Ive been wanting to check out this place again as it's been several years. Very heavy perfume smell throughout the store so the clothes would need a few washes. I however didn't find anything that I wanted to pay 35-70$ for a used shirt. I don't really wear high end clothing I guess. Small kids section up stairs as well, lowest prices I saw was $10 for clothing but they don't do cheap brand names that I could see. Saw a few pieces with stains on them which I was surprised they would buy/sell stained clothes. Some cute earrings and no black flats in my size. I would come back during their sales but other than that it's a pass. read more

I brought some nice clothes there and they only consigned like 2 things and gave me very little for them. A lot of their stuff is quite expensive for second hand. It's nice clothing, but I won't consign there again. Probably won't shop there much because it's expensive. read more

If you are planning on consigning with these guys just know that if you can't get your clothes within three days of dropping them off then they automatically donate them without any additional warning. I lost some nice clothes that I would have kept o when I was sick this last winter and didn't want to risk infecting anyone by going to pick up my clothing they would not take. The hours don't really work out for anyone with a full time job as they're 12p-5p most days they are open. That being said, the quality of the items here is great, and I almost always find something that I happily add to my wardrobe. Has there been a change in ownership? WHAT HAPPENED? I have consigned literally thousands of dollars of high-end clothing and accessories through the years and have never had a problem. I walked in the other day with a box and a bagful of clothing, and they immediately told me that they would "ACCEPT ONLY ONE." I was dumbfounded and asked if they even wanted my business. When I gave them my name, the woman at the register chuckled and scoffed as if she knew and disliked me. It was bizarre and humiliating, like dealing with mean girls in high school. I should have grabbed my things and run out the door. They have gone from positive and welcoming to rude and spiteful. After I pick up my "rejects," I will NEVER set foot in there again. I love their store! If I feel like looking for something different or just to browse I like to check out their store. I feel like I almost always find something for me. I love their sales. They have little snacks on sale days and they also have a kiddie area. Which is perfect for my boys. It allows me to shop and keeps their attention so they're not bored. I have brought my clothes for consignment and they've always been very communicative. I've been happy with what I get back after my items have sold. Consigning with them allows me to free up clothes from my closet and find something else I'll enjoy. They're always friendly and willing to help. Highly recommend! read more

I have shopped here on several ocassions and truley have enjoyed my finds. The clothes tend to cater to the late 20's-50's. The clothes are stylish, quality and mostly reasonably prices. A while back, I called and asked if they could hold my stuff for a few extra days due to work scheduling conflicts. Instead of holding on to my clothes until I could pick them up, they got rid of FOUR prom dresses and an entire box of gently used clothes, most of which I probably could've sold elsewhere. Took clothes in for consignment, they don't give a receipt, and with other people bringing things in at the same time, all clothes were sat down without names attached, I am concerned about items being credited to other accounts, as with my clothes, I brought in several high end sweaters and a handbag that I paid $300 for at Nordstrom, they didn't have any of those items on my account when I called today. Without a receipt for them it's their word against mine. I won't be consigning anymore with them. read more

Popped in here after looking at their sign whenever I worked out at the Alaska Club for Women on Northern Lights. Quite a large selection inside, and they represent all sizes which is quite nice. The labels of note: Ann Taylor Loft, BCBG, Banana Republic, Gap, as well as many other mid-range labels I've never heard of. The clothes are of new or like-new condition. I was in a rush and just wanted to view their inventory, so I didn't try anything on, but this is definitely worth checking out again. I really like Clothesline for selling and buying. They have a variety of clothes, jewelry, shoes, and purses to offer ranging from the occasional vintage to solid basics and some fun, trendy pieces. They are always in good to great condition, so I can feel comfortable that my purchase will last. If I sell something, I'm always pleased by my share and the prompt payments. I also like the staff--always pleasant and helpful--and the regular sales. After all, the only thing I like more than discounted clothes is discounted clothes on additional sale. read more

This is a great local consignment store. For a long time I sold and bought clothes at Plain Janes. And I still like Plain Janes. But my style at this phase of life fits more in with Clothesline Consignment. They have a huge selection to suit different styles. Great selection of activewear, shoes, everything really...including some maternity/nursing! I think their consignment policies are fair. Every time I go in there I seem to have a higher and higher credit balance which is exciting to do more shopping. They have two sales a month - the first Friday and third Sunday. I always find great buys whether I go there on a sale day or not. The staff is friendly. They change up the layout and display and I find that appealing. Make sure you know all of their policies before consigning to see if you feel like it is the right fit for you. As with any secondhand store, if you feel like your possessions are worth just as much as you bought them for then this place is probably not for you. I feel it's important to be realistic that used items may or may not sell for what you want them to. In my opinion they have fair prices which is good for both the buyers and consignors. read more

I absolutely love to shop here especially on the sale Sunday's! I have never left empty handed or disappointed. I wish there was slightly more clothing to pick from, but on the other hand that makes it less to shuffle through. I'm able to try on as many things as I'd like to. Very upset. I brought in a pair of danscos and a pair of sanitas. Neither were accepted, the danscos were probably a bit too warn. But the sanitas, I've worn once, they are not worn at all. They are in perfect condition. I also brought in an express shirt, an elegant dress, and a few other name brand clothes. None of which were accepted, I was kind of upset considering the perfect condition sanitas, but it was alright. I had even checked the danscos they had upstairs, to check scuffing on those. But when I went through my bag they gave me back, there was a lulu e. Bebe shirt missing. When I called to complain, she said to check home, and they could potentially reimburse me. But it was "their word against mine." I am very upset. I will NOT recommend or be back to buy or sell. read more

This is the only consignment store I currently buy and sell to, and I tried several others in town. I like the friendliness of the staff and the selection of the items for sale. I've found some wonderful things at good prices. I never had a problem with unaccepted items being donated without my consent, I am always careful to pick up unaccepted or unsold items within the disclosed time frames. read more

I've been hearing about this shop for quite some time and this weekend I finally paid my first visit. My friends and I are going to a Mad Men costume party at the Anchorage Museum and we were looking for clothes and accessories. One friend found a perfect dress, jacket, and earrings to wear. I was impressed with the selection, prices, and how clean and neat everything was. The staff was super friendly. On a Sunday afternoon it was busy busy busy with shoppers. After checking their website for the scoop on selling clothes there, I'm even tempted to spend part of my day off tomorrow digging through my closet for clothes to sell. So as a shopper I thought this was a very cool store and will definitely be paying them more visits. If I decide to consign some clothes with them, I'll be sure to come back and write a review on that angle. read more

Love this shop. The staff is always friendly (which is more than I can say for some of the other comsignment stores in town) and the prices are reasonable. I've brought a ton of clothing in for consignment and always get nice juicy checks each month. If you can catch a sale prices are as low as %75 off sometimes! Not as much high end product as Plain Jane but that also means prices are a little easier to handle. read more

Welcome to Clothesline - where you can find dingy used overpriced items. I brought in several items in new condition, dry cleaned always, Nordstrom brands (Caslon, Eileen Fisher, Marc Jacobs, Kenneth Cole, etc). None of my items were accepted (stains were mentioned though I inspected every item thoroughly before bringing it in - no stains, tears, etc.). Not only was I not greeted when I entered the store on every occasion - but found that the clothing they are selling is a mixed-matched inventory of dingy, overused and overpriced items - no thanks. I see several positive reviews but notice they are all from years ago...I wonder what changed. read more

I took about a dozen beautiful name-brand women's suit jackets in. They asked me if I wanted them to donate the ones that didn't SELL. I said absolutely not. I would pick them up. A week later I went in to see which ones they wanted to keep and which ones they wanted me to take home. They said they kept three and DONATED the rest!!!! Total rip-offs. And I'm sure they did this to get the tax write off before taxes are due. Never again!!! read more

I brought in a bunch of nice clothes and shoes, all fancy European and Italian brands. I checked in at the right time and they said they just gave them away because they were all very nice items but they weren't from the "few specific brands" they usually sell. I told them that they can find all those brands in cities like New York, and that they are pretty ignorant about good clothing and brands if they only know Banana Republic and a few other brands you can find in Anchorage. They lost money and a customer. I just realized they don't even tell you to what organization or group they donate. Next time I'll just donate my clothes to whoever really needs them. read more

Run by a very nice and friendly lady. She also owns the Love It Again consignment shop down a couple suites. Both are very fun stores and decently priced. I went to several consignment shops on Northern Lights and their prices were the fairest by far. Their selection is extensive and you are bound to find something you like! read more

7/13/2018 I am very upset. I brought in a large bag of HIGH quality, NAME brand, CLEAN folded clothing items (about 30 total) two days ago in a NICE reusable bag. Initially, I took my items to Second Run and they took twelve items. They suggested I take the remainder to the Clothesline as they stated, "you have some very nice pieces here and you should try the Clothesline". Today, I went to pick up my items and was told they choose ONE item and donated the rest! I did not give permission to donate the items. I am trying to understand this... they choose ONE item and donated the rest when I said I would pick up my items??? I was also told my nice bag was donated. I feel very uneasy about this. I see here on Yelp that several others have said essentially the same as above. I emailed the Clothesline today and ask what they could do to rectify the situation. I will update my review once they get back to me. 7/17/2018 UPDATE as promised to my review above: The manager (owner?) texted me and made an offer regarding my items (and bag) that were donated. The offer was pitiful. I will never return to this store and will consign/shop at Second Run and Plain Jane in the future. read more

Amazing place!!!!! After being treated like julia Roberts of off pretty woman at platos closet, I came here and was greeted with warm smiles and helpful staff. The layout is beautiful. You can tell a lot of thought has gone into the decor. There is a beautiful upstairs area with little rooms set off for children's clothing and shoes. It is gorgeous with the neatest set up. I couldn't have been treated better if I was family. Their consignment is great. Unlike platos closet, who rips you off and offers you $15 for a brand new pair of true religion with the tags still on, the Clothesline offers 50% profit. Plus, they send you checks. Platos gives you a short amount of time to get your money....24 hours, they don't contact you....and then take your money. I saw a man come in two days after he dropped off his stuff and they REFUSED to give him his money!!!!! Unbelievable. The people at platos closet look down their nose at you, and the people at the clothesline treat you like an old friend. Courteous, nice, caring, with great prices and amazing deals is a good description of the clothesline. Great place!!!! The Clothesline gets all my business from now on....to buy and sell!!!! Thank you for being so great! I couldn't have asked for better or more down to earth staff!!!! Keep up the good work;) you guys are the best!!!! read more

My girlfriend brought in over 500 dollars worth of dresses to sell to the store. She was given a receipt and told to come back in a month. She went back and they donated the dresses without her permission or even calling her. And then when she asked about it she was told by an employee "that's not my problem." I brought in 9 pairs of designer jeans (7 for all Mankind, Rock and Republic and Citizens of Humanity.) Since I was moving out of state I elected to have whatever didn't sell to be donated. I was told to come back the next day after 11am to pick up whatever they didn't want to keep to consign. When I returned the next day they told me they only accepted one pair to consign. When I asked for the rest of the jeans I was told they no longer had them. They said they had been donated. Less than 24 hours later and they were no longer in the store? I was told they were long gone, that I had chosen to have them donated. I had been told when dropping them off that I could come by the next day to get them. Very shady. Who knows if they even donated them. Hard to believe they disappeared that fast. read more

Only problem was they were looking for things past 2014 (something I did not know and they did not bother to tell me) and they didn't even try. Don't waste your time trying to consign anything here if you are under the age of ancient and actually want to sell clothes that are both in season and on trend. I brought a very large box of clothing neatly folded with brands that are supposedly carried there, and a box of my unworn shoes. I am in my mid 20's and I am hyper aware of what is an isn't in style to the educated fashionista. They did not take a single pair of brand new shoes I brought in, including a pair of Louboutin style studded leather high tops that were unworn. Apparently they only buy clothing for old people which leads me to my second point, if you are looking for stylish clothing and you are under the age of 30, you won't find it here. Think "middle age crisis soccer moms from hillside" consignment. I'd love to give this a good review as it's supposedly the only store in anchorage that takes plus size consignment but they apparently don't take clothing from fat people. Last I checked fat people need clothing too, but maybe I missed something. I won't ever come back here again and I suggest you don't waste your time here either. The other clothing consignment places may not be as outwardly friendly when you walk in, but at least they carry clothing worth buying. This place is tacky and downright cheap. read more

I am really surprised to see this shop under Vintage because I was very recently told that my clothes were too old for their clientele. Even the vintage type. Actually I have found that to be the case all over Anchorage. All the consignment shops only gear toward the younger set, even though I shop there and have for many years. Except for Second Run. Their deal is high end. So it doesn't matter the age, it just has to be high end. So if you're a 60 year old with classy fairly new clothes from the highest shops in San Diego or other places in the states, but they don't fit the younger clientele, you can't sell your clothes on consignment in Anchorage. I have tried at at least three different consignment shops in Anchorage in the last six months. They all told me the same thing. Yet I can find things I like in their shops to wear. I get rave reviews on them when I wear them to meetings, etc. What does that tell you. So I'm looking for some solution. This experience has really opened my eyes.
