I'll admit, I'm rather biased when it comes to pizza. My ex-boyfriend's family owns another local pizza joint. I do love their pizza, and it's a great value. Despite this, I appreciate Potomac Pizza for its quality product, great customer service, close ties to the community, and proximity to my place. My favorite items include the meat pizza, chicken tenders, garlic rolls, and cannolis. I tend to be a rather mindful eater and picky about how I expend my "cheat meal" passes, but I really enjoy this pizza, and I usually order pickup once or twice a month. The rewards program is fair, and I do benefit from being a regular customer. It's always nice to see a friendly face, especially in this era of physical distancing. Recommended. read more

When you're looking to satisfy that traditional pizza crave I would recommend this place. They are fast and affordable. The crust was perfectly done and the sauce on the pizza had great flavor. I do enjoy artisanal pizzas most often, but no complaints from me and would order from here next time. read more

I come here once every blue moon, because the convenience of it's location (walking distance from my job). The pepperoni pizza slice which I regularly get it's ahhhh, okay. Average for the most part, however the atmosphere is inviting and the staff is great. Today I got something new, a slice of pizza with 3 toppings- chicken, spinach and feta for $3.69. Yum, it's really fulfilling and the flavors are nice and perfect together. Would recommend for anyone in the Chevy Chase, Bethesda area for quick pizza! read more

This is hands down the best pizza spot in the dc area. Ignore the idiot reviews on here, clearly they're snobs. The menu is amazing and every item is consistently delicious. Very kid friendly and great beer/wine menu for mom and dad! The staff is friendly and fast and you can even bring your dog and sit outside! Only a fool would go elsewhere. read more

I like the pizza here a lot, crust is thin and not too chewy, the way I like it. I do find that if you buy by the slice, the size of the slice is very small for the price. But if you buy a whole pizza, the slices are good size. read more

Dropped in after an appointment a couple weeks ago for a bite and didn't realize it was all table service and not quick service. I looked at the menu and saw spinach and ricotta and said I'll take two slices. So, maybe I didn't look closely but I expected white pizza and not two slices of cheese pizza with an icky spinach and cheese whiz like topping. Was hungry and I scraped the topping off and ate some of the lukewarm pizza. Wasn't asked about my liking of the food and I was too tired to comment on the quizzical nature of their "topping" process. All in all, if you have kids, it's a nice atmosphere for families and large groups. Maybe stick to a regular cheese pizza... that seems like a safe bet. read more

Not sure why this place only has 3 stars. We came to Potomac pizza to grab a bite to eat after checking into our nearby hotel. It was close to closing, so the place was not super busy. Staff was very friendly and made great recommendations. We ordered an individual pizza, a sandwich, and a salad. Everything tasted great and the salad ingredients were fresh. So, I did finally check out the pizza... Nope. I was hoping that would be good, as I went it, picked it up etc... I skipped the delivery as that is what made my meal so bad last time. So, with tax, almost $14 for a small 8" white pizza that was greasy and the crust tasted days old, like how pizza crust is all hard and chewy after it's been in the fridge a night or two and you go grab a cold leftover slice for breakfast... yeah, chewy like that. Needless to say, I waited 7 years to give this place another shot, and was shot down. Even the pizza at the Amazon Fresh next door would have been a better option. read more

After many years avoiding this place because of past problematic experiences, but I let my teenage kids talk me into going last night. Never again. I love pizza and am not usually picky but this place upsets my stomach every time, so I get something else. Per usual, my son had to use a napkin to slop up the grease off his pizza before eating. My greek salad was so so sad. My daughter had pasta with red sauce, which I had a bite of -- yuck. My son's boyfriend's mexican pizza? I felt ill just looking at it. Just don't. read more

Delivery was fast. Pizza and pasta was alright though pizza a bit greasy for our taste. But they delivered it all to our hotel room without napkins or forks for the pasta in the bag. Who travels and packs forks and napkins?? My daughter ate her pasta with her hands. And we used toilet paper for napkins. They should spend an extra 10 cents per order and help their hotel customers out. I'd rate 2.5 if that was an option. read more

Decent pizza place, but nothing special. It's conveniently locates next to Busy Bees, so it's a good choice when the kids want to stop for lunch. The service was ok, but honestly they seemed more focused on the Liverpool game than the diners. Food came out in four separate passes. The calzone I had was ok- huge portion but could have been in the oven a little longer to let the cheese really melt. It had way too much ricotta in it anyway. Sauce was on the bland side and could have used some serious black pepper. Prices here aren't great either. But the kids quickly ate most of the pizza so it worked in the end. read more

I generally love Potomac Pizza. My coworkers and I eat there often; however today when I called and placed a delivery order around 12:30pm there was a girl that answered. Not only was she short with me but hung up before I was done with my order! So I called and brought it to her attention and her only response was "oh you weren't done!" No apology nothing! I understand sucks to work on the weekend but all I have to say in response is "you don't like your job; QUIT!" That was a major turn off for me. read more

Order took 2 hours to deliver to Bethesda metro office building. Pizza was cold, not even close to being fresh. The box was obviously turned on its side back when it WAS hot, since the toppings of cheese and pepperoni were in the corner of the box, congealed. I am outraged. This is terrible and unacceptable. Edit: The owner called me personally and apologized for the pizza mess, and gave me a full refund and additional credit to make the situation right. As angry as I was in the moment, I do look forward to ordering pizza in the future since I do think it tastes great! read more

Online ordering. Quick delivery. The keystones of a successful takeout operation right there. Dominos will give you two pizzas for $10, so getting one pizza for $22 like you will here isn't exactly a steal, but I did get four toppings (pepperoni, basil, spinach, garlic), and they loaded that bad boy up. Very generous with the toppings. Seriously, every bite will take you on a journey through flavor country. I also got an order of jalapeno poppers, which had a nice deep fry to them with breading that didn't fall apart with the first bite - I hate places that can't fry stuff up competently. The pepper was great, but I'm not crazy about their mix of cream and cheddar cheeses. Just stick to the cream, says this observer. Bottom line: it's a balance between great taste and a way too high price for pizza. I'd definitely recommend it, though. read more

Tucked among fashonista destination stores like Gucci and Jimmy Choo, I found this pizzeria. Nothing about the decor inside was unremarkable with its stone tables and bay windows that faced the street. It is a family owned place with all locations currently in Maryland. Pizza wise- it was pretty good. The dough is hand tossed, and it is tasty and chewy. Perhaps to appeal to the clientele of the aforementioned boutique stores, the dough and sauce that Potomac uses is non- fat. There is even a "Guilt Free Pizza" on the menu, basically a veggie pizza with no cheese. The prices for a full pie reflect the neighborhood. A large three cheese pizza is sixteen bucks while their version of a supreme pizza is twenty one dollars. The calzones, which are also good here, are just $9 which seems like a bargain in comparison. read more

Hands down the best pizza place in DC. It's deliciously good, as close to NY Pizza you can get! They offer a really good deal for a slice at $2.99 and $3.50 for three toppings. My favorite toppings are extra cheese, spinach and pineapple. They also serve beer, wine and other great Italian foods such as pasta. They have ice cream, cookies, and chips too. This is a cool place to hang out, eat some pizza and watch a game. There's a nice size TV in the dinning area. Oh, if you dine in, the server will bring you a menu and give you a real restaurant experience. read more

This pizza restaurant was one of my favorite places more because my little girl LOVES the pizza.. and we have attended a lot of school money raising events there. However now not so much after the bad experience we had tonight. Tonight for a big group we ordered a large delivery (over 200 dollars worth of pizza!) and when we received the pizza to my surprise the pizzas were made so badly. They were too thin in the middle and too thick on the crust. 3 of the pizzas were not cooked and raw. So I called and the manager / owner told me that he would come and get the pizza and put it back in the oven and then send it back to me. He was rude and unprofessional. My expectation was to be refunded for the pies that weren't cooked or to be offered replacements immediately. Instead we were made to feel like we were complaining and basically lying. See the pictures for yourself. I was a chef for 20 years in NYC and I know how to make pizza and how to treat loyal customers. My friend and I were looking for a bite to eat close to the AMC Theater. Potomac Pizza was a hidden gem. The service would be an 11 out of 10. Employees never left a drink unfilled, made sure everything was to our liking, and the pizza itself was several steps above what you'd get from the pizza chains. The pizza is closer to a Papa Johns style crust more so than to New York or Sicilian. I'm a native New Yorker who finds Pizza in DC a travesty, apparently the travesty continues. The first time I ate here it tasted solid. But that was an exception apparently. Since then I've had to toss the my pizza multiple times. Today I got the spinach and ricotta , it looked like they just threw spinach dip like a heap in the middle of pizza. Went here for lunch and it was honestly average. If you're looking for greasy food at a reasonable price then this might be what you're looking for. My pizza wasn't that good, and the fries were okay - kinda tasted like McDonalds fries, mine were warm but my friends fries were cold. Another girl at my table ordered a kale salad that was actually the best thing all of us got which was kinda ironic at a pizza place. All of that being said I'll be back the next time I'm in need of some greasy food. read more

Pizza with Italian sausage and mushroom was delicious. We came here after an orienteering event where we could get a large pizza for $9 (with $1 per topping). If it weren't for that deal, it'd cost $17+, and honestly, while that pizza was good, I don't think it's worth the normal price of $17+. Plus, other pizzas were disappointing. One person got spinach and ricotta cheese, but you could barely taste the ricotta cheese -- it didn't even taste like ricotta (it wasn't light and creamy like other ricotta I've had, but rather, it was tasteless and doughy like mozzarella, blehhh). Another person got tomato and lettuce (apparently it's called "Mexican pizza"), and she said it wasn't very good. I'd give 4 stars for my sausage/mushroom pizza, but other pizzas weren't impressive. Plus, the pizzas just weren't as good as other places, especially at a regular price of $17. 3 stars (meaning this is a decent place). read more

Meet the Business Owner: Rea P.

Managing Partner, Chevy Chase Location Rea Pyle has come a long way since his ice cream scooper days at the Cone Zone. One of the hardest-working guys we've ever met, Rea-a Washington, D.C. native-moved up the ranks to assistant manager, then manager, and then, while working at Potomac Pizza full-time, decided to complete an undergrad degree at George Washington University. Working 50-55 hours a week, he took on an 18-credit course load and still managed to bring home A's and B's (we were all impressed!). After graduation from GW, Rea became a partner at Potomac Pizza and today, proudly runs our Chevy Chase location.

The walls were an homage of old photos with an eclectic and whimsical feel. Service was excellent. A variety of staff kept checking to see if everything was satisfactory. It was. Our salad was the tomato panzenella special. The ingredients were fresh and the vinaigrette was just right. A complimentary bread basket with olive oil and balsamic vinegar options was available. The glass oil dispenser was coated in oil making it messy to grasp. The bread was not fresh and not exciting. I had the eggplant rollatini. It had a generous flavorful red sauce and the herb ricotta filling added a nice contrast. My only complaint would be how thin the eggplant slices were. More eggplant please. My wife loved her linguini and clams. I couldn't taste it because I have a clam allergy, but she loved it. Someone also got rigatoni and enjoyed it. The generous portions left us too full for dessert. This solid Italian restaurant has good food at a good price and needs to be on your list next time you feel like Italian.

We ordered a hot porchetta sub, cold cut sub, and homemade pappardelle with pesto cream sauce. The owner helped us choose a "soft" sub roll for the porchetta and a "hard" Italian baguette for the cold cut sub. The food was all very tasty and felt like we traveled to a simpler time where ingredients shine for themselves. The porchetta was tender and flavorful, and together with the soft roll, kind of reminded me of a Taiwanese gua bao or Cantonese charsiu bao. It was incredible and smelled so delicious! The cold cut sub was simple and well balanced, and good with the harder baguette. Lastly, the handmade pappardelle was delightfully chewy and reminded me of Chinese hand pulled noodles. Didn't expect to have such parallels with Chinese food- and I enjoyed reflecting on how different cultures can come to have similar tastes and values. It had a creamy tomato flavor sauce that was paired nicely with beef to make a very good tasting dish. - The fettuccine Alfredo was okay but it's not something that I would get again. - The classic chicken parmigiano was solid but nothing crazy. I did like the chicken portion but the spaghetti pasta had to be the smallest I've ever had. - the Complimentary fresh bread and oil came with the meal and it was okay. All in all, this is a solid spot for pasta and my main recommendation would be the pappardelle bolognese which was done very well.
