We have visited Positano numerous times with parties of 4 - 6 being average. Today, we went in expecting the usual great service and delicious food we are accustomed to. We were waited on by Vanessa. One of us has a broken foot, and it got off to a rough start when Vanessa stepped on it. It took about 20 minutes to get our drinks. During that time one of us had a small spill, and we had to ask for napkins and clean it up ourselves. Our food took no less than 45 minutes to come out, and we were not checked on routinely and had to repeatedly ask for refills. It should be noted that the restaurant was not busy during this time and Vanessa seemed very interested in one of her other tables, so it was not that she was too busy to wait on us. A food runner finally brought the food out, and it is usually piping hot, but today it was lukewarm with hot spots, as if it had sat under a warmer for an extended period of time - likely due to our server's inattention and flirting with other tables. Vanessa came back to check on us about 30 seconds after we'd gotten our food, and oddly started taking glasses back to the kitchen for refills instead of pouring them from a pitcher, which we found concerning. At no time did she offer any explanation or apology for why the food took so long to come out. The food was so-so. Again, lukewarm with hot spots; some dishes poorly seasoned; the tre p incredibly salty. We usually clean our plates, but today each of us left a good amount uneaten. Running our credit cards was again a production and took far longer than necessary. If this had been our first visit, we would likely not be back. read more

Mediocre and always disappointing. Every time I go, I hope things will improve, but it seems to only get worse. It gonna be a long time before I step foot in there again. When we arrived the hostess was talking on the phone and continued her conversation without even acknowledging us. There were plenty of available tables and three servers on the floor. The hostess, dressed in jeans, complained to us that they are short on help and it would be about 15 minutes which turned into a half hour. The fried calamari was ice cold and our waiter served me chicken parmesan when I ordered chicken marsala. My family ate their meals while I waited for them to cook my order and correct their mistake. The waiter never once apologized, nor did a manager acknowledge their error. The veal dishes were pathetic, my husband's chicken parmesan was a veal patty and my chicken marsala had three tiny bite-size pieces of veal. The waiter never asked if we wanted desert just dropped the check. I left a 20% tip because it was the holidays, but I won't be back. Constructive criticism, I'm here to help: -Calimari was bland and completely unseasoned. This was compounded by a marinara that tasted like tomatoes, and nothing else. -Lasagna needed way more sauce and cheese....Ours only had cheese/sauce on top and that made for a lasagna that was basically dry noodles and unseasoned hamburger. -Lobster Ravioli was pretty good, although it was spicy. I liked that, but my wife thought it was too much. -The rolls were good, but again needed more garlic and seasonings. Later on we went to the Table for piece of cheesecake and I realized that normal need for something sweet after an Italian dinner just wasn't there. Why? Near zero garlic and all the other seasonings that make Tiramisu, or the like, a must-have! Would not go again, which is a shame as the interior is really nice. read more

I had the chicken piccata and requested artichokes (which was provided, though not anywhere on the menu). The chicken was tender and the portion was generous. Service: exceptional. We were a boisterous group celebrating an anniversary. Our waiter Matt was professional and informative. If you're looking for overpriced bland food, pre-packaged rolls with a little seasoning, served with a tasteless olive oil dip, marinara sauce that tastes like nothing more than canned tomatoes and poor service-this is the restaurant I'd recommend. Let's not forget a wannabe tiramisu! Who puts canned whipped cream on a tiramisu?!?! Answer:a restaurant that wants to give an otherwise delicious dessert some flavor! UPDATE: service was excellent tonight, and has made me bump this up to a 5 star review. Love this place and will be coming here often for date nights. They were busy tonight, but served us and everyone flawlessly with good rhythm and smiling faces. We really enjoyed our time here, and hope to make this a regular spot. We were exploring Asheboro, as we are about to move close to the town and wanted to see what we could find. Found this place by driving by and it was a great little find! I enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere so much, big strung lights all across the ceilings, brick walls, yellow and red table covers, it was homey feeling, and really simple and pretty for an Italian restaurant. The food was excellent, it tasted so good, everything. We had the calamari, and shared the first seafood pasta dish on the menu which comes with all the seafood options, we chose to have it on angel hair pasta, with an Alfredo sauce. The Alfredo sauce was one of the best Iv had! So good! My only complaint was they were a little stingy on portion sizes. The menu says this dish includes mussels, scallops, clams, and shrimp. There were only 2 shrimp on the whole plate, and 2 thin scallops. 5 mussels and clams each. The scallops were some of the best Iv ever tasted, as was the rest of the seafood items. I do feel I'm a bit spoiled by restaurants who include plenty of shrimp and scallops with their dishes, and I felt the quality of the food made up for the lack of it. It was just enough to fill me up with one portion, no leftovers. The bread was served in small bite sized pieces with oil and seasoning to dip in- and was so hot when it got to the table- very excellent. The calamari was served with marinara, I do wish they had a white sauce too for it, but it was well cooked. The waitress however, did not want to be there it seemed. She made no effort to get to know us, or make us comfortable, and simply did the bare minimum of her job. I felt like I was imposing to ask for a refill or more bread so I kept my mouth shut instead, not a great way to feel when your dinning out on a rare date night. She didn't smile once the whole time we were there, and brought us our check before we were even finished eating- so we decided to skip dessert. For some time now, I had been looking forward to eating here. However, the timing and circumstances never worked out. Tonight was a rare exception that we found ourselves coming through Asheboro with family and looking for a nice quiet dining experience, with exceptional food. My brother-in-law and sister (who were with us) have eaten here often and had nothing but good things to say, so it was with great anticipation that we selected this place to have dinner tonight. I was excited to see our table ready for us (we called ahead to make reservations as there were seven of us). As we waited for our drink order to come, we joked with the waitress and I felt at this point we had made the right decision. We made our dinner selections and conveyed them to Marcella, our waitress. I selected the Chicken Cacciatore as I was very pleased to see that it had the option to SUBSTITUTE (key word here, remember this for later) hot banana peppers for green peppers that were the standard ingredient. What a great way to step up the flavor of Chicken Cacciatore. As we waited for our dinner to arrive, we noted that the pictures were all crooked on the wall behind our table and some chairs were haphazardly placed in the corner off the end of our table. But what they hey, we came here for the food and not the décor. As the food starts to arrive, it is all looking great. Mine arrives and I note that the HOT BANANA PEPPERS look more like green bell peppers (you know, the ones that give me indigestion). I ask Marcella when she comes back, to have the green peppers replaced with the HOT BANANA PEPPERS that I ordered. She then tells me that they are mixed in with the green bell peppers. I politely inform her that where I come from SUBSTITUTE (as indicated on the menu) means "to replace or instead of" not commingled. She says that you have to indicate that at the time of the order. I relay back to her the fact that that is exactly what I did. Even have the folks at the table confirm that fact. Well she leaves and I start picking out the green bell peppers. My back is to the kitchen but my sister is facing the kitchen. My sister says "Oh no, she is bringing the menu back out." Marcella then shows me where on the menu is says 'May substitute Hot Banana Peppers...'. I, again, agree that is correct and in fact it is why I used the word SUBSTITUTE when she was last at the table. She then says, "Well, the customer is always correct." But does nothing with this apparently new revelation. Even tells me that green bell peppers ALSO do not agree with her and I'm thinking, BUT you don't have to eat them tonight OR go hungry.... Not the experience I was looking forward to. Not what I had hoped for. Not what I paid for. Not happy about the indigestion I'm fighting as I type this out. read more

We had lunch here yesterday. It's was a very good choice. I had the veal parmigiana. My wife had the shrimp scampi both meals were excellent. We noticed this place had some mixed reviews on yelp but decided to take a chance. It was very good and the service was good also. We were in a large party so they charged a 18% service charge for a large table which was ok but they should have let us know about. If they hadn't charged the 18% service charge I would have tipped them more. That is their choice I guess. read more

Y'all. I really want to like this place. I've been three times over the course of the past year or so, and I think tonight was my final visit. I went with my family to celebrate my mother's birthday. We had a party of seven, no reservation. We went in and were promptly seated in the little side room with a couple of large tables. So far, so good. After a few minutes our waitress appeared and took drink orders. It took awhile for the drinks to arrive, but they did have a full dining area and we did order three drinks from the bar (two beers and a wine). She set the drinks down and disappeared. Several minutes elapsed. She brought bread and disappeared again. Meanwhile we only had one napkin/silverware set for the whole table. Eventually she returned to take our orders. Once we ordered, the plates came out promptly and nobody had any complaints about their food. We had to request silverware. The waitress returned with a pile of napkins and assorted forks and knives, explaining they did not have any rolled up. She plopped this array in the middle of the table and we had to sort out the napkins and silverware. So bizarre. Once we finished, she was prompt to clear the table and bring our bills, and then disappeared. Time elapsed. Lots and lots of time. She finally came to get the checks and returned our cards without much to say. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WHY IS THE SERVICE SO BAD HERE? For our party of 7 we were out $130ish. This meal had to be one of the worst meals I have eaten. First off, we made a reservation since we had a bigger party than normal. When we got there, the hostess told us that we could have a booth with a chair on the end. Throughout the whole dinner we were squished together and had a difficult time moving. Three people in our party ordered eggplant parm since it is our favorite dish. When the eggplant came out, it tasted like a microwave entree. The eggplant was not fresh and tasted like it had been reheated multiple times. It claims to have everything fresh but it definitely is not. I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the food. When we got the bill, they had charged us for one of the eggplant Parms even though we sent them back. The only great thing about this restaurant was our server,Jailene. Even though there were problems with the meal, she handled them with great customer service. Very disappointing meal. read more

Such a wonderful place for lunch or dinner. Everything on their menu is made with fresh ingredients. And their bread...oh, their bread. I don't have the words. It's so wonderful. A little bit of crunch on the outside and softness inside. I love their lasagna. Lots of different meats, but very light tasting. My sister had the tortellini with bacon and mushroom in a cherry tomato sauce. She said it was wonderful. Try the red pepper dressing for your salad. Creamy with a little spice. Ordered the most expensive steak medium rare. Got it over well. Didn't eat it but no one came by to check it for 15 min. Asked me if I wanted them to prepare me something also but by that time my wife was done. The manager asked me if I wanted to take it with me and put it on the bill. I commented to the waitress about it being on my bill and she agreed I then left and the waitress came outside with a refund. I suggested to the waitress that she should keep it as an extra tip. I think the manager is either inexperienced in serving the public! To bad they are not managed better. Ps, This is the third time visiting there with similar results. For me it's always about the food. What I and others had was really good and I'd gladly go back. Having said that I think there are some issues on the business side of things that I hope get worked out as time goes on. Prices are a little high for the area, but good food is worth it. The food was delicious! My husband had the Gorgonzola gnocchi and I got the chicken positano, which were both fresh and amazing. The breadsticks brought to the table were hot and clearly made moments before. That said, the service clouded the food. We sat and waited at the table for about 10-15 minutes, with no attention from the waitress at all. No water, no bread, nothing. When she approached, she seemed irritated to have to take our orders. I had to order water, and my husband and I both completely finished our drinks several times before she offered refills. If we visit in the future, I would probably request the food to pick up...the service really knocked a great restaurant down for us. read more
