I'm writing this in favor of all my favorite stores here in Anchorage; I have been a resident for years and have seen the fashion industry grow with our quaint little town. It's just unfortunate that someone has to come in and spoil it.
As I walked into the new Posh Boutique, I couldn't help but notice her sign looked very similar, almost identical, to Blush Boutique's sign (which is located downtown)....this was a bad first impression as I was told Blush and Posh have NO connection...which it seemed to be that way upon entering.
I was also informed, after my visit, via Facebook that they are starting to carry brands that Blush, Circular, ANNNNND LuLu E Bebe already carry.
As a frequent shopper at each of those stores, I don't find this flattering for Posh in ANY WAY; in fact it's the exact opposite.
They should stand out on their own without having to take brands from other stores.
I will forever be a downtown/midtown boutique shopper until another part of town can stand out as much as those smaller shops do, Circular, Blush, Her Tern, Bottoms, Cosette, Lulu E BeBe etc.
Such a letdown too, I had high hopes for this shop, South Side could use some fashion but to me it seems as though the owner of this new "boutique" knows as little about fashion as she does owning a independent business.
Although the store was really nicely laid out, I wasn't impressed.
The sales reps were all young high school girls who pretended to know my style, pulling me things I would NEVER wear, which to me, seemed pushy and like they just needed the sale.
The clothing in the store was more suited towards younger girls which is great, but not my style.
If this new Posh wants to make it to be around in years to come, I would suggest them to cut the shit. I will not buy name brand items from a new store that I have been buying locally from shops I've had a rapport with for years, even though Posh may be more conveniently located closer to my home.
Really a turn off. I would have like to have been able to build a relationship with the ladies at Posh and although I didn't find anything my first visit maybe I would have in the future. But after circulating rumors of stealing lines from others shops that I have loved for years, this new shop will NOT have my business or the business of anyone I associate with....that is just rude and VERY uncalled for. Being into fashion myself, I know of TONS of brands the above listed stores do not currently carry that Posh could have introduced to Anchorage. Pitty.
I find what the owner doesn't understand is that in a small town such as Anchorage, it isn't good for business to make enemies faster than friends.
I enjoy the atmosphere of the downtown/midtown boutiques...they are all unique in their own ways and although in the same line of business, they make sure not to step on each other's toes; I feel that the owner of Posh should take a look around and realize that she's making competition in a small town with established small business' who have great clients and will survive.
If Posh wants to do the same; I suggest they start being unique and making their look and store THEIR OWN and not looking to others for the mere intent of mimicking. It's too bad Posh turned so many people off with her inability to be independent....would be nice to have some retail boutiques on South Side, they had a good idea but never again will I shop there as she continues to rip off other hard working shops.
Good luck Posh.... read more
