Had a slice of their traditional deep dish and a slice of their "thin crust". The deep dish had a very deep sauce and tender sausage. The thin crust was disappointing as it reminded me of frozen, thick, in-a-box pizza. The woman who served us was very friendly. She offered to customize the thin crust slide with additional toppings. I have a long standing 25 year relationship with Positanos. Back when I was 12 years old they gave me my first job. In the Ashland location. So I knew the father and the 2 brothers. Good guys. I eventually moved out of that area and ended up closer to Midway. To my surprise, years later I found they opend a new location next to me. Awesome!! So of course we ordered from here. For years I have loved their pizza. My score in know way reflects flavor. In my opinion it's one of the best pizzas in Chicago. But my score of 3 stars is because I removed nostalgic feelings and this is what I truly felt. So here we go. Here on the south side it gets very competitive with pricing. And for the same price that I'm paying for this pizza, I can go to a pizza place I can dine in. I won't mention the competition. But, for the same price I'm getting a dining experience along with it. The staff specifically the ones who handle the phones typically do an okay job. But even when I place an order I find myself having to make sure I repeat myself about 3 times so I can get my order accurate. This is because they have gotten it wrong on several occasions. You walk in, you are never greeted by the staff in the front. and if you're lucky, they look up away from their phones to notice that you're there. My score is based on customer service and competitive pricing. Two easy things that can be fixed to make this place great are: employee training and a marketing strategy. An incentive to stand out and compete. When competition starts surrounding your business, you don't just increase prices and hope for the best. You create a reason why people should stay interested and not go to someone else. If I was basing my score on flavor they would get a five. But, I have to be honest. And this location needs improvements. I hope in the near future I can add two more stars. because I truly like this pizza joint and I wholeheartedly want it to do better. read more

Great little mom and pop!!! The deep pizza is the best! The crust was perfect, the sauce was tangy, and it was cooked to perfection. They have personal sized deep pizza which I also nice. The owner made sure he let the pizza "sit" for a minute before cutting into it to serve me a slice so it wasn't pizza soup. Seriously, this pizza was so good I smuggled my leftovers back to Denver on the plane!!! I only wish they had green olives for the pizza. This is one of the best pizza places in the midway area, in my opinion. Their thin crust is amazing! Am I going to get flak for this? Yeah, probably... But with a 3 hour layover at Midway airport and having never experienced true Chicago pizza before, I saw the Yelp reviews for Positanos and figured it would be worth the mile-long shuttle/walk. I hustled there and grabbed a couple of slices, cheese and sausage. Not only is there better pizza pretty much everywhere, but I found both to be well below average: the type of pizza you could get from any neighborhood pizza place pretty much anywhere. I'm not saying it was inedible, just that it is no destination for me and if I lived 2 doors down, I'd still have a hard time justifying making it my "usual." The service was average and prices were a bit high for slices. read more

I can't say enough about this place. I love the crust. I don't eat pork, but I will eat a slice of their sausage pizza any day of the week. The sauce is awesome! I LOVE the cheese fries. I live right around the corner, so when I want a slice of pizza, I just walk a couple blocks and get one. The owners are amazing people. I come here all of the time and I usually carry cash. A few weeks ago however, I left my house without my wallet and had already ordered the pizza. I was sooo embarrassed! I apologized and I told them that I would be back to pick up the pizza and pay. I know my face was red! LOL! The owners were extremely nice and told me not to worry about it. To just stop by next time I'm around the neighborhood. I kept apologizing and told them that they could just hold the pizza in the heater for me and I would be back shortly. "It happens," the lady said and smiled. Both insisted that I just go back another day when I had time. I went back the next day as soon as they opened. If that isn't great customer service, I don't know what is.
