My wife and I have been coming here for years, but just as of recent, I've been coming much more due to conference season. On multiple occasions, I've had to ship out tons of items, which naturally takes time since there were so many. And during that time, I've gotten to know Patrick on a personal level, and also seen him interact with his customers, and even my own 7 year old. Long story short, Patrick is the man. He truly cares about his work, and his customers. He is thorough, and will go the extra mile to make sure everything is executed perfectly. Not to mention, he's just an all-around great guy. I'm shocked at the 1-star reviews, and wouldn't be surprised if some of these people are just bitter, or unrealistic in their expectations in the first place. C'mon people...this is a Postal Annex, not the Ritz Carlton....cut the guy some slack if you don't get a red carpet rollout. But all that aside, Patrick's character speaks for itself. I received exceptional notary, postal and copy services, at Postal Annex, Rancho Palos Verdes, after leaving another merchant down the street, who gave me some mumbo jumbo about out-of-state documents and needing to travel to the originating state to notarize the documents. OKAY. I made some calls, one mobile notary wanted $55.00, per signature and the other notary locations were unavailable. I went to the post office hoping they had notary services. I had a complicated notary job and Patrick was patient and helpful and his fees are very reasonable. Parking is also easy.

The local post office was closed due to covid-19 so I looked for something within a few miles of where I was at to mail an Easter package to my neice & nephew out of state. This Postal Annex had the highest Yelp ratings so I drove past 3 other mail centers (one being UPS) and came here. There were no cars out front, a neon sign blinked OPEN and the front door was propped open - oh happy day! Patrick (the owner) was the only one there. He apologized for the slow internet. I didn't care - I've been home for so long with this pandemic it was nice to just be out and about! He found the quickest and least inexpensive way to get it there. Took less than a few minutes to get everything done - I'm so grateful! As I was leaving my battery died to my car - ughhh! As I was calling AAA Patrick came out. He heard a car that was having trouble starting, wanted to know if it was me and if I needed any help. Wow! That was kinda cool! I assured him AAA was on their way. UP ON WESTERN AVENUE by the CARL'S Jr.BURGERS, he'll pack, label, and ship WHATEVER YOU'VE GOT in a FLASH We took three large boxes in for Christmas shipping back East, and about 1/2 way through, the UPS driver shows up to pick up packages that were ready to go. Patrick saw the driver was running AHEAD of schedule & asked if he could wait just a bit to take our packages. Store hours are 9:00-6:00. I showed up for a 9:30 I-9 verification appointment at 9:25. No one else in the store except the employee. He wouldn't see me before 9:30 -- made me sit there staring at him for 5 minutes and acted put out that I was there 5 minutes early. Really? The sign out front says "no lines" as their selling point...unless you show up 5 minutes early to an empty store. With this attitude I wouldn't do any business here read more

I thought long and hard before this review... I am 100% honest with how things are and Ive gone here about 5 times before writing this review. I always want to support local businesses in my city, however Postal Annex is really just NOT efficient... I came here a couple times to ship items but recent experiences were very horrible. My first time here I needed to ship an item, first they asked for my address and then says oh wait computer is slow... Look I get it, technology sucks sometimes so I wait. THEN another wait because computer slow and then another and then he says oh you can go and ill email you a receipt and wrote down my credit card number. AND he sends me wrong receipt and constantly I get emails of other peoples orders lol. But the final straw was my most recent visit. We needed to take passport photos, I did not have time to go to Costco to get pics, so I thought of this place. When I walked in there were 2 people ahead of me so I waited. When it got to us he says sure ill take your photo, we use high quality gloss paper etc. He took the photo and then guess what? NEED TO WAIT because, yep you guessed it, computer slow. Then he goes on and on about how they cant get faster internet. DUDE i live here and we were able to upgrade. He told us to come back... So we left and after a few hours he called and said ready. LETS REWIND FOR A SEC... As I was waiting, I was like hmm a small store like this I want to support. During pandemic we manufactured a lot of hand sanitizers and I have over 2000 bottles sitting in my garage, so I decided to drive home really quickly and grab him some boxes and wanted to donate to him so that he can either use for the store or sell. I gave him about 120 bottles. Ok going back to story, he called and said passport photos are ready. We go back and he hands us 1 lol... JUST 1, usually they give you 2. no envelope nothing. and the quality is HORRIBLE. it felt like printer paper and horrible horrible quality. I asked him a couple times and said are you sure they will take this?! he says yes of course. KEEP IT MIND a passport photo was like $19 with tax. I said ok.... We get to passport agency in DTLA and they said sorry cant take this. AFTER ALLL THAT, ALLLLLL THAT. Went there waited 10 mins before driving home to get him sanitizers, computer slow so left to burn time for 2 hours then come back and get pics when he only gives 1 poor quality photo with no envelope nothing and then PASSPORT AGENCY SAYS THEY CANNOT TAKE THIS PHOTO BECAUSE THE RESOLUTION WAS BAD. I TOLD HIM it looked a little strange... Ok so at this point everyone can understand how I am a little just a little frustrated. I call him and explain to him the situation, he says no refunds im sorry. We do quality photos and passport regulated photos, they are supposed to take it. If they dont then im sorry but no refunds... and then I said you know I did drop off/donate to you some sanitizers out of the kindness of my heart because I want to support small businesses in my neighborhood. He then says oh... ok come back for a refund. BUT THAT IS NOT THE POINT, the point is what if someone else had this problem and didnt donate the items, you would not give a refund? im just very shocked by his attitude and im assuming this gentleman is PATRICK. This review has been a long time coming and I did not want to write this review initially but due to recent circumstances, I think people need to know. I hope they really improve their business and improve on customer service and quality. PS: I never went back for the refund. read more

OWNER IS RUDE!!!! listen everybody I never post anything really I need to mail out my save the dates for wedding. I only mailed out a few because he was so rude, I simply asked him if he can get something out that I threw in the mailbox, and he replied. OFCOURSE I CAN IM THE OWNER.. he said it in a very rude cold way. I was already there for five minutes so that just topped everything he charged me for extra stamps when I didn't even need it this man does not know anything. I went to an actual US post office, and they told me I only need it one stamp when this man told me I need it to for each one. I'm making a big thing out of this because I can't believe how rude he was and I was coming from a long way and found this little spot, I really don't recommend this. There's other private ones in San Pedro if anyone reads this I hope you go in there to experience the same so you know I'm not just doing this to be mean maybe you can mention to him that he needs to be a little more nice, I almost wanted to go back in there and tell him, but I would never stoop down to his level. No hello, no may I help you, and I'm sure wasn't VISIBLE enough in his eyes for him to postpone his conversation with manager/owner type sitting down. I have absolutely no patience in convincing somebody that my green deposits just as efficiently as some body else's. So I left my green in my purse and 180'ed back to the door. This is a convenient shipping and printing store... Patrick helped me with some shipping and it was quick and painless. Best part is you don't have to stand in line like at the post office! What else is impressive about the store is their printer/copier. As a graphic designer, sometimes I just need some color prints done quick and cheap. Anytime I run more than a few copies on my color printer at home, the cost of the ink doesn't make sense. I used to go to FedEx office and the prints were ehhhh. The printer here at Postal Annex prints so much nicer! Solid colors print without banding! The color is solid all the way through. I have never seen FedEx Office's printers do that (their drums are overused and need to be replaced). And Postal Annex is cheaper, too! Hey, if you need to print presentations or anything that has a background color, you need to come here instead of FedEx Office. Seriously! read more

Woke up on Saturday and remembered I needed a notary for a job application and interview the following Monday. Looked on yelp and saw some places that were closer to my house, so I checked one out. Turns out their notary "doesn't come in on Saturdays." Huh, not very convenient. So I ventured further down Western Avenue and find the Postal Annex. Patrick was the one working there when I showed up. He was in the middle of his lunch when I showed up but graciously put that aside quickly to help me with my needs. He was very helpful and professional. We talked for a few minutes and after asking, he explained the reason why things need to be notarized, since I wasn't too knowledgeable about it. They take care of your there and talk to you like a person, not just some customer. Overall I had a great experience there. I went to Postal Annex yesterday have a document notarized. Patrick did a perfectly fine job notarizing the document; however, he created a toxic experience by talking about his prior customers. Specifically, he said that two "gay men" who were "really flaunting it" were in to have a document notarized. He rolled his eyes, grumbled some inaudible words, and then said (with more eye rolling), "Only in California." I will never ever return to this business and I have instructed my staff, who have patronized this business on my behalf routinely, to no longer use Patrick's services. read more
