The restaurant is one of the better restaurants in Asheboro. Meaning, it's clean and kinda cute. The service is the best in Asheboro. Meaning, the service matched the ambience and price point. The wait staff may actually have some experience or training in service above a diner. The food was good. Not great. The side salad with house made Italian dressing was fresh and the dressing was delicious! The bread sticks were homemade but chewy. Almost too chewy to eat. They were either old or left out too long. Main dish was the Seafood Mediterranean. Would liked to have had more than 2 pieces of shrimp in my dish and more than 2 scallops. The dish used more ratio of baby clams and muscles. Was served powdered Parmesan cheese like you get in a pizza parlor or grocery store spaghetti isle. And the dish lacked overall flavor but wasn't bad. Dessert was Tiramisu. It was good. The table next to me sent their plate back, didn't want it cooked longer and didn't want a replacement dish. Not sure what was going on there but the restaurant did offer choices to make it right. Also, the manager was going around asking how everyone's food was. Overall it's a good dining experience with good food. Management here wants you to have a good dining experience. I would like to go back to try more dishes and would recommend. read more

We had a great time at Positano for a friend's special birthday. We had a large crowd and the servers did an AMAZING job keeping drinks flowing. Food was perfect and all around excellent service. We had appetizers and main course AND dessert and everything was yummy!! The restaurant was adequately appointed but not fussy. We really enjoyed everything. Highly recommend. read more

This was our second visit to Positano on a trip to the zoo. Both visits we had grandkids in tow and had a very pleasant experience. The food was better than expected in little Asheboro and a wonderful divergence from sports bar and BBQ fare. Service was very good. We will be back on next zoo trip. read more

I genuinely don't understand how this place has a 3.7 rating. The food was bland, lifeless, and tasted like it was thrown together with zero care. For an Italian restaurant, there was absolutely no flavor or authenticity just overpriced disappointment. Honestly, I've had better meals at home with half the effort. Complete waste of money and time. I won't be coming back. By the way if I could put ZERO stars I WOULD!!!!! read more

Our first night in NC, we opted for Italian food- this was one of the favorites recommended by our B&B hostess. We had to wait a few minutes before being seated and the space is fabulous! Big dining room and an outdoor patio, with light strung about. We sat and started pouring over them menu- I went with lobster ravioli and John ordered a calzone. He opted for the small since we were just visiting the area and it was still huge! My lobster ravioli was the most lobster packed I have ever had! I was so happy! Our server was quick on refills and checking on us- I was very happy with this choice! read more

We absolutely love the Asheboro Positano. Their calamari is spectacular and they have one of the best Marinara sauces I have had in a long time read more

We had dinner here last night. I got my favorite dish the lobster ravioli and my husband got spaghetti bolognese. He'd never ordered it before but it was really good! He liked the flavor and enjoyed it. Lobster ravioli is my go-to because the sauce is incredible--it's rich but also a bit acidic with blistered tomatoes. read more

For small town NC, this is a good place to come enjoy a nice Italian dinner with friends. There are a lot of classics, some with a twist... Classics are so for a reason, meaning that messing with what works can be a hit or a miss. It seems like they have some of both. The antipasto plate as an app is huge, heavy on olives, cheese, and drizzle. The bread, though, yummy! The appetizer arugula salad was nicely done. To explore something different, I went with the ravioli with smoked chicken... the flavor was fine (I was hungry and ate most of it), but I'm not sure I'd order again. The smoky just isn't a match for the pasta, I don't think. Nothing wrong with it, just a creative twist that didn't land for me. read more

Favorite place in Asheboro! Great food and great atmosphere. Love their pizza and lasagna.

Really great fresh ravioli, and unique anti pasta appetizer. Cheap red wine and lots of space for big groups. Kind servers although ours was new and didn't have a lot of experience to provide quality recommendations. Food was fast and great. Would certainly return. read more

Being from NJ probably skews the review. That said it was worth it to try out the restaurant after the zoo. The menu was diverse and offered a lot of options. The salad was delish and while they didn't have Feta, they addd fresh mozzarella and parm. The older server was incredible. The only snafu was the menu indicated you could add a salad for $3.00 but this was not the case. read more

Don't normally leave reviews but NO STARS for this place, no stars for the waitress, manager and the owner! Absolutely the worst customer service ever experienced! Total disregard for their paying customers! Don't waste your time or your money! read more

Food was very disappointing. Ordered Chicken Picatta. It was barely edible. Salad and bread was good. Service was good. Atmosphere was satisfactory. I Was going through town and thought Italian sounded good. Maybe pizza would have been a better choice. I won't know because it was my first and last time I will go there. read more

I think it's time for this restaurant to close. After 5 years away, I decided we should give this place another try. Before the food was pretty good and the service was poor. This time, terrible service, coupled with terrible food. I think most items were microwaved and served. Time to call it quits. read more

Maybe my expectations were too high given the reviews, but my partner and I were a bit let down by Positano. We were in town for a vacation and came here for a nice dinner one evening. The staff were friendly and it was quite busy inside. We got seated outside and ordered - I got a glass of white zinfandel and lobster ravioli, my partner got lasagna and a seafood soup. Our server was nice but he had never heard of the wine I ordered or the soup, despite both being on the menu. Our drinks then took a while to come out. My wine was just OK, which is to be expected since it was $5. After a bit we had to move indoors because it started raining. The staff were very helpful getting us situated. Unfortunately our server came back and let us know the kitchen staff had never heard of the soup we ordered. This was a bit frustrating given it was quite literally on the menu. Our food came out a while later. My lobster ravioli was pretty good, albeit very salty and only came with 4 ravioli. My partner's lasagna came cold and he said that it did not taste good. Unfortunately our nice dinner ended up being a bit of a letdown. read more

Friendly people and service. Many different types of sauces. I would suggest the store to or Marsala or pink cream sauces opposed to plain marinara sauce for a great experience! read more

What a find. Celebrating our 28th anniversary out-of-town, & luck out finding Positano. First: drinks. House Merlot was very nice - easy to drink. I'd buy a bottle of that. Martinis were delicious too. Friend house-made mozzarella was very good. So fresh!! Dinner entrees were made with fresh (not dried) pasta. Dessert cakes were yummy!!! Meals were what we expect from restaurants... extra star added for our waitress, Victoria. Pleasant, small conversation - not too much, just enough to be personable, knowledgeable about drinks & foods. read more

Not consistent! I met a friend there for lunch 2 weeks ago. The food was excellent - eggplant Parmesan, bruschetta and a salad for me. She had the lasagna and a salad. Couldn't believe how amazing the food was and the server was awesome. Fast forward to 2/7. I stopped at 7:45 and ordered the veal Marsala and a small house salad. The salad was very fresh. The veal Marsala was served over spaghetti noodles. The sauce tasted like water - I thought maybe the noodles weren't strained enough. The dish had no flavor at all. After giving up on my waitress coming to check on my meal, I flagged someone else down and asked for them to send her over to me. My waitress did not come over, but another server came over to see how she could help. When I explained to her that the sauce was very watery and had no flavor, she said no problem they would fire the dish again. I told her I had eaten the veal Marsala there numerous times before, and it was always excellent. She replied that they had a new chef. When the new dish was brought out, it was the opposite. The noodles were so dry. It was like there was no sauce on it. Quite frankly it was inedible. I pondered the thought of taking it home with me and doctoring it up, but to me that defeats the purpose of dining out. I pointed out to them that it just was not good. Then I asked my original waitress when the regular cook would return. Imagine my surprise when she said he was there. They did not have a new chef. ‍ They did remove the veal Marsala from my check. On a positive note, the bread was tasty and the salad was fresh, but not the meal I had hoped for. I won't write them off, but I probably would not order the veal again. read more

Happened upon the hidden gem! The food was phenomenal and the service matched! Our server, Aaron, was excellent. We had the mozzarella appetizer, the chicken parmigiana sandwich with homemade chips, the eggplant parmigiana meal and finished with pistachio gelato. We ate at Positano's and were very disappointed.I ordered chicken Piccata and it was Not the way that dish should be made.I got lumps of chicken breast instead of thin sliced breast. The sauce was very good, but the lumps of chicken were so thick they were dry and they were mixed all together with the spaghetti! Your cook needs so lessons on how to make piccata!! Another plate of meat balls and spaghetti was not even not! The meatballs were dry and tasted like they were what you get at a grocery store The next dish of Fra Diablo had 3 small shrimp, empty shells and was not very nice. One dish of 1/2 chicken and esparagus, seemed like the chicken had been reheated and put on the plate. The best part was the asparagus! read more

This is my favorite restaurant in the area. Had lobster ravioli first time and eggplant parmigiana the second and both dishes were delicious. The atmosphere and industrial decor was pleasing and the staff was very good, particularly Aaron who is a real asset to the restaurant. He apologized for any delays due to short staffing but was very attentive to our needs and made it an overall great experience both times we were there. One pet peeve for Positano to fix: Both visits, pasta arrived on the dish with way too much water still in it. It made the plate all watery and thinned the sauce on it and water seeped into my eggplant entree. Please take the time to drain the pasta longer before plating it and your guests will be grateful. Lastly, thanks to our friend Rodney for the great restaurant recommendation! read more

We stopped in Asheboro on the way home to Statesville on June 14th but the restaurant where we usually eat wasn't serving dinner that week. We made a decision to try Positano which was nearby and were pleasantly surprised with a delicious meal. Dinner salads were very good, bread good, but my fresh eggplant entree with marinara sauce over penne pasta was delicious. It was a healthier entree because the eggplant wasn't fried. My husband enjoyed the Chicken Marsala. We would order the same entrees again. Our server was excellent on a very busy evening. read more

Not great service. Unless you're drinking, one after another. If you're having tea or water, you're likely to be ignored. Decor looks more like an after thought. Smelled musty. Food was ok, I had the half chicken because it was gluten free. It was just ok. Definitely not worth another trip back. I'm from Asheboro. I love Asheboro. I want to support Asheboro. But I have no idea how this place is still in business. read more

Tried the Caprese, Cheese Raviolis and Fettuccine Alfredo. The Caprese and Cheese Ravioli average but I really liked the Fettuccine Alfredo. They bring complementary house baked bread and olive oil. The food was okay here, not actually traditional Italian dishes but they had a lot of options. They seem to rely on heavy salt and garlic for most of the flavor. The chicken marsala was cooked very well but unfortunately the salt overpowered the dish. There were also a lot of hidden charges that they didn't tell us about until we got the bill. read more

Very good food and excellent service. Good location and plenty of parking. Chicken Positano was outstanding.

#1. The olive oil they place on the table is VERY bad ...don't do it unless you can give a flavorful extra virgin oil! #2. Atmosphere cold and The decor and ambiance uncomfortable...lights way too bright...empty room and industrial decor and pizza joint decor clash...make up your mind. Has potential...but missed the mark. #3 Service...server sweet but inattentive and 2 simple requests not granted...food came out not as requested... and that is after asked for water no ice...came with ice #4 House Malbec pretty good and great price at 6.25 a glass #5 Food...sorry to say mediocre at best...Tomato sauce overly salty and thick...home baked garlic knots raw. Also Saturday night and no lettuce for salad? Ran out at lunch is what we were told...should send somebody out to store to buy some!!! Shouldn't happen in a good restaurant. Keep trying...these mistakes could easily be fixed with just a bit of effort... read more

I kind of stumbled on this restaurant via Yelp following a visit to the North Carolina zoo. I have to say the food was quite good I give it a 4.5. I had the shrimp and scallops with gluten-free pasta and although it was a little heavy on the cherry tomatoes it was delicious . The person with me had the lobster ravioli and it was quite good as well. However as good as the food was, the service was about a 2.5 at best. The server was a ghost and only came to the table 3 times during the two hour sitting and we had to call for her three other times to ask for things we needed. When the level of service matches the quality of the food, this place will be five star! read more

Walked right in and got a table. Service was excellent and the food was amazing. The best Lasagna I've ever had!!

My boyfriend and I went there tonight and super excited to just go on a date. We got there and the hostess was just not friendly or inviting. I am a hostess myself and she was not welcoming what so ever. There was a wait which is completely fine BUT the hostess never called us and we had to walk back in for her to just sit us. Our waiter was just awkward and did not cater to us what so ever another waitress had to fill up my water after he ignore my empty glass on the table for 10 min or more. My boyfriends food was good while I had the Fettuccine Alfredo its was just basically watery noodles that costed $14 . A few hours later me and his stomachs now hurt. This is my first time coming and I'm willing to give it another chance but definitely not a good first impression. read more

UPDATE: service was excellent tonight, and has made me bump this up to a 5 star review. Love this place and will be coming here often for date nights. They were busy tonight, but served us and everyone flawlessly with good rhythm and smiling faces. We really enjoyed our time here, and hope to make this a regular spot. We were exploring Asheboro, as we are about to move close to the town and wanted to see what we could find. Found this place by driving by and it was a great little find! I enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere so much, big strung lights all across the ceilings, brick walls, yellow and red table covers, it was homey feeling, and really simple and pretty for an Italian restaurant. The food was excellent, it tasted so good, everything. We had the calamari, and shared the first seafood pasta dish on the menu which comes with all the seafood options, we chose to have it on angel hair pasta, with an Alfredo sauce. The Alfredo sauce was one of the best Iv had! So good! My only complaint was they were a little stingy on portion sizes. The menu says this dish includes mussels, scallops, clams, and shrimp. There were only 2 shrimp on the whole plate, and 2 thin scallops. 5 mussels and clams each. The scallops were some of the best Iv ever tasted, as was the rest of the seafood items. I do feel I'm a bit spoiled by restaurants who include plenty of shrimp and scallops with their dishes, and I felt the quality of the food made up for the lack of it. It was just enough to fill me up with one portion, no leftovers. The bread was served in small bite sized pieces with oil and seasoning to dip in- and was so hot when it got to the table- very excellent. The calamari was served with marinara, I do wish they had a white sauce too for it, but it was well cooked. The waitress however, did not want to be there it seemed. She made no effort to get to know us, or make us comfortable, and simply did the bare minimum of her job. I felt like I was imposing to ask for a refill or more bread so I kept my mouth shut instead, not a great way to feel when your dinning out on a rare date night. She didn't smile once the whole time we were there, and brought us our check before we were even finished eating- so we decided to skip dessert. I do hope her service was a reflection of a bad day, and not the resteraunt on a whole. I will update next time we visit, and hopefully be able to change this to a five star review read more
