. read more

We found Poway Dental Arts and Dr. Rich through Groupon! We just finished our last visit with them today (and will try and find reasons to go back and visit). My daughter was a senior in high school and felt very self-conscious of her "jacked up teeth". Personally they weren't that bad, but they were to her. Dr. Rich explained in detail about Invisalign braces and how they would be totally straight in less than a year. Using the Propel method, her teeth totally straightened out and she completed the treatment program in 7 months!! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend Poway Dental Arts...as a matter of fact, I am going in for my own Invisalign braces soon. read more
