From the daily buffet salad bar

The food is plentiful and excellent; with prompt attentive service. Very friendly ambiance (too bad that Yelp can't recognize synonyms) and they remember who you are and what drinks you prefer after a few visits.

We arrived around 1 pm and the Port Cafe was kind of quiet. It's a small town kind of place but the food exceeds expectations. The waitress was friendly and helpful and said that everything was good- which turned out to be true! Soft drinks and tea were served in quart sized mason jars and I had to use two hands to lift it. I ordered chalupas which were served classic style with ground beef, cheese and sour cream. Hubby had the BEAST- bacon, egg, avocado, spinach and toast and said it was good. Friends had the Port Burrito (it was big and he ate the whole thing) and the Poor Boy with shrimp. We all loved our food. The restaurant has a buffet - one for breakfast and one for lunch. We were given complimentary peach cobbler as we were there close to closing time and it was very tasty. There isn't a lot to see in Freeport but if you're there, this would be the place to stop!

Love this place! Been coming here for years and the food is always fresh and delicious!! We always bring family here when they are in town! During the week they have a huge lunch buffet with a salad bar. Highly recommend!

Ice cold egg ordered soft boiled came out hard boiled and cold.

Soooo this is the last time I review restaurants in this area they all just disappoint. I really wanted to have a good review on this but unfortunately it was horrible all the way around. There was one other table and it was breakfast. We waited almost 30 minutes after eating to get our food. The biscuits and gravy were packaged gravy on either stale or burnt biscuits I couldn't tell you which. And my sons pancakes were just ok while he asked for a soft boiled egg which came out hard boiled and literally freezing cold like it was cooked yesterday thrown in the fridge and then on his place. IHOP is better then this place every single time! I'm just going to start accepting that less the. Mediocre food is all that's over here. My best advice is to keep driving down 288 til you hit pearland atleast if you want decent food.

It really doesn't look like much from the outside. We would have never stopped except for the good reviews. This is precisely what you want a dive cafe to be. The kids split a cheeseburger and fries. (I tried it) The fries were HUGE and not soggy like big hand made fries usually turn out. These were nice and crispy outside and creamy inside. Perfect. The burger was delicious. High quality beef nice and thick and some sort of sharp cheddar cheese. Very flavorful. On a buttery bun. Wife and I did the lunch buffet. The cheese enchiladas were a little bland but a little homemade salsa spiced them right up. The beef tips were excellent as well and the meat loaf and the chicken fried steak. The sides were great too. I loved the green beans. My wife thought they were a bit salty. Cabbage was spot on. The people sitting next to us ordered breakfast for lunch and I must say I was a bit jealous. It looked SOOOO good. Table service was very genuine and friendly. Will definitely be coming back again.

Wonderful find on our trip to Surfside Beach! We wanted a full breakfast before hitting the sand but had our small dog with us. Since it was after regular breakfast hours, we were skeptical of locating somewhere nearby still serving. But, found this cafe not so far from us and the polite young lady who answered my call inquiring about pets encouraged us to come. Once there, we were able sit on the outdoor patio and our server was so attentive to us and welcoming. The menu was extensive and our meals were beautifully prepared. Port Cafe is a gem if you're staying in the area.

Sausage and cheese omelet with a side of sausage. This normally has hash browns and toast too but I had them hold them.

Really nice diner. It does not look very big from the outside but it is surprisingly big on the inside. The omelet was good, but very greasy. In my opinion, the omelet was a bit high on price but the side of sausage was ridiculously cheap. Parking can be a bit tricky. The front of the store parking is not set up well but there is parking along the side of the building. They offer a lunch buffet, but I am not sure what is offered on it. Current buffet price shows to be $11.95. The table cloths are a bit in need of replacing but not terrible. They offer indoors and outdoor dining. Definitely worth the trip.

We stopped for breakfast and was NOT disappointed! The mixed grill was amazing and bursting with flavor. It's a small quaint dive. But don't let that fool you. Go inside and enjoy a great breakfast with friendly folks

The brunch buffet was really good. 15 people walked in after us and they handled the crowd no problem.

Good for a fast lunch. Buffet has many diverse choices and food is fresh. Fair price and good fresh food.

As always Yelp to the rescue on deciding on a good place to eat. I wasn't too sure about this place since it only had one review, but glad we took a chance. It was about a 13 minute drive from the jetties. The restaurant had a pretty decent lunch crowd. I was greeted the second I walked up to the counter. I ordered 4 beef fajita tacos, chicharron taco with red sauce, and a barbacoa taco. The prices on the steep side per "breakfast" taco $6 .75 and up, but they were huge! Total spent for 6 tacos $58 with tax! I was charged for cilantro and onions and didn't get it on my barbacoa taco. Also they don't include lettuce and tomatoes on your beef fajita tacos, first time I've come across this. Overall, customer service is good, value for the tacos pricey, but you can definitely make two tacos out of them. The meat seasoned well and the best was the barbacoa wasn't greasy or fatty! The chicharron tacos with red sauce are a must for me every chance I can order it. It wasn't my favorite the way they prepared it. We'd consider coming back when we're in Freeport again.
