As a woman of color, my options for spa services are limited here in the Antelope Valley. I assume this may be because of previous entanglements with a younger, less respectful crowd. I, however am a mature woman of 53 years. I preface this review with the above sentiment because it is proven and true. As for posh nails. This was my second experience. My first visit was a little less than a year ago for a pedicure. It was my first service in over two years and I was in need of some pampering on that day I must say my experience was beyond pleasant. The spa package was delivered above and beyond my expectations. She was an elder woman with a kind smile and extremely patient hands by the end of my service as my polish dried she noticed how fatigued I was, and honored me with a quick massage. I regret not singing her praises, in a review, sooner, her hospitality and care was five stars for sure. Sadly I cannot say the same today as I revisited the shop for a full set of natural length acrylic powder nails. Initially I was told I had a five minute wait which I expected would probably be a bit more. After 35 minutes I was escorted to the very last chair on the manicure side where I sat for another 10 minutes before the technician returned to begin. She placed a tray on the table and asked me what I wanted. I told her a full set short and natural with the powder I selected at the advice of another patron. As she sat down, I just adjusted my phone so I could continue to watch my program in close captions and she adjusted her phone on a stand. I mused. "Would you happen to have another?" to which she dryly answers "no I just have my own". I wasn't sure that what I was receiving was tension so I awkwardly replied " I'll have to remember mine next time." then I looked up for a smile or agreement, but there was none to be had. As a matter of a fact she averted my glance and huffed as she continued to prepare. Next she reached for a sanding pen and then my hand. I said "wait, I think I need my cuticles done" she drops the sander and begrudgingly mutters that's $15. I don't just give manicure. I wait for the client to ask. Do you want it?" To which I answered "I wanted your opinion because I am not sure if they just need to be pushed back" Somehow this exchange upset her to the extent that she stood up and motioned to the shop owner that she was done with me. I asked her what did I do wrong but she ignored me and walked away. The shop owner said "just give me a minute, I'll get someone". I shouted back to him "I don't even know what I did to her. Can you ask her what I did?" He then waves me over to the front of the shop. by this time, I'm still in a state of bewilderment I have no idea what I could've done to this woman in a matter of 45 seconds to offend her so deeply her behavior was harsh and uncalled for. As I approached his workstation, his then client eagerly offers to switch technicians with me. At that point, I was still willing to be serviced in an effort to validate my extended wait. His client motions to stand up, and he waved her back down and shook his head and waved his hand at me. I, once again, in a bewilderment reiterated that I did not understand what I did to offend the technician. His client once again interjecting " it's OK Michael I'll move"... he puts his head down and continues to shake his head no. At this point I'm frustrated. I patiently sat for 40 minutes only to be mistreated and functionally denied service. What a travesty, how unfortunate. I couldn't imagine them treating any other client in attendance in the same manner. Needless to say, I will be taking my business elsewhere and as for the future, I will not recommend this establishment to any of my friends or neighbors in the community. Take what you will from this review, but I hope that the owners of this local small business have an opportunity to read in a public forum how their discourteous and disgraceful mishandling of a potentially loyal client will not be tolerated.
