So much to look at and many unique items. Items turn over a lot, so it is exciting to see what they have new. They let you walk around and shop. Everyone keeps pretty much to themselves. If you need help, just ask. Jessica was to herself even in passing, but as soon as I had a question, she helped me find the item, and even helped with measuring. She was very knowledgeable on the piece and manufacturer. They actually have a dish full of measuring tapes when you walk in which is so handy. Pick and chose your items carefully. There are no returns. I really like a sectional there, but will be researching before purchasing. They offer the floor model or you can request merch to be shipped to you. Pieces not lining up or damage with fabric upon delivery scares me. Need to call. They have unique items. Many really large pieces. Pick and chose wisely. They had so e things that were great and other items hmmm.. I didn't care for so me items that had drawers and doors that didn't open nice, but others were great. Pricing was all over the place. Coffee tables pricing not bad at all. Some sectionals were over 5k, but that is a lot less than La-Z-Boy. You just need to research. A place I like to visit to see what speaks to me. read more

We bought a $1500 sideboard that was BEETLE INFESTED. I wish I was making this up... DO NOT BUY FURNITURE HERE!! we purchased the item back in February noticed little dust piles accumulating randomly on the top. I called into potato barn and sure enough, they confirmed it's from beetles. The worst part.., the manager wasn't surprised. I gathered that this happens all of the time. She said it's because the furniture comes from over seas. I spent the entire afternoon calling around to pest control companies (most don't do termites, wood beetles etc). I was in a rage that my home and other wood furnishings could potentially be now infested with beetles. Pest control told me the beetles do spread but the chances they've spread this early isn't likely. Regardless, I think it's safe to say this is an experience I will never forget and for the rest of my days, I will warn people not to shop here. read more

We purchased our second home in North Scottsdale recently. Went to this store to furnish it. Here is my take. Location: We went to the Scottsdale location but were told the Goodyear location was significantly larger so we also went there. Selection: Magnificent pieces throughout both stores. We ended up Purchasing 12k from the Goodyear location and 1800.00 from the Scottsdale location. Value: No it's incredibly over priced, however it is already put together and really pretty. Service: The Goodyear location is hands down better. Larger, more pieces, friendlier and significantly better customer service. Overall: The pieces and selections are incredibly beautiful and well made. That said, there is ABSOLUTELY NO refunds so you must make sure that your selections are going to work in your space. I like the fact that their is no negotiating prices it just ensures integrity. Shipping was $300 from the Goodyear store to our north Scottsdale home. However that was very reasonable considering how many pieces needed to be delivered. The delivery person was incredibly nice, professional and VERY careful. Here is the problem that I have.. There was such a difference in service at both locations. While Goodyear staff went out of their way to assist us. The lady at the Scottsdale location wouldn't even speak to me.. even as I was piling pottery, vases and candle sticks on the counter. She REALLY didn't want to help me and there was NO OTHER customers in the store. As I stood there trying to purchase 2 very large Art pieces along with the stuff piled up on the counter she just rolled her eyes at me. To be 100% honest.. I was planning on purchasing 2 arm chairs and a table as well but her rudeness caused me pause. She was "writing up my slip and said NOT ONE WORD to me" it was so awkward especially because I'm the one shopping and spending money while she's the one working. Right before I decided to post this I read other reviews with people saying the same thing. Found out SHE IS AN OWNER! If you make the decision to go in and maybe purchase something.. you can't miss her. She is the thin dark hair, Middle Aged incredibly rude lady. Avoid her at all costs and she will absolutely ruin your shopping experience. Better yet, go to another location like Goodyear. Sum up: Hard pass going forward.. I'm shopping to decorate my space and excited to be purchasing items to do so.. to have an owner ruin that experience is bad for business and just bad karma. read more

Scottsdale sometimes gets a bad rap for coming off as pompous and self-centered. If this is an unfair stereotype, the Potato Barn isn't doing anything to prove that reputation wrong. When walking in, the first thing I noticed is that not one single employee (I saw maybe 8 staff members) was wearing a mask. Not ONE. Regardless of one's "personal truth," even Wal-Mart has enough class to wear masks, and dare encourage their customers to do so too, if for no other reason than it's just good, smart business. Because 100% of the employees were mask-less, it feels more like a store mandate for employees to NOT wear them. OK, I'm already uncomfortable. There are other poor reviews addressing this very thing, which management has seen & responded to on Google reviews, but they still essentially wave a middle finger in the air, like they just don't care. Long story short, we go to purchase the rather overpriced but very nice wall art. The female at the desk (photo'd on the left in both photos) was rather indifferent with us, as her reaction suggested that I interrupting her paperwork, and pawned us off on another employee (also pictured, to the right.) This woman was slightly more warm, but still a proud mask-less warrior. We approached the counter to pay and I told my masked wife to keep her distance as there were at one point, five Barn employees & 4 customers all within 10 square feet of each other at the counter. I was approached by a younger female employee (in the middle in the second photo) was also seemingly unaware of a global pandemic. As I kept my distance from crowded counter, she asked me to come to the counter, to be literally shoulder-to-shoulder w/mask-less customers & staff (see photo.) I kindly refused and very diplomatically said "I'd rather not" and gestured that not a single person there was masked up except for me. I handed her my credit card and took 10 steps back. I had no intention of making a scene, or did I - at all. Yet, I still got a few loaded stares from both the counter staff and the customers because I dared be concerned about a pandemic. Liberals, right? The younger female ran my card I still had to approach the counter to sign and cuddle up to our mask-less Potato Patriots. My wife & I collect items in a style that can often best be found at Potato Barn. We've probably spent $8-9K here over the last 3 years and potentially $20K over the last 12. All Potato Barn locations have now forever lost our business. If they're the only ones who have an item we want, we'll go without. This is by FAR the worst customer experience I've experienced in a decade. I am flat out angry, and I don't get to this level easily. We're not the overly sensitive "Karen" type. We have a high threshold on this stuff and try hard to provide grace to others. But even without COVID concerns, which are valid and reason enough for a one star rating, the rest of the visit just showed that Scottsdale has their reputation for a reason. Update: unbelievable development! After calling to ask if there was a warranty with this sofa (they refused to give me an answer) I was told that since my dog repeatedly licked the sofa, it was not returnable. When I mentioned I do not have a dog but my daughter was visiting when this occurred, the clerk accused me of changing my story and lying to them. I was shocked. Then, she went on to say " we have literally sold hundreds of this very same sofa without even one complaint", and hung up. This just reinforces my point that perhaps this sofa has something wrong with it as I'm sure those hundreds of people own many dogs! In any event, they will no longer speak to me and I'll never buy anything there again nor will I let any friends. Can I leave zero stars? I regret the day I stepped foot in this store as I am in the middle of the worst customer experience of my life. Went to potato barn looking for a new big dining table. They had a big selection and we found a beautiful, EXPENSIVE one. Paid our $175 to have it delivered and everything appeared to be good. Next time I'll know to get my level out. The first time we sat at it we could immediately tell something was off. It was a little wobbly, but we have tile floors so I wasn't surprised. We balanced the bottom so it didn't wobble, but something else was wrong and upon further examination one side of the table top was about a quarter to half an inch lower than the rest! We did our due diligence and tried a few things before we called the store, including taking the table and base apart and reattaching it every way possible. No matter how we rotated it, the same side was lower (and it's not our floors, we checked). At this point we call. Husband calls first, Rhonda calls me back (per our request) and asks for pictures. I send these and her response was the shim up the table. I say we tried that and was there a good time to call and discuss. No response. Called again about a week later (we had been traveling). Talked to Nikki who we described the problem too. She had Rhonda called me back. Rhonda was immediately rude and acted like was was inconveniencing her for bringing up our issue. She said she had "talked to the owner" who agreed the floor was probably off balance and we should just shim it up. I explained my frustrations and all we had done to try and fix the problem, but the problem is the table construction! I asked to speak to the owner. I said I understand their return policy, but what I want to see happen is for us to bring the table back and get our money back. (I feel confident my wishes were not communicated to anyone who has decision making capabilities). She said the owner would call me. No response. Called again today (2 days later) and spoke to Nikki who admitted the owner had NO INTENTION of calling me (her words). She also became rude and said their "final offer" was for us to bring the table in they would see what could be done. That is us spending an additional $100 plus gas to take this table back with no promise of a solution. And that's where we are today. I will update with the outcome. But no matter what it is, they have already lost a customer (who has a new 4,000 square foot house with almost no furniture in it). And I promise I will spread the word around our new build community and wherever else I can about our experience. I never want to shop at a place who put their policies above their customers or the quality of their products. read more

I'm not sure what all these people, who say they are upset about customer service, actually expect, but I was more than happy to walk around without anyone following me, or watching my every move and breathing down my neck. They seemed to have plenty of people available to help me, if I needed it or asked for it. I went to eat nearby, and we saw the sign. I had never heard of it before. So we jotted by on our way home to check it out. First off, I thought it was like a mix and match store that sold new and antique items. Some of their stuff looks legit antique, but it's new furniture made to look antique. I'd say the items were very unique, and on the fringe of the theme being an eclectic farmhouse style. It was fun to browse about. I have been looking for a rug for a few months now, and I think I may have found the one I want here. But all sales are final, so I need to measure at home first, before taking the plunge. I heard while I was buying a unique looking, fake succulent, they will let you do a one day credit hold on rugs to take home and try it before you buy it. Which is perfect for someone like me who can't make my mind up, and I don't want to be stuck with something I don't like. They are a pro cash business. They will give you 5% Off on Fridays, if you pay in cash. I'm all for that! Lastly, a-lot of the furniture was unique, giant, furniture pieces. Some pieces seemed like they would only work in a very large, estate type of home. I guess I'll just have to up my house game someday, so I can get me one of those places in PV or Scottsdale and put more furniture in it. I'd definitely shop here again. This was my first visit to the store in 6 years as we ordered a table upon that first visit and are still waiting for a phone call to let us know it has arrived! I found the customer service subpar, if that, back then and thought I'd give it another shot! Not ONE employee addressed or even acknowledged my presence. They walk around in groups, talking to each other. Not a smile to be seen (which is possible because they don't wear masks either as some have mentioned) That was my last visit! read more

Furnished our new home with many beautiful items from PB Scottsdale. I love how unique the items are. I also love how they're not bowing to the cancel culture and respecting people's medical freedom with regard to mask usage. All employees were also incredibly helpful and friendly! I'd give 3.5 stars if I could. I purchased a couch a few months ago from the store. I was not a fan of masks being an option and staff not wearing them. They are not pushy sales people, but I agree with other reviews they tend to give you the up and down and will almost go out of their way to avoid talking to you. Once it was made clear we had the money to pay, the staff was super friendly. We had no issues with getting our couch delivered. Delivery was fast as well since it comes directly from the store. It was a reasonable price compared to cheaper furniture you'd find at surrounding stores like American Furniture and Living Spaces. We selected a John Michaels Design down feather couch. The matching grey pillows came with the couch. It seems to be great quality so far and is super comfortable. She said that she would call me back in a couple days with a solution to fixing the separation in the sectional frame. Solid 3 stars reflects my deep ambivalence about Potato Barn. They have quite possibly the worst customer service of any furniture store ever even though their pieces are beautiful and unique. Staff is not friendly, too cool for school. And when it comes to bigger ticket purchases like couches, they're poorly trained and actively unhelpful. At one point, I left my phone # with the expectation I would receive a call in 6 weeks when the style I wanted came in. Couch came, no call, and another one I wanted sold before they posted the picture online, meaning they posted a picture, and I called right away only to find out it already sold. I've wasted MONTHS stalking their deliveries and could have had a couch if I'd just ordered from somewhere else. Tried to ask staff the best way to shop, when deliveries come in, if I can special order, and they hem and haw, each person saying something completely different while somehow also talking in circles and saying nothing at all. On the other hand, I bought a dining room table form them, which I love. Delivery was seamless, reasonable and friendly. Great quality at a great price. I've bought other little home trinkets and some art which was reasonably priced and cute. Hate that you can't return anything, which makes me less likely to buy. (Sometimes you aren't sure how something will look in your house.) As far as the mask issues - I was thrilled to find a store that doesn't force me to suffocate on my own carbon dioxide because "health." Zero data shows that masks slow the spread. It's a feel-good measure that isn't supported by real world results, even though everyone who demands you wear them seems to worship at the alter of science. That policy made me WANT to support PB, but the stores just aren't well run, and my recent experiences have soured me on shopping there. They don't seem to value my time or money. read more

Very very poor service. They have a zero tolerance all sales are final policy. I want people to know so that they don't make the same mistake I do. I bought a decently expensive couch to be delivered. Went home, realized the space was not big enough for the couch. (I had measured the couch and the space. I have the couch in the room now, just not the way I initially intended). So I went back to potato barn the next day to "return" the couch that I hadn't even picked up yet. And they wouldn't let me refund the couch that was still on their sales floor! Unreal. Couldn't bend their rules. Couldn't work with me. I even bought a few other items the day before. Poor way to do business. Would not recommend this place to others. Shit happens, they took advantage. Just wasn't fair. I understand your policy is all sales are final. Either way, a company has the power to make a decision and have flexibility in order to have good customer service. If I had already picked up the couch, that's one thing, but it hadn't even been 24hrs, it was still in the store, unwrapped, and on the floor.
